Robot Chicken - Episode III

skinnydaddy1 says...

Best Robot Chicken Episode Ever. They put a hell of a lot more thought in to this one than any of the others. Funny how that turned out. "Blue Harvest" and "Something Something Something Darkside" where damn good but "Its a Trap!" fell on its face. The first 2 Episodes of the Robot Chicken where meh but one the 3rd they nail it. Still it needed more Garry.

Suzi Quatro: Stumblin' In.

Sagemind says...

"Stumblin' In", a duet recorded in 1978 for RSO Records with Chris Norman of the band Smokie reached a #4 peak in the U.S.

She is known in the United States for her role as Leather Tuscadero on the TV show Happy Days. Show producer Garry Marshall offered the role without an audition after seeing her on his daughter's bedroom wall. Leather was the younger sister of Fonzie's girlfriend, hot-rod driver Pinky Tuscadero. Leather fronted an all-girl rock band joined by principal character Joanie Cunningham. The character returned in other cameo roles, including once for a date to a fraternity formal with Ralph Malph. Marshall offered Quatro a Leather Tuscadero spin-off, but she refused, saying she did not want to be typecast.

ChristianU2ber: Is Gay Marriage Right Or Wrong?

vairetube says...

we're all homos.

especially u

i like how he comes full circle.. to realize it's not wrong, just not normal.. soon he will realize that normal is whatever you are... and then realize normal is essentially meaningless in terms of people... and then he'll garry a may and he bappy

Hilarious response to 'gay marriage isn't natural' argument.

vairetube says...

upvote for spoonerism... garried to a may
-----

ok so i just watched your video...

and gay marriage just got legalized in Vermont
(and thats where i live)
so i thought i'd post a response...

because gay marriage is legal...
and im gay...
and im going to marry a gay.

...and you say in your video that gay marriage isnt natural,
but i dont think you know anything about whats natural,
because you live inside a house ,
and i saw pictures of you inside your room,
but i live outside in nature in the outdoors,
and you dont know what it is - anything -
to be about natural,
because you eat food from the - shtore,
and i eat food that i kill with a rock.

im a vegetarian and i eat plants,
but i kill all the food i eat with a rock.
i kill plants with a rock,
and i make a computer that's made out of wood
and i work on the computer thats made out of wood

your computer's made out of technology
so you shouldnt say anything about what it is to be natural and not to be natural,
because you dont know'n anything about what it is to be natural,
but i live in vermont and i use a computer that's made out of wood and rocks

i eat computers that are made out of wood and rocks,
and i use plants that are made out of computers,
and you dont know anything about what it is to be natural,
and you should get married to a gay,
cause im gonna get married to a gay,
and if you got garried to may to the,
you would learn anything about what it is to be natural.

so if you wanna learn anything about what it is to be natural,
you should go to the store,
you should buy wood that is made out of rocks,
and you should kill the computers with trees,
and then you would know anything about what it is to be natural,
and i dont know anything about what it is to be natural,
because im not gay and i got married to a gay.

if you get married to a gay
then you wont be gay anymore
because the gays get married
and then they become straight
because they are married to each other
and marraige isn't between a man and a woman
so one of them is going to turn into a woman or a man
if their either woman or man, not either -eending already -
and they're gonna get married to a gay.

so if you dont get married to a gay
then you wont know'n anything about what it is to be natural
and im gonna get married to the gay natural
im gonna be made out of wood
into the gatrolininay
are you gonna get married to the gay to the natural

Адажио Adagio

Eklek says...

From IMDB:
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0297703/

"Adagio" (2000) -is a ten minutes long animated miracle created by Russian master-animator Garry Bardin. He used paper folding also known as origami technique in the film because he felt that the idea of "Adagio" and its visual solution required paper as a perfect material. It took nine months to produce "Adagio". Bardin and his team of animators tried to manually move the paper figures, strange half-men, half-birds creatures, using the trial-and-error method.

"Adagio" which is a philosophical parable exploring the conflict between a hero and the crowd is loosely based on a romantic short story written by the famous Russian writer Maxim Gorky about a young man named Danko and his burning heart. In the story, Danko belonged to a tribe of strong men that were forced by their enemies to retreat into the depths of an old dark forest filled with swamps. Danko, young and brave, believed that there was a way out of dark and hostile forest, and he bravely led the people deeper inside. But soon they started to grumble. Fueled by fear and darkness, frustration and anger grew among them. Danko looked at the people and saw only hatred in their faces, and the flame of desire to save them flared up in his heart.

