Installing Android 2.2 on the Droid now. Supposed to be a huge improvement. Plus I can develop for that phone without problems.
Original iPhone Commercial Updated (Parody)
But you did start this off by saying you weren't into "hardwired buttons" because Windows isn't as solid as the OS on an ipod Touch.
I just don't think that makes any sense - what's the point of comparing them when they are so different?
The fact that phones use haptics suggests to me that the feedback from physical buttons is something that we all need and miss with touch devices. Personally I would like a real keyboard on my phone but getting that bigger screen seems like a fair trade-off. Maybe a slide-out keyboard is a future option for me.
>> ^jmd:
I wasn't refering to keyboards, neither the droids nore the iphones have a hardware keyboard. The majority of their interface use is not by typing either. I was concentrating more on the visual user interface..the windows themselves. The majority of Windows naggles are related to the operating systems upkeep of its internals and overhead, and how it handles application launches and such. The OS simply priorities the UI with the rest of the program, and that falls apart when under windows rules "It is acceptable to use most or even all cpu cycles for another program or windows upkeep process". Comparatively, the iphones/itouches put a bigger emphasis on making sure applications startup, run, and exit smoothly, and that video (interface visuals) does not lag or stutter while you are trying to use the touch screen to touch and move things.
Exiting 3d games has always been one of the most uggliest things in windows as a residual black window is left on the desktop for a second or more and the OS thrashes as swap memory of the windows that just became viewable is loaded into the freed memory. On the iphone on the other hand, while playing a 3d game, if I hit the home button the screen scales out and fades smoothly, and the audio slowly fades out. No pauses..no black screens..no sudden sound cut outs. It is extremely graceful. But that is enough of me rambling.

An EVO 4G Salesman Confronts an iPhone 4 Shopper
I wouldn't bother with this any more but the fact that it's the EVO is a sore spot.
The EVO has to be one of the WORST phones I've ever touched (yes I own one, I own many many phones), if you want a decent Android phone, the Nexus One is the best at the moment. Don't even start on the Droid, I don't understand any one who likes that piece of junk, looks like ass, feels like ass, nothing special hardware wise.
There is nothing wrong with loving Android, as in the OS, also I understand some of the points in the video are about Android in general but the EVO is rubbish, the only time I ever touch it is when I need to test something and even then, I dread it.
I'm not currently in possession of the iPhone 4 but I've been using iOS4 for a while, it is an excellent OS, Android has its merits but it is still playing catch up. Maybe Gingerbread.
An EVO 4G Salesman Confronts an iPhone 4 Shopper
You're in a 7/11, you're 18 years old, you don't know shit about shit, and pull up your pants!>> ^Croccydile:
You should see how its like trying to by a normal phone these days. It is like Dennis Leary trying to get coffee flavoured coffee.
"Yeah can I get this $50 phone?"
"What about this HTC Hero?!!?!?"
"Uhh no thanks I just want this one..."
"BUT I HEARD YOU LIEK MUDKIPS... How about this Verizon Droid?!?!"
"I just want to make phone calls..."
"BUT YOU MUST SPEND LOTS OF MONEY ON THIS IPHONE 4G!!! It also comes with extra salsa"
"Can I just take the pre-paid phone instead?"
"?SYNTAX ERROR"
"Uhhh... I think ill be going now"

iPhone 4 Fail: Proof of Dropped Calls when Held in Left Hand
Anything they can do, Droid can do better. Droid can do anything better than them.
Androideroids - Cool multiplayer Asteroids using Androids
Sweet! That's cool. I didn't know there was an air client for Droid. Also didn't know you could network into a desktop air app like that. Hmmm.
The Android Phone is for Porn
Lol Droid FTW. I love my Droid, I can actually make phone calls on it!

Adobe Flash Coming Soon to the Google Android OS
I have a Droid and although I can put movies and TV shows on it Flash would be a big deal and a lot of fun. A Hulu app for Droid...awesome.
Robotic Smartphone Screen Test

^ I think the Droid, Eris, and Nexus all use capacitive touch, though an older version than the iPhone being tested.
If that Droid is a capacitive touch screen, then it's quite possibly the worst capacitive touch screen I've ever seen tested.
Ick.
Yea, the others are definitely better. The specs say the Droid is capacitive, so that's what I'm going by.
I have a Droid, but the screen really isn't terrible. I can't touch the screen lightly enough that it doesn't register, so sensitivity isn't ever an issue. The only problems I come across with accuracy are either with very small links (zoomed out on web pages) or when using the vertical keyboard (might miss the key 1 or 2 times out of 10).
Those accuracy issues are compensated by the physical keyboard and pinch-zooming in the browser (Dolphin). I also have 2.1 (cyanogen + 1Ghz kernal) on there so speech-to-text is available as well.
I certainly wouldn't complain if the screen were more accurate, but it isn't as much of a problem as the robotic test would seem to indicate. Besides, I figured my Droid would be obsolete in under a year anyway. =)
