Hamas to kids: Shoot all the Jews

ChaosEngine says...

I'm not a fan of Hamas at all.

If you were being extremely generous, you could argue that they have some extremist elements with some very unsavory views.

A more reasonable appraisal is that they are a pretty fucking awful organisation with a horrific humans rights record* who genuinely do want the jews annihilated.

But hey, do you know what will help the situation? Israel bombing schools! That will absolutely make the people of Gaza realise that israelis aren't bad guys at all. In no time at all, that will help foster a culture of understanding and harmony.

* And let's be honest here, the same is true for almost all Islamic states.

The problem with this country is it doesn't read. It doesn't inform itself on the issues. I'd probably still be a major nigger hating racist if it wasn't for books. If you want the skinny on that go to my Facebook Notes and read my "Racism Speech" which really isn't a speech so much as it is part of my memoirs to my two boys.

I wasn't really into this Islam thing until I happened to read The Haj by Leon Uris and Because They Hate by Brigitte Gabrielle almost back to back. I'll submit the following to give you an idea of what happened.

“we may describe it, (jihad), as a surgeon's lancet and not a butcher's knife.” Mahmoud Mohammed Taha (I'm sure there are about 200 million dead people that would disagree with him. And this from the guy who's been called the Mahatma Ghandi of Islam.)

About two years ago I ordered some reading material, including Taha's "Second Message", and a “study” Koran to find out what this "Islam thing" was all about. When I was sixteen I was chanting nam yo ho renge kyo to a piece of paper, (gahonzen?), having NO idea what I was doing. A few years later, hair down to my ass and a knapsack on my back, I hitchhiked cross country, got saved in Nashville Tenn. and went to live on a Christian farm in Mansfield Ohio. (Not the prison.) My gra'mom called me a "seeker". As I said, there came a time when I wanted to understand this "religion of peace". It was Humaid's article on jihad I found in my Summarized Bukhari that decided “things” for me.

If Islam is the “religion of peace”, where in Sheikh Abdullah bin Humaid's article on jihad can I find the equivalent of “Love Thy Neighbor” and “good will toward men”? And explain its prominence, and significance almost as an “Introduction”, in a book that's described as “the most authentic and true among the books of the Prophet”: My Summarized Sahih Al-Bukhari. Also address “jihad” as it's defined in Reliance of the Traveller and answer the same question. (Chapter O-9.0: Jihad O: “Jihad means to war against non-Muslims, and is etymologically derived from the word mujahada signifying warfare to establish the religion.” And explain why the “greater” jihad is only mentioned once here and never seen again in this “Classic Manual of Islamic Sacred Law”.)

Compare Humaid's “jihad” and Emmet Fox' Sermon on the Mount and tell me which one best represents a spirit of Love and “compassion”.

Lastly; would you pick Sheikh bin Humaid to sit on a Human Rights Commission? (That's a trick question by the way.)

Maybe you can throw in an explanation of the Jews are “monkeys, pigs and rats” on page 656 and the part where Mo says, “if somebody (a Muslim) discards his religion, kill him” on page 613 in the chapter on Jihad.

Also, explain why Humaid's “jihad” shouldn't be “Exhibit A” in refuting the “religion of peace” claim.

I've posted this many times to many Muslims and have yet to get a single response. Well, I did receive a response from some goofball named “Dr.” Mohsen El-Guindy asking me to read his books. Instead I downloaded a bunch of his articles. Which were pure rants. An Imam, sidestepped it by telling me I had to “study Islam” to gain a greater understanding.

Nah, it's fine. I read an outline of the next 3 books and it gets much better from here. No one else will die, they'll all retire in a newly reformed Valaria where the sun is always shining and every house is a kingdom. People will live in perfect harmony with no reason to be mean to each other. The old ones will come back to reform the bad people, white walkers will decide that they have no reason to go south where it gets warm.

So don't worry and enjoy.

Cliven Bundy Shares Some Peculiar Views

chingalera says...

You're missing the forest for your own trees concerning these government agencies and how they are used by special interests, people-Lands declared federally-owned then 'managed' in this country have been historically for public use. According to the Sierra Club: "Public lands are used in the production of oil, gas, coal, hardrock minerals, timber, and livestock in addition to being used for roads, power and gas lines, and communication facilities just to mention a few. Likewise, the Public lands are an environmental treasure house for recreation and wildlife and scenic wonder from desert to seacoast, mountain top to prairie, grassland to forest -- a shared heritage for now and the future."

Most generational ranchers don't fuck-up the land, they don't abuse it , it's their goddamn livelihood. They know it's vibe way better than the feds and their little friends....

Bundy was paying to, and had a preexisting deal with Clark County and his damn family had been cattlemen on these lands for a few generations, living in harmony with the goddamn turtles, and not trashing the place like newtbox (god you think you know what the fuckit is you know nothing about except what the TV tells you) here and others use in defense of the encroaching and over-reaching bureaucracy whose ONLY goal is to save their own interests in the rights of this land for their nefarious personal good-ol' boy club purposes.

