Maybe it's because his act is just him making race jokes, and to me, the funniest comedy isn't about having a "bit" it's stories.
Example.. Danny Bhoy, he's Scottish, and that plays into it his act somewhat, but when I went to see him his act was about places he's gone, people he's interacted with and whatnot.. Not just stereotypes.

I didn't hear anything that played on race.
I think what he means is material spoken by a black person to a largely black audience. And maybe that doesn't resonate with him.
I don't know what else he's supposed to do. He's only 12 and the material suits him. Great first joke, the rest isn't quite worthy of the crowd reactions but yeah he's a talented dood.

Race jokes? I felt like the jokes were more about age than race. I was mostly impressed with his delivery and timing and yeah, confidence. I think it takes a lot for comedians to master those kinds of things.
I do know what you mean about hearing a great story though - but this kid is only 12, so cut him a break! >> ^Shepppard:

Why aren't there more women on QI?
>> ^Shepppard:
I know what you mean Spoco, I actually just had tickets to go see Danny Bhoy (Who, granted has a tiny 'Bit' about making fun of him being scottish, but mainly tells stories like you said).
We saw him live at the Queen Elizibeth Theatre in Toronto, so that's not the same set he used, but he's one of my favourite comedians at the moment.
I do enjoy Danny Bhoy indeed, he's got such a warm presence that it's hard not to love him... Diddley Dee Potatoes.
