The TRUTH about the PS3's backwards compatibility...
>> ^EMPIRE:

Well... let's count the nails in PS3's coffin:
8- Metal Gear Solid 4 is also not an exclusive anymore.
And I'm sure there are a few more I don't even remember right now.
You sure about that?

Fox News on SNL's Olbermann's sketch (they LOVE it)
^ I kinda agree with Westy. Fox News has already put so many nails in their coffin, it's beginning to look like Hellraiser's morning wood.
Ayn Rand on Religion
HadouKen24, why?
Because she sucked at philosophy. Her epistemology and metaphysics were not even close to sophistication and nuance of the works of the Vienna Circle, whose philosophical contributions were similar in aim and attitude, but far superior in quality. She did not come close to answering the challenges presented by the pragmatism of William James or the holism of W. V. O. Quine. (The Quine-Duhem thesis pounds the last nail in the coffin of Objectivism.)
Her ethical thought, while correct in its rejection of a hard fact-value distinction, nonetheless failed to account for or take into account important facts about human nature and psychology. As a result, it is abysmal--not only wrong, but horribly and dangerously wrong.
While Rand occasionally refers to previous philosophers like Kant and Aristotle, the way she made use of their works made it clear that her understanding of them was cursory at best.
Was Jesus just another sun god

What kind of parent buys their child a coffin?
Paul Newman - RIP (Cinema Talk Post)
Be on the lookout for "Newman's Own: Coffins" flooding the market.
I kid, I kid. Paul Newman, class-act. *tips hat*
No dive board? No Problem!
Appropriate that the pool is coffin shaped.
Palin "Obama's message resonating even with Alaskans"
reporters NEVER take it to the final question, never drive the nail in the coffin. "And you don't think McCain offers the same change?"
Bill Maher on Palin in CNN Situation Room 9/9/08
I do seriously wonder why the Democrats don't attack the Republicans on their foreign policy record. It's their utterly unsubstantiated de facto rallying call. Every time there's a situation like the Kosovo secession or Russia-Georgia conflict, they get a free bump in the polls.
The Democrats should point out unilateral resoluteness and belligerence has not produced success and link that to the Cold War-like us-against-them policy approach McCain is conveying. They should continually hammer the point that the Bush administration, previously perpetually rejecting negotiations with Iran and North Korea, has succumbed to pragmatism. They should point to the multiple studies have shown that Americans are not safer, the mindnumbing redundancy of the terrorist watchlist, and put the nail in the coffin by pointing out Osama has not been captured as your symbolic centrepiece.
Every time the Republicans revert to terrorism or 9/11 campaigns, they get scolded for resorting to the politics of fear. That isn't the root of the issue, all political campaigns resort to emotions, whether it be to patriotism, to traditional values and the times of old, to a sense of duty or need to subsume to a greater purpose. Fear is no different. The issue is fear triggers a Pavlovian mental link to national security, foreign policy and the presumed Republican strength in that regard.
That is the paradigm that needs to be challenged.
After all, the Republicans are continuously praised in the success of their political campaigns for their ability to go after the opposition candidate's strengths, why can't Obama do likewise?
New Army Commercial - US vs You
^It's probably better for recruitment than showing a little girl crying over the coffin of her father who died on the last day of his 4th stop-loss.
Concentration Camps in the USA: Scary Conspiracy (Worldaffairs Talk Post)
It seems far out there, but its not a joke.
I'm trying to find all the things that tell me this stuff isn't true but I cant seem to find any thing on the internet that tells me its fake.
Its been around since the 1980s after the contra.
Not trying to be alarmist, but this is the first I've heard of this.
There are places that have huge plots of land with plastic boxes stacked up, look like coffins.

These are coffin liners, but according to these guys they havent been used for interment of bodies at normal graveyards.
This is questionable, stuff.
Having an opinion is above Obama's pay grade
I don't think Obama necessarily believes that he is a political messiah, but I know people who sure think he is. I've also read comments here throughout the nomination process where people are really expecting monumental things from this guy like he is going to raise his staff and bring world peace. I've come to realize throughout the past few months when discussing this with friends of differing political beliefs that the things that bother me about Obama are positives to them. The same thing here. You say that your are pinning hopes on Obama to bring about the ascendancy of the Democratic platform. That is the last thing I would want to see. Not only have the Democrats failed to deliver on just about every single promise they made to gain congressional control, but they have an approval rating even lower than Bush right now. This coming from Americans of all political affiliations.
He has also caved on more than FISA. He retracted his initial statements about the surge being a useless idea and pretended to be a supporter. A Virginia democrat claimed the surges success was credited to Obama. Obama now professes the success of the surge in a complete 180 from his original statements that it would worsen the situation. When asked if he could go back to the moment he voiced his opposition to the surge, and use the information he has now to make his decision, Obama said that he would not change his opinion since being opposed to Bush was more important at the time than the outcome. He also reversed his position on gun control while cleaning up the mess from his clinging to God and guns statement about Pennsylvania.
I see Obama as a man with loads of good intentions that will serve to break this country even further. Bush went crazy with the Patriot Act and other expansions of government power in the name of saftey. Spending is getting out of control and the economy is slow. I think Obama will drive the nail in its coffin with full support of a Democratic ascendancy.
