Smoke Shop Robbery, Las Vegas - Robber Stabbed

newtboy says...

There was more than enough time to bleed through from 7 stab wounds before he dumped him on the floor, imo. I was shocked the store owner wasn’t drenched in blood by then, but I see none at all. I just find that odd, I bleed like a water balloon if you stick me.
I also found it insane the thief didn’t seem to react to the first 4-5 stabs at all, he fought back like nothing happened at first, another reason I assumed they maybe didn’t penetrate. The last two sure did, but even the knife still looked clean coming out. WTF!? Super blood absorbing sweat shirt?

I think the owner, if charged, will go for a jury trial and be acquitted….or might take a no prison plea deal if it’s good enough. I can’t see getting a conviction in Nevada for this, unless he hires Amber Heard or Alex Jones’ lawyers. In Florida, he wouldn’t get a ticket. I doubt he’ll see jail, possibly a fine and huge civil suit. Hope he has good insurance.

Edit: I just found this piece about this robbery victim shooting a disarmed robber in the back, eventually killing him, who wasn’t charged. I think the smoke shop owner was more restrained and hope he isn’t charged either.

? Inviting him back in? What? When? They never left. I don’t think he’s claiming these were the same robbers that robbed him earlier that month, if that’s what you mean.

Edit: I do love the prominent cross on the one robber’s neck. This is what people mean when they say “I’m a Christian, I would never do something like that.”

I don't think the blood had time to penetrate the clothing he was wearing. I also believe each strike penetrated pretty well with the force he was using. I also think the owner is going to see some jail time.

The owner wanted the altercation by inviting the robber back into the store so he could get revenge.

Mark McCloskey, remember him? The terrified snowflake that pulled out guns and threatened peaceful marchers in the street walking past his house? Now running for senator, guess which party. Only one party thinks menacing peaceful protesters with death is something to applaud.
Well, he’s in trouble for claiming to be endorsed by Vanilla Ice and Yang Yang Twins (because of course he isn’t).

This you guy? This yor best? Thuggish violent liars prepared to say or do anything for power. It’s all the right has left.

How you liking Cruz showing off how anti military the right is by celebrating withholding earned medical benefits out of pure spite on the senate floor? Their “excuse” is utter nonsense lies, claiming that the bill was once discretionary spending (meaning at the whim of the current president) and has been CHANGED to mandatory spending. It’s a lie, not one word changed since they voted FOR it in June.

How about Trump chumming up to the Saudi Royal family, now saying no one knows if they were involved in 9/11 (he had no doubts in 2016 whatsoever, but now they’ve invested hundreds of millions into Trump companies). He was outraged Obama didn’t release the classified 9/11 report, then when he had the secret report detailing their involvement Trump kept it secret (for favors and investments), Biden released it and Trump now pretends he’s never heard of it, doesn’t know if the Saudis are involved, protects them when they murder Americans, and is more than apply to help them try to destroy an American sports league miles from where the towers once stood. Must make you so proud as a patriot.

Fascism, theocracy, and anti Americanism has actually become the Republican Party platform. Only the TrueType totally insane could possibly see their actions, support them, and still think themselves as American patriots. History will judge you harshly, your families will too. Your legacy is treason.

Just to rub it in how much more competent Biden is, today ended the reign of al Qaeda leader Ayman al-Zawahiri with no civilian casualties, something Trump promised and completely failed to do…so badly he gave up and agreed to surrender Afghanistan unconditionally.

Just to show how anti American and pro terrorist the right is, your talking heads like Carlson are trying to spin the killing of the mastermind of 9/11 as a bad thing that somehow makes us less safe, and are trying to blame Biden for Russia attacking Crimea and Ukraine.

Trump hosts the sponsors of 9/11 while Biden eliminates the perpetrators. Thanks Biden.

Attempted Kidnapping Put To A Stop By High School Wrestler

newtboy says...

Great job kid…..but Fuck all you assholes that didn’t help that kid hold down a crazy person, didn’t get a weapon to dispatch him, didn’t kick him in the balls hard enough to rupture them, didn’t brain him on the floor, and just stood there gawking. Yeah, kid had him in a good hold, but like the narrator said, if he reached a weapon he could have easily killed the kid and then the rest of you.

My suggestion, if you must get involved in something like this, hand to hand unarmed combat, beat their head on the ground until they are unconscious or dead. It’s the ONLY way to make it safe.

This guy will likely be out on the streets quickly, prisons are over full, mental institutions too. Violent terroristic rioters that attacked America are getting probation. Nobody has the time or resources to “fix” this guy, not in America. He should have just ended right there on that floor.

Your comments are uninformed.

A new factory does not become profitable until your up around the 70% full production capacity. Berlin and Texas just opened and putting out about 1000/week. This need to get to about 15000/week.

