If ever there was a need for more cowbell ...
That's too bad. You need a Hook who's going to chew the scenery, not get eaten up by it. Why not Dustin Hoffman again? ...he's still around.
Bluegrass Folk Cover of AC/DC’s ‘Thunderstruck’
Sniff ... Philip Seymour Hoffman was brilliant in this.

Making cocaine in Colombia
Yes, you're ignored, and I read your comment anyway.
No, in saying "use drugs," I was not "implying cannabis." I said "use drugs" because I meant "use drugs." Rather than trying to interpret or 'read into' what I'm saying, it might help if you responded to my post, and not what you post in your mind on my behalf.
And I will take you up on your 'challenge:' below is a list of ten "highly intelligent" people who have used cocaine (note: at no point did I say "encourages the use of cocaine." I said "use drugs" without becoming addicted, and being able to function), so that you can provide me with 10,000 more** whose lives and families have been destroyed by it. (**And note here, we're talking about individuals whose lives were destroyed by the use of cocaine itself, and not by the pointless drug laws that imprison people for having a mental or emotional condition that provokes "self-medication" as a form of treatment. Nor are we talking about the illegal status of cocaine which, itself, gives rise to violent cartels that function in the shadow of its legal status.)
So, while certainly many of the following list of "highly intelligent" (non-cognitively deficient) and successful "celebrities" may no longer be using cocaine, all of the following have used cocaine and are/were not addicted and function(ed) just fine:
Sigmund Freud
Thomas Edison
Oprah Winfrey
Stephen King
Tim Allen
Hunter S. Thompson
Angelina Jolie
Robert Louis Stevenson
Steven Tyler
Robert Downey, Jr.
There are others (like William Burroughs, Eric Clapton, Grover Cleveland, David Crosby, Arthur Conan Doyle, Isadora Duncan, Ulysses S Grant, Abbie Hoffman, Elton John, King George V, Larry Kudlow, Sir Paul McCartney, & Barack Obama), but I thought I'd stop at 10.
And if you post the 10,000 names of those whose lives and families were destroyed by cocaine (and not by the pointless drug laws or its illegal status) by the end of the week, I'll take your point.
"use drugs" and "use cocaine" are extremely different things. I'm sure in your statement you intentionally and covertly implied cannabis.
However, having said that, for every "highly intelligent" person that you'd show me who encourages the use of cocaine, I'll show you 1000 more that had their lifes and families destroyed by it. For every 1 "highly intelligent" person you show me that did not get addicted to cocaine, I'll show you 1000 more that did.
Alas, I'm ignored, so have a good cocaine-filled day, crackhead.

Largest Mass Bumblebee Die-Off Ever Recorded in Oregon
Ah, but there was followup to the story and it looks like the trees were innocent:
But a local conservation society concluded that the tree was inadvertently sprayed with a pesticide that killed the bees.
Scott Hoffman Black, executive director of the Xerces Society, said he has confirmed the thousands of dead bees found Monday in a Wilsonville parking lot died from pesticide poisoning.
Black said the Oregon Department of Agriculture talked with a landscaping company that recently sprayed an insecticide called Safari on the European linden trees in the parking lot.
“They made a huge mistake, but unfortunately this is not that uncommon,” said Black. “Evidently they didn’t follow the label instructions. This should not have been applied to the trees while they’re in bloom.”
How would you be different if you were born a woman?
From a feminist friend of a friend:
“This is nice and it’s cool for a straight guy to talk about having a new perspective on the male gaze, good for him. but the fact that it’s gone so viral is a little upsetting to me. do we really expect so little of men that Dustin Hoffman recognizing that, you know, beauty doesn’t necessarily accompany substance (and vice versa) is inspirational?”
So, what's his big revelation here? That unattractive women are interesting, too? Really? Not impressed.
He admits to working his fame on attractive women and then felt guilty for it, and made Tootsie to make up for his guilt (and cashed in, in the process). I don't hold it against him for having a "come to Jesus" moment, by dressing up in drag. I don't even care that he got emotional when he shared it with the American Film Institute, as some sort of cultural revelation.
What bothers me is that we live in a culture that feeds off these momentary glimpses of heart, when we all know that there is really so much more. And that this admiration for such a minor insight really sets the standard far too low.
Let's not mistake a sincere moment with actual, you know, integrity.
Sure, it's a sweet video and a sweet message (maybe a bit saccharine for my tastes). And Tootsie is, for sure, a great flick! But, crying on camera is not the limit-case for what constitutes a touching and meaningful moment, particularly one like this, devoid of any real context and depth. It's emptiness masquerading as meaning.
Crocodile.
There you go again; "Look at his reaction. He wouldn't have gotten so emotional if he felt free to change." Another gross, stupid, assumption.
And I do know the difference between an Assumption - which you made about Hoffman - and a generalization - which you made about woman.
I made clear that i have no prejudices. You ignored what I said to try and justify your ill-informed statements. Listen my friend, typing words with the help of spell check does not mean you have a valid opinion. Quit whilst you are behind, your silly comments are only digging yourself a deeper hole. I'm done.
How would you be different if you were born a woman?
I think the most important word in Hoffman's talk was the word "epiphany."
Often these moments are blazing and complex ideas, delivered as a whole in one moment. Not easily delivered to others in a couple of sentences in an interview.
If you haven't had the epiphany, haven't worked to understand the epiphany, or haven't already fully understood and lived the complex ideas so you understand what the epiphany is.... well, you might want to slow down the reaction comments and attempt to work at understanding what he understood in a flash, all those years ago.
In my opinion, of course. In my opinion.
