How to get disqualified from a dog sled race

er, what happened here?

Fur Rondy World Championship
Statement from Blayne Streeper on events in the 2nd heat of the race.

Yesterday evening following the second heat of the Fur Rondy, I was informed by the Race Marshall that I was being disqualified from the race for unsportsman like conduct.

This incident happened on Cordova Hill as I caught Luke Sampson. I hollered, "Luke Trail Luke," several times. He did not hear me and as my leaders reached him and attempted to pass he jumped off his sled and started running along side, interfering with my leaders.

As my team caught and passed Luke at the top of the hill I slapped his arm to get his attention and hollered, "Luke, Pay Fu---ng attention!" The way it was perceived by some in the crowd was that I was assaulting Luke. I felt that as an experienced driver that I had an obligation to advise this driver of his failure to pay attention and that he caused a safety risk to my team and that of others. At the finish of the race the Race Marshall came to me at the truck asking what had happened and that a trail official had phoned her and stated that I had punched Luke and yelled profanities. The Race Marshall also contacted Luke Sampson, who refused to file a protest.

I feal that the Race Marshall has over reacted on this incident and the penalty of disqualification from the race is too severe. I know the safety of our dogs is of the first concern for all of us. The dogs are defenseless and count on us to care for and protect them.

I regret using profanity during the race and apologize to all of the fans that I may have offended and to my friend Luke Sampson.

Barbara Bush gives her opinion of Sarah Palin

shuac says...

I recently watched all the popular vids in the Election08 channel. Sarah Palin was a cherished part of what was, by far, the most entertaining election in my lifetime. I recommend going back and re-watching them for a hoot and a holler.

I really really hope she's a part of the 2012 election in some way. Not even kidding.

Obama's Term, So Far

Well, three parties would not amount to any real change. That is hardly effective. When the corporations put out money to the "new" party, then that party is brought to you by Tampex, BP and Oxyclean. Also, think of this. Two parties cannot get anything done, you think three can?
The Tea Party is an example of this. They are a serious threat to the GOP and the GOP is masterfully (I hate it) re-absorbing them like flies to shit. The Tea Party came about because of perceived failures in the GOP and are much more libertarian than the GOP will ever be. Yet, the Tea Party members are flunkies to GOP now... Sad… That, and they became as extreme as the GOP overnight--and are going beyond them...

It'll be damn more effective than the democrats being unable to do diddly squat because the "far" left and conservative wing keep blowing each other out of the water. Right now ever Democrat can say "We have the majority, the voter wants what I have to offer, screw the weirdos in my party. Now imagine you'd have a coalition gouvernment with a say 25/35 percent split between the parties involved. A lot clearer who is junior partner and who isn't.

Is the whole process aggrevating? Yes. But there is this thing called "compromise" that can help in some situations. Some people in DC should look it up at some point.

And the Tea Party is... well, just because something is called a party doesn't mean that it's either fun or political. The "Tea Party" as it currently stands is a front for corporate interests, trying to pull wool over the eyes of the politically less educated and politicians. It may have started differently, but it certainly devolved into a corporatist machine over the last 12 months.

If you're really fed up, try starting your own movement. It'll be hard work, and it will take a few years, but you've got the net, and it can be done (see the Pirate Party). Just remain reasonable, don't start screaming and hollering and wailing "I want my country back", because that way you'll just attract the cooks (and you'll get enough of those in the beginning). You'll want to attract the reasonable people, who can get things done.

Yes, this is a fucked up situation (and not just in the US, a lot of other western "democracies" are starting to look like the US), and nobody is saying the solution is easy, fast or that in fact a good or even ideal solution can be had. But I'd rather have a semi-good solution ASAP and refine it to a good solution than wait for a good solution 30 years down the line while our entire world falls apart around us.

Glenn Howards Amazing curling shot Brier 2009

GoodAttorney says...

Whoa people! Come on... the vid IS great, but let's be honest unless you're drinking and participating, curling is lame and the fact that it's an Olympic event kind of sums up why the world is going to shit. Yes, I'm down south, but you don't see me hooting and hollering about 4 man horse shoes, chicken bingo, or some other regional equivalent, with all do respect to our esteemed Canadian friends of course.

No I'm Not Going To Read The Bill

Stormsinger says...

Wow, an honest, reasonable Republican. I thought we lost the last one of those when Chuck Hagel retired.

I don't see a problem with saying that nobody reads the legislative language. I only wish that the "plain English" versions were released alongside the legislative language version of every bill. That way, those rare individuals (OCD sufferers?) who actually -can- pull clarity out of the complexity could comb it over and holler about issues that don't match.

Red State Update Meets Westboro Baptist Church

Nithern says...

There are times, southerns can be just damn funny, even for this northern patriot. That guy hitting on the woman, should have just stopped and gone looking for a real woman. She was clearly in denial (and maybe egyptian too) of her lesbian persona. You know what what they say "those who holler, curse, and threaten the most towards homosexuals, are they themselves, even more deeper homosexual".

That's right all you southern 'gents' that wear the grey. Yankees are New York, Patriots are New England.

Fox Criticizes Obama For Speaking To The Children

Winstonfield_Pennypacker says...

I don't see this really as an issue. As long as Obama keeps his big fat mouth shut about his controversial agenda items, then go ahead and let him talk to the kids.

The only reason I can see people getting uptight on this is because Obama has a long, storied history of NOT being able to keep his big fat mouth shut. Go ahead and make your speech, Obama. I'm relatively certain though that it will be gone over with a fine tooth comb by his handlers to make sure it doesn't contain his standard "America sucks - we're sorry!" rhetoric, or backhanded plugs for his stupid carbon taxes and health care reform.

If it DOES end up having that stuff, or if Obama just can't stop himself from blabbing about it anyway, then I'm also relatively certain he'll catch raw, unadulterated hades for it. Bush made an address in like 1991 or so. Democrats of the day screamed and hollered about it being a campaign speech too.

Jane Hamsher Serves Up Healthcare Smackdown on MSNBC

Citrohan says...

“I’m sorry I’m not a cancer survivor” WTF?!?! Could this woman be any more callous, any more heartless? This attitude is exactly why the Regressives are being treated as outcasts.
Bandes displays all the traits of what conservatives do when confronted with inconvenient facts: interrupt and talk over your opponent, lie or just make stuff up and holler. Her stupidity is breathtaking. Does she and other conservatives not realize that by lowering the number of people that are uninsured hurts their argument? If the number is as low as they say it is, then the cost of providing health coverage for them just got remarkably lower.

The House of Commons is weird. Does any other parliament from any other country feature this kind of whooping and booing?

It's actually a parliament thing, as far as I can tell. Canada's House of Commons does the same thing.

I think that Congress would be improved by some whooping and hollering.