Urbanization and ominous government with peeps with votes never getting involved in righteous decisions during the process of being ASS-RAPED from behind tomes legislation with special interest laws piggy-backed within legislation has ALWAYS been the method of politicians, licking the asses of the money-men.

If people would get an ACTUAL clue abut how the government works to benefit these cunts, they'd start to sound like people who did their homework instead of self-righteous cunts trying to sound smart.

I am happy to accommodate the cries of 'ignorance' and 'fail', heard all this shit before, so go fuck yourselves unless you have anything else to spew but scripted 'what you think you know' horse-shit. I understand that certain types of dum-basses are quite satisfied with themselves to talk a lot and say nothing but whats fed them.

The United States government fucked the Native Americans, now they're fucvkng cowboys and ranchers......No digression with land and money drunk robber-barons, especially when they have dutiful putties to interpret history to suit their delusions.

Wanna fix the situation America? Stop eating their meat. Try turtle soup, the shits awesome.

Billy Connolly Is Not A "Hobbit" Fan

poolcleaner says...

Life is a horror show but let's make the best of it and laugh. Sometimes the worst of things are the funniest; laughter itself being functionally horrific. That's called harmony. Understanding harmony, I still refuse to relinquish my anger. So I am angry that Billy suffers.

But I smile and laugh, because that is life.

And I laugh at my own inability to give up my own suffering -- my anger; to not let go of old wounds and to let rage consume my being and redirect tendrils of hostility in inappropriate, pseudo-harmony; evenly distributed to all.

It's comedy gold from a philosophical perspective.

paul mccartney for no one solo acoustic performance

silvercord says...

I sometimes think that if I could sing like a rock star it would be Ian Anderson in his good years, Bon Jovi when he's snarling or Greg Lake with that pure operatic power. Then I hear this and think of the versatility with which McCartney could work those pipes. This clip reminds me of all the confidence and complexity he could bring to his work with both melodies and harmonies and I think it would be good to be this beautiful.

The Power of Empathy - Empathy Vs. Sympathy

brycewi19 says...

Though I don't think this is stupid, one does not get to simply make up new definitions of words.

That's what this lady is doing. She is wrong.

sym·pa·thy
[sim-puh-thee]
noun - harmony of or agreement in feeling, as between persons or on the part of one person with respect to another.
or
the fact or power of sharing the feelings of another, especially in sorrow or trouble; fellow feeling, compassion, or commiseration.

em·pa·thy
[em-puh-thee]
noun - the intellectual identification with or vicarious experiencing of the feelings, thoughts, or attitudes of another.

Sympathy does not imply disconnect as she is trying so desperately to redefine. Rather, just the opposite. Though empathy is a very important thing to convey to another, it is an effort to TRY to understand one's feeling. Sympathy is the ability to ACTUALLY feel the other.

In a career field of caring (e.g. mental health therapist), sympathy can be dangerous mainly because the over-identification of an emotion with someone can lead to enmeshment and lack of perspective along with a difficult time centering one's self and self-caring after the other has left.

Stephen Fry and Jonathan Ross Discuss Language Evolution

poolcleaner says...

Are you asking why evolution doesn't behave in a more efficient manner? For what purpose would you filter out the natural qualities of existence that give it diversity?

The lazy mistakes of our universe are erosion, planet formation, star formation, etc. etc. It's all mistakes. The universe doesn't care if one quality is more beneficial than another, otherwise all of existence would be perfect and in harmony -- One thing changed and causation caused another thing to happen. Because those things happened, it lead to another thing, which formed another thing in a pattern that eventually gave shape to something greater than all the random, lazy changes before it.

That's language, that's sports, that's art, that's technology, and that's mankind.

The universe is not "correct" as defined by human concepts of efficiency or return on investment. Things take time to evolve because the process of evolution is gradual and made up of changes with no particular value. We merely add value to things based upon our needs and desires. Correctness forms over time, as we either process things into "culture" or deviate from that culture for a more efficient pathway.

Phreezdryd said:

So "mind meld" doesn't mean what we think it means?

Why does our language have to evolve through mistakes and typos? Wonky technology plus laziness equals new language? Seems like nothing more than ignorance and a bad attitude towards getting something correct.

Tool - Lateralus - Guitar Percussion Cover

MilkmanDan says...

His sorta flamenco-style percussion is very cool and adds something to the cover; unfortunately since we only have two hands he has to rely on clean hammer-ons (which to be fair, he does very well) to produce the correct notes on the actual strings as opposed to fretting and then strumming or picking as usual. Despite his skill, occasionally notes get missed and they are frequently not as loud compared to the percussion as would be ideal.

Worth an upvote, but I'd love to see him arrange a version for two guitars with one doing the percussion and harmony and another one doing the melody with conventional strumming. It wouldn't be *twice* as good, but I think it would be significantly better.
