Show Me How To Live - Audioslave

EDD says...

The film that inspired this video is Vanishing Point (1971).

"Barry Newman is "Kowalski", an enigmatic figure who has tried everything in his life from stock car racing to the military, and failed at every one of his endeavors. Working as an auto delivery man, he gets an order to transport a 1970 Dodge Challenger R/T to San Francisco, and makes a bet with a few friends that it can be done in an impossibly short time. After loading up on "ups" and throttling the car westward, he is soon pursued vigorously by the police and embraced by the public as something of a hero. During a time when national speed limits were all controversy, this film provides a compelling argument against them: A fast car in the hands of a capable driver is not dangerous. Even the police, so caught up in their own system, don't realize that they are the only ones causing accidents and endangering the public while blindly trying to keep up with and capture Kowalski."

It's ok. I think I was still feeling a bit raw from the beauty video debacle and ensuing responses. It can be hard not to take stuff personally, sometimes.

Sorry, that was just meant to poke some fun. You make a point, but I just don't see how a commercial calling guys with fast cars small is really going to create a huge problem. From my perspective, they're just trying to get meatheads to slow down, especially in the residential areas, like you said.
I don't think that stereotype holds any merit, though, because some people simply enjoy going fast. I know I do (but I would never have a little car with a fart can on it).

Once again, sorry if I offended. Stupid internets can't convey the way things are said too well.

It's a real ad campaign addressing a real problem, MG. Just as you showed concern for your community with your post about contraceptives being offered in gradeschool, I am voicing my concern about a real problem in my community.
Don't try to put me down for that, or it will only make you look like an ignorant prick, of which I am sure you are not.

Persephone and Quboid need to smoke some weed and just chill out. It's a funny video, nothing more.

LOL! My parents went to high school with Bon Losee, the dude who wrecked the Ferrari Enzo shown in this video. The bastard was notorious for wrecking the fast cars his parents would buy for him, even back then.

I had even seen that car with my own two eyes, and the same eyes almost wept when I saw the million dollar beauty totaled on the local news...

"As far as the RV's and Dodge caravan, it was more about seeing them on the autobahn rather than the availability in their region."
For the record, the German autobahn is not any kind of a special road for fast cars as your statement implies. It is basically just a big freeway. One neat thing about it, however, is that the speed limits fluctuate depending on traffic/road conditions and are displayed on digital signs that change with the situation. (I saw a show about it on Discovery a couple of years ago.) Another very interesting thing is that the most severe insult German drivers can deal to one another is to tap the index finger to your temple. This implies to the other driver that they have mental problems. They get furious at this insult. I've tried it here in America, but everyone looks at me like I'm mental.

Top Gear is one of the coolest vehicle-oriented shows on television... just google Top Gear (on the video side) and you'll see plenty. They like to race the worlds fastest cars against other fast cars, jets, helis, etc.