FOX news bitching about salaried layoffs -- And your point is what?

However, Tesla is hiring hundreds of factory floor employees.

You have any other observations to share?

Please enlighten me with your wisdom.

You’re 1/2 right…we did have a leader, Obama, now we have a joke of an ex president who’s as unpresidential as possible and a whining, sniveling coward…but we do have a leader as president again. Sleepy Joe, kicking ass and taking names in his sleep! Wiped the floor with Dumb Donny.

America had an ex president that was a leader. Now we have an ex president that’s a bad joke. FTFY

This is what a leader looks like, Bob.
Not the privileged cowardly draft dodger who tried to blackmail Zelenskiy by withholding military aid during a Russian invasion and divided the nation irreparably, but the Ukrainian Jon Stewart who stayed and took up arms with his citizens uniting them against a super power.

This is a leader, Bob.

Now, look back at what the utter failure, traitorous Trump had to say about him when the blackmail attempt failed.
Or watch a leader lead….

Report” Blames Biden Administration For Chaotic Withdrawal

The simple tool that can open most US stores

newtboy says...

Unless they have intent to use them, or have knowledge that that’s what they’re made for, no? That’s what it says in the law, isn’t it?

“ Every person having upon him or her in his or her possession a picklock, crow, keybit, crowbar, screwdriver, vise grip pliers, water-pump pliers, slidehammer, slim jim, tension bar, lock pick gun, tubular lock pick, bump key, floor-safe door puller, master key, ceramic or porcelain spark plug chips or pieces, or other instrument or tool with intent feloniously to break or enter into any building, railroad car, aircraft, or vessel, trailer coach, or vehicle as defined in the Vehicle Code, or who shall knowingly make or alter, or shall attempt to make or alter, any key or other instrument named above so that the same will fit or open the lock of a building, railroad car, aircraft, vessel, trailer coach, or vehicle as defined in the Vehicle Code, without being requested to do so by some person having the right to open the same, or who shall make, alter, or repair any instrument or thing, knowing or having reason to believe that it is intended to be used in committing a misdemeanor or felony, is guilty of a misdemeanor. ”

I have this opinion, (that police (and some prosecutors) will ascribe intent to anyone in possession of any tools, even those with other uses, so they wouldn’t hesitate to do the same for tools that are clearly purpose built breaking and entering tools having been advertised as such and with no other use,) because I watched a friend be arrested in the 80’s for having a screwdriver and pliers in their backpack that the police called “burglary tools”. He did not have a history of burglary. The case was dropped when they instead charged him with <.5 grams of marijuana for some crumbs found loose in the bottom in his backpack and sent him juvie for 6 months. (I think he was on probation, I know the police wanted to charge him with anything….and did.). I was accused of having lockpicks once because I had picked up a few metal brush bits from a street sweeper in a parking lot and police saw me pick them up, arrested, then released me on site when the supervisor showed up and heard their story.

I think the last sentence of that paragraph puts him in danger, since he clearly has reason to believe at least some of the burglary tools he sells to the public are going to be used criminally.

I don’t want to see you give someone advice that could get them in serious trouble, I know you would feel terrible. You might be correct, technically without intent to commit a crime they’re legal to own, but in reality police and prosecutors decide your intent and I don’t trust them one whit.

My understanding is that it is legal for anyone to purchase and possess lock picking tools. Seller does have to obtain info regarding purchaser, but just basic stuff.

Here are the California codes regarding such tools.

Oh, you sure got me, Garth.

Biden sure kicked his ass at the ballot box!
Whatever you would like to say about Biden, however you want to belittle him, you can’t escape the fact that he’s the guy that beat Trump by a landslide. Every time you insult him, you insult Orange Daddy a tiny bit more, cause old sleepy grandpa Joe mopped the floor with him. D’oh!

Biden’s made it an entire year without having anyone I’ve heard of in either his campaign or administration arrested and convicted for serious crimes on Biden’s behalf….how many of Trump’s people were convicts, or state witnesses, or under investigation that would lead to conviction by one year in? I don’t THINK it was triple digits that early, but it might have been.

Oh, and Biden didn’t try to overthrow democracy by coup….so, point set and match-Biden.

Oh, never mind, they’re only running at 5-10% capacity at the small (10000 - 15000 seat) stadiums that they booked. That means a free upgrade is guaranteed, buy nose bleed seats, you’ll be sitting in the floor seating anyway.
But he’s so popular, how can that be? His photoshopped photos show every single seat filled…too bad for them local news also took footage showing the reality of near empty stadiums.

Let's talk about altering the Supreme Court....

bobknight33 says...

To say that Republicans are politicizing the supreme court is nonsense. Democrats pick left leaning and Republicans pick right leaning. This is not new. Where were your complaints of politicizing when Sotomayor or Kagen were appointed?

