Oh my god

daily show-republicans and their gay marriage freak out

poolcleaner says...

Polyamorous feelings are hardly learned. You only like one person at any given time? Lies. Not even speaking about SEX, which always seems to be the trigger word for our collective fears. Why does it come down to sex? Most of my romance is asexual, y'all (society, the royal y'all) are oversexed because you're afraid of your feelings. Either you can't free your feminine self or your masculine self because you are afraid or embarassed, or lack the ability to think beyond that into nonbinary worldviews. Removing negative values from sexual acts so that they become naturally flowing, and not repressed sudden bursts of violence. Practice being asexual around people you're deeply attracted to. Treat them like *gasp* people.

Group hugs, anyone? Holding hands in prayer? I can't be the only one that feels that built in polyamorous tingle, can I? Sporting collisions? Animals born in litters crawling all over each other. Ain't sexual, is just a deep rooted desire to be among life close up and in that shit; protected and secure; loved. Any concert goers out there like getting close to the stage? That's a lot of sweaty people you're being sandwiched between. I know not everyone likes these situations, but it's enough latent desire, again not just for sex, but to be VERY close with more than one other person.

Haha... anyway! It's not all about dirty, sexual acts. If someone I hardly knew asked me or my wife to hang out and tried to have group sex, it wouldn't work anyway. Friendship and asexual romance are higher powers of coexistence anyway; more honest, less messy and ancient mammalian.

But... what is so wrong with bonds that form out of such natural human need beyond the twosome -- also think of all the lonely people out there who you're depriving of human touch, and just because you irrationally believe it's wrong. Shame on society. Shame.

Last Week Tonight with John Oliver: Transgender Rights

Consider my error a gracious gesture to you insignificant being. In the grand scheme of things they (and you) don't matter.

Go hug a tree or save a polar bear. Better yet save a child from abortion.

Ahh right, I keep forgetting that basic numeracy (like basic literacy, logic or human decency) is not your strong point.

700000 out of 320 million is 0.2% not 0.002% as you claimed and then upped to 0.02%.

Hey, you were only TWO FUCKING ORDERS OF MAGNITUDE WRONG! That's actually better than you usually do.

And if it was 700 people, they would still matter. If it was 7 people, they would still fucking matter.

Besides, that 700k figure is a pretty conservative estimate. The reality could be much higher than that, as people are reluctant to self-identify as trans thanks to assholes like you.

I'm tired of explaining this to morons on the internet, but once again, the existence of a larger problem (e.g. climate change) does not negate the existence of a smaller problem, especially when the smaller problem is one that's easily dealt with.

Chinese Couples vs. Western Couples

GenjiKilpatrick says...

Ugh, really? Were you not hugged as a child?

Is that why you always nay-say and intentionally miss the point of every video?

- Firstly, cliche & stereotypes can still be humorous or provoking..

It's part of the reason they become overused, lots of people can relate.

- Secondly, THE VIDEO IS COMPARING THE CLICHES PRESENT IN CHINESE VS AMERICAN RELATIONSHIPS!!

Wtf, man. That's the point of the video.

To give both types of couple a little chuckle and go "yeah, that's definitely us".

For comedy purposes.. cause it's a comedy youtube channel..

If you don't find cliches funny, wtf would you watch more than half the video..?

Smarter Every Day - The Archer's Paradox

JustSaying says...

Boy, am I glad this discussion evolved into one about fist-bumping and not the other one.

And for the record, I'd like to be fist-bumped professionally any place, any time, by anyone.
But on the other hand, I like to hug male co-workers for a minute or more. I'm that kind of person.

newtboy says...

What if it's done as a health issue? Shaking hands is a major disease vector, and if altering that social behavior just slightly can help us all stay safer, isn't that worth it?
I only fist bump these days. I'm not quite at Howie Mandel level, but I understand him. I always feel that if I'm going to shake your hand, I might as well go ahead and just give you a hug (and probably a pat on the back too), no?
But maybe that's just weird old me. ;-)

That seems to me a very inconsiderate way of interacting with someone else "I'm comfortable with this behavior and despite that you almost definitely have never done this in your life, I'm going to make you do it as if it's normal because I don't give a shit what you are comfortable with."

That's not a pat on the back. A pat on the back is a pat on the back.

But maybe that's just cantankerous old me.

Pffft.

I am so happy you thought of me and said hello. I was thinking of you, too.

I lost my little doggie, Tess, about two weeks ago, and it really sucked the wind out of my sails. She started breathing funny on Wednesday, and she was dead Thursday night. I had to shoot her, because I couldn't stand to watch her suffer. I'll always second guess myself on that, but she was breathing so hard her tongue was turning blue...as if I could have hugged her back to life.

When I pulled the trigger...I realized in the coldest measure of reality...that a chapter of my life had come to an end.

Twelve years, that little shit followed me through thick and thin and I never thought much about it. I loved her, of course, but...now that she's gone...a part of me has died as well.

I'm a bad Buddhist, I guess...this is all chapter and verse....

On the global field, I feel like we have met, or are approaching, the end of an epoch. Out with the olde, in with the new. Kind of hoping it's not WW-III and all...but I can sense a significant change in the works.

I hope you are well, too, and happy, genuinely happy.

This shot of tequila is for you. May you laugh and smile for no reason at all, soon, and for days on end.

Cop Kills Mexican For Slowly Shuffling In His Direction

reiwan says...

You seem to have clearly missed the point and are obviously trying to just push an agenda rather than objectively look at the situation. The first thing you can think of is a race issue? Stop trolling. The officer in the video I linked showed restraint, attempted to issue verbal directions to the person and a lack of action got him killed. The same could have happened to the officer in this sift. How do you know that man was not going to start grappling with the officer? Then what? The man steals the officers side arm and kills him? The man pulls out a hidden weapon and kills the officer? Maybe you need another example?

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8P5mB6grzf4

The officer in this sift told the guy to stop advancing towards him. The guy repeatedly ignored the officers commands. The officer has no idea what the suspect is capable of and felt sufficiently threatened to shoot considering what the suspect could be capable of. What do you think he was doing? Going in for a hug? This was either suicide by cop, or he was trying to get in close enough to do something.

newtboy said:

By which you mean if he was white, the officer would have shown an overabundance of restraint?
What DO you mean by that completely different situation?

Today on C.G.W.-Cop Goes Into GTA Mode And Runs Down Suspect

lantern53 says...

What does that mean...turnabout is fair play?

As for the nutcase depicted, did the cops have information that he was trying to commit suicide-by-cop? Or did they just have information that he was the suspect in a crime spree including a home invasion, the theft of a gun and the discharge of same in a public place?

If he was walking toward some people with a gun and what the cops believe to be criminal intent or being out of control with the gun, then they are justified in using lethal force to stop him and protect innocent lives.

I don't know too many people who would be willing to just approach the guy and give him a pamphlet of mental health resources in the county.

On the other hand, we did have a dispatcher who would have offered to give him a hug.