"This flame of love for his people became stronger and stronger, and suddenly, overpowering the sound of thunder, Danko exclaimed: 'What shall I do for my people?' And he tore apart his chest and tore out his heart and raised it high over his head. It blazed like the sun, even brighter than the sun, and the forest, stunned by this overwhelming love for the people, became quiet. Danko ran forward, holding high his burning heart, lighting the road for the people, and they rushed after him. Suddenly, the forest ended, and they emerged into an ocean of sunshine and fresh air, cleansed by the rain. Danko looked at the free land, laughed proudly and fell dead. And the happy people, filled with great hopes and expectations, did not even notice Danko's death and did not see that next to his body his brave heart still burned brightly. Only one person noticed it and fearing something, stomped on the proud heart and extinguished its flame... "

In his short amazing animation, Bardin was able to meditate on many burning issues - intolerance to different opinions and religions, ignorance and lack of desire to learn the history lessons, suspicion that easily turns to hatred for someone who stands out. It is easier to worship the dead hero than to follow him while he is alive. It is unbearable to see that someone is pure and shining – it feels great to smear them, to make them as grey as everyone else around. "Adagio in G minor" widely known as simply Albinoni's Adagio, one of the most frequently recorded pieces of Baroque music, brings tragic and sublime mourning to the film. Well, I can go on for long time about deep meaning of Bardin's images and his pessimistic outlook at the modern society but first and foremost, "Adagio" is a fabulous work of art by an Artist who is known for almost supernatural sense of material. Bardin uses the objects that surround us in everyday life - matches, ropes, wires, and paper as the characters in his animated films.

Maher Panel discusses the War on Terror

The Putin System : State Managed Democracy in Russia

Farhad2000 says...

Russia for the last 8 years has benefited from America's war on terrorism, with high fluctuating oil prices and the stranglehold of gas supplies to Europe from central Asian states. Most of the economic growth was also from the maturation of many reforms passed under Yeltsin. Putin's strong stance against Chechnya and dismantling of oligarchy wins favour with the Russian public. Anything is possible for the people of Russia as long as they do not think of becoming involved politically against the Putin's KGB cadre.

However with the economy now entering recession people's lives will be affected, Putin froze the prices before elections earlier in the year, dissent would rise as the illusion of economic growth now fades and change is pushed for. The Kremlin will come down hard on anybody who will start to resist. This is the reality of State Managed Democracy in Russia.

DEC 14 2008 MOSCOW— The Russian police detained dozens of antigovernment protesters attempting to hold an unsanctioned rally in Moscow on Sunday.

Police officers and armored riot control personnel prevented the planned protest in central Moscow from materializing, in the latest sign that public expression of dissent against the authorities would not be tolerated under President Dmitri A. Medvedev any more than it had been under his predecessor, Vladimir V. Putin.

As many as 100 people were detained, including Eduard Limonov, the head of the banned National Bolshevik Party, said a spokeswoman for Other Russia, a coalition of opposition groups led by Mr. Limonov and the former chess champion Garry Kasparov, among others. The police said that about 10 people were detained during a similar protest in St. Petersburg, Interfax reported.
The Moscow demonstration was meant as a protest of the Kremlin’s handling of the financial crisis and its plans to change the Constitution to extend presidential and parliamentary term limits. Government critics say such a move could be used to extend the authority of Mr. Putin, who is now prime minister, and possibly lead to his early return to the presidency.

Mr. Putin, while he has said Mr. Medvedev will remain president until his term ends in 2012, has not ruled out running for a third term after that.

Countdown Special Comment - Prop 8

imstellar28 says...

here is my solution:

1. dissolve the legal term "marriage"
2. permit civil unions between all individuals
3. let society come up with descriptive words for different types of civil unions [i.e. marriage (man and woman), garriage (same sex), parriage (polygamy) ]
4. those who want to shun homosexual civil unions can do so...philosophically...with their freedom of speech. they can still protest, complain, etc. but they should not be permitted to legally intervene.

there is a difference between what someone can do and what someone should do.

every human should be able to enter into contract which establishes a civil union. at the same time, every human should be free hold the opinion that humans shouldn't marry the same sex, even if they are legally allowed to do so. the latter is an opinion, and it must be legally protected by the freedom of speech in the same way the that freedom to marry (garry, parry) whomever you chose must be legally protected.

the idea that someone shouldn't marry the same sex is no more "bigoted" than the idea that someone shouldn't eat at mcdonalds. it is an opinion, and it would be "bigoted" to claim that someone's opinion is invalid.

it is important to distinguish between stating your opinion (philosophical attack) and forcing your opinion (legal attack). the former is not bigotry, but the latter would be.

Huge Prop 8 Protest outside of Mormon Temple in Utah

imstellar28 says...

krupo makes a legitimate point, and while I personally don't care about semantics, an easy solution could be:

marriage: civil union between a man and woman
garriage: civil union between two men or two women
parriage: civil union orgy

so two gay people would be "garried" instead of "married". its kind of like how the Inuit have 5 different words for snow in order to describe it more accurately.

as long as people are legally permitted to enter into civil unions with whomever they are want, thats what I care about.

Spoco, I'm not so sure - my best comparison for this title is Garry's Mod for Half-Life 2, and look at what's been done with that. The community is still pretty strong after a lot of work has been done.

There's just something about playing with rudimentary physics-based gameplay in complementary, multiplayer ways, I guess.