But if you want to go there it started with Senator Ted Kennedy within minutes of Bork being picked by POTUS Reagen to be appointed took to the floor of the senate and thrown down the gauntlet.

They may be lean more conservative today however Its been leaning left last 50 years.

The fact that cases are now before the court is because some conservatives feel there is a chance to have their cases win.

Why bring these case before the supreme court if you know you would have a high likely to loose. All the cost time and effort.

Ruh -roe!

Trump’s all encompassing NDAs are invalid. As usual, he overreached, tried to control everything his subordinates said forever. It forced them to, using the judges words, “never say anything negative about Trump, his family, his businesses, or his administration for life”. The judge called it unenforceable, and since he made them all sign the same NDA, they’re all void. He can still sue any who talk, assuming he can find a lawyer dumb enough to work for him, but he’ll lose.

Expect tons of new revelations about how he operates, none good. Of course, he’ll attack any who does as a piece of shit, just like over half of his “best people” he had working for him….running the government while he watched tv. Crazy how many of them he now says are horrible, inept, self centered, disloyal morons who couldn’t do their jobs….almost like he’s projecting his estimation of himself on any ex employee.

Wasn’t his claim to fame that he hires only the best people? Doesn’t that make him an abject failure at the one thing he seemed to do well…hiring competent people to run his affairs?

Expect another round of massive lawsuits to come shortly, lawsuits he can’t defend against because no lawyer will go near him, they like to be paid for their work and Trump is famous for stiffing everyone but especially lawyers.

Edit: Also, he’s off the Forbes 400….not that he ever belonged there. They originally took his worthless word for how much he was worth….a number exponentially larger than the one he gave the IRS, btw. Now even he can’t lie enough to appear to be in the richest 400 people in America. Better, if he had divested from his properties instead of using his office to illicitly steer business to them (business that stopped after Jan 20 when there was no longer a reason for foreign powers to bribe him by, say, renting out floors in Trump tower that went unused for 4 years, or villas at his golf clubs)….if he had taken his money and invested in S&P 500 he would have made billions instead of losing billions. He’s a horrific businessman.

Absolutely. A quick bowl rinse and an hourly outer bowl cleanse is probably grand.

I like the idea of a floor rinse, but particularly where sandals are detected. As any guy knows, if you pee wearing sandals you get a lot more splash on the floor than normal. Weird, but true!

After the recent IPCC climate report an old 'Newsroom' clip

newtboy says...

*doublepromote someone else finally telling the truth, even if it is just a fictional tv character. I’ve been saying the same thing since around 2000. If we went all in, halted all co2 emissions and all methane emissions 20 years ago, and invested in methods to catch and sequester what we already emitted, we might have avoided the tipping point where we are no longer in control….but instead we increased emissions every year, flooring it towards that cliff and hitting the nitrous button.
*quality if inconvenient truths

That tipping point was reached well over a decade ago when methane started to melt out of permafrost and the deep ocean where it has been frozen for eons. It’s capable of causing warming >80 times as much as co2 short term, >25 times as much long term, and is boiling out at rapidly increasing rates. Pre 2006 it’s estimated around .5 million tons per year…2006 it was measured at 3.8 million tons…by 2013 that was up to 17 million tons with the trend increasing. More recent estimates are hard to find, but it’s agreed that as temperatures climb not only are hydrates melting much more rapidly, bacteria are also accelerating decomposition in the thawed permafrost, and they emit methane. The Arctic is warming up to 5 times faster than the average global temperature. It’s likely over 50 million tons per year by now if not much higher.

Shakhova et al. (2008) estimate that not less than 1,400 gigatonnes (Gt=1 billion tons) of carbon is presently locked up as methane and methane hydrates under the Arctic submarine permafrost, and 5–10% of that area is subject to puncturing by open taliks. They conclude that "release of up to 50 Gt of predicted amount of hydrate storage [is] highly possible for abrupt release at any time". That would increase the methane content of the planet's atmosphere by a factor of twelve in one shot….game over.

Bear in mind, 1 cubic meter of hydrate contains >160 cubic meters of methane gas at atmospheric pressure.

The amount of increase from bacterial emissions in rotting permafrost is debatable, but even the lowest estimates are insurmountable.

This is only one of dozens of KNOWN feedback loops already in action, and there are definitely unknown feedback systems we can’t predict.

This does not mean there’s nothing to be done, we can still mitigate the damage somewhat, maybe slow the rate of change enough that some animals and plants more advanced than bacteria survive long term. It does mean a massive >99% culling of humanity, a total shift in civilization from a money based civilization to one focused on survival, and likely an unavoidable mass extinction rivaling any previous extinctions.
