Mourning in America

newtboy says...

Businesses like Blue Flame? They're the fake company created in late March to take hundreds of millions in deposits for medical products they couldn't produce....ventilators, ppe, etc. They took state's money and utterly failed to secure or ship any of the lifesaving supplies they contracted for and have been sued by multiple states for the cash back, but no one can get back the lives they ended by not supplying the medical supplies or by wasting states time and resources relying on them.
One guess who started this fake supply company....Republican lobbyists and fundraisers who quit their jobs in March to start this deadly con.....a con Trump facilitated by refusing to take federal control over the supply lines and instead telling states to fend for themselves with zero federal oversight, pitting them against each other AND the federal government who often seized scarce medical supplies found by the states, only to hand them off to middlemen who then resold them to the states again (and likely tipped off the feds so they could seize more supplies). That's a recipe for cons like this....as a repeatedly convicted con man himself (fraudulent school con, fraudulent charity con just to name two convictions for fraud from the last 4 years), Trump was well aware that's the case.

Honest Ads - Why Credit Cards Are A Scam

Curious says...

Huh, I only charge things that I have the cash to pay for by the next billing cycle. Easy, and the cash back actually works for me. I don't understand using a credit card at 25% interest as a long-term financing prospect, especially when you can get a loan at 4%.

Reid Hitting Romney Hard Over (Possibly) Unpaid Taxes

bareboards2 says...

You can't legally shelter funds from taxation in Swiss bank accounts. You are taxed on your worldwide income when you are a resident of the US.

The olly olly oxen deal was for Corporations -- businesses that aren't US residents, that only do business in foreign countries with lower tax rates. They can't bring the cash back to America without paying US taxes. The olly olly deal was to let the corporations bring cash back into America at lower rates than normal.

I understand that Rmoney doesn't want his tax returns to be picked apart.

But he can easily provide Page one and page two, which have no details, just totals. Then we can see what rate of tax he paid. But he isn't doing that. And that makes me think that he probably did pay very low taxes for some of those years.

His earnings on his Swiss bank accounts were taxed in America though -- they were on his tax return and that is why we all found out that he had a lot of money parked over there. And that is why he doesn't want to release his full tax returns -- folks read "Swiss bank accounts" and get all in a tizzy. I can understand him wanting to avoid that kind of ignorance. So? Release page one and page two.

>> ^ObsidianStorm:

I suspect that Romney was one of the guys who sheltered massive amounts of money in Swiss bank accounts to avoid US taxes and then took advantage of the 2009 ollyollyoxenfree that allowed that money to be moved back into the US without penalties.
Just my guess...

Cheating in College

jmd says...

Payback, uhmm, an atm spitting money out would need to be reported to the fbi if they want their cash back. Now sure, about all they would have is you on that awesome studio grade camera on the atm machine, but since it would become a federal investigation they MAY pull close by security cameras to locate a car.. or another place you shopped at and may have used a card. The whole process is pretty much the same as if a money bag was left or fell off a brinks truck. The money isn't traceable and the bets they can really do is however involved in security cameras they choose to get.

Its such a rare incident though, there are so many electronics that need to fail in perfect harmony for money to continually spit out, so you never hear of it. There are easily way more atm attempted breakins to worry about.

Bank of America Adds Monthly Debit Card Fee

Credit unions are the way to go. Better service, better value and far less evil. As far as convenience goes, most of them are networked together, so you can deposit or withdraw anywhere you like.

My credit union and USAA accounts both stopped offering their swipe bonus's in reaction to the new regulations. So while BOA is most likely being overly evil, I know I felt some of the regulatory effect, even from my credit union and non-profit banking institution. No more cash back for swiping in my future

"Look How Dangerous These School Teachers & Nurses Are!"

dystopianfuturetoday says...

Think of it as trickle up economics. Through taxes, you take stagnant funds from the super rich and use them for infrastructure projects (taking up the slack for the lack of decent paying private sector jobs) and in the process creating jobs and wealth for the working class. Then these newly employed people put all that earned cash back into the economy, creating profit for business and tax revenue for the government. It's redistribution of wealth, but done in such a way that the money trickles back to where it started, helping everyone else along the way as that money finds its way once again into corporate coffers. In order to make a big enough dent in unemployment, the stimulus package needs to be massive. This plan worked well for FDR, effectively ending the great depression, which is no small feat. Obama's much less ambitious stimulus plan was not enough to get the job done.

>> ^blankfist:

^Haha. Obama's stimulus was too small, he says. Fuck me sideways, I'll never understand you statists. Maybe we should print another couple trillion or so, keep feeding it to the top percent in the corporatist and banking machine see if that helps the poor out this time? Maybe the banks will lend this time? Or maybe the corporatist giants won't take the golden parachute this time and instead will reinvest in American jobs?
If it doesn't work, we can always say the amount wasn't enough and start all over again.

How To Get Back Overdraft Fees From Your Bank

imstellar28 says...

If you are that worried about overdraft charges, maybe use a credit card? or use online billpay to write checks? Using a debt card is just stupid if you are bordering on insufficient funds, especially when many credit cards give 1-3% cash back on purchases.

ROAST X: ITS XTREME!!!! (Parody Talk Post)

alien_concept says...

I think we're all missing one vital fact here. The reason no-one can sufficiently roast this douchepump is simply because he's so indescribably banal. I've seen more usable material on a Swedish naturist reserve. Conversing with him for more than 10 minutes is much like sticking needles in ones eyes, except much more painful and far less of a turn on.

I think we all know that he let us see that photo with him and the pretty girl to give the impression he could actually get a member of the female species to come within a 20 foot radius of him, but what we don't know is that she is in fact a French stripper he met in Amsterdam and 30 seconds later she handed him half of his cash back and blamed her menstrual cycle for not giving him a dance.

I'm sorry a law degree? Whatever! Methinks this is one of those lies you tell on the internet, but it's obvious he's not got the brain capacity to flip burgers, let alone submit a dissertation for fucks sake. Anyone who says "Legs? What the hell are they good for" is clearly lacking somewhat in the education department.

I'm sorry I can't waste anymore time on this monacle wearing, cane tapping, the-only-way-I-can-look-cool-is-to-listen-to-Dylan pretentious Norwegian tosspot any longer, I have a bikini line to wax. Good day!

Saudi Road Skating

From my post in the other, duplicate-sift version of this:

I can't believe none of you have gone car door skiing in the rain. You have no lives. It's a rite of passage.

A friend of mine had his cruise control on a wired remote so he could do this while driving the car with us out the other three doors... this was before the YouTube... heck, it was before the Interwebs. Wish I had the cash back then to film it (no such thing as digital imaging).

PBS breaks media blackout on story of Pentagon propaganda

Hive13 says...

Do you honestly think that this is the first time in the history of our country that has happened.

The Pentagon provided military analysts to networks. I am quite sure the networks were aware that these people were coming from the Pentagon. Logic would dictate that is the Pentagon introduced you to an individual then said person would remain in contact with the Pentagon. A four star General, after 40 years in the service, is an extremely prized asset for any defense contractor and most of them enter into that role or as a lobbyist for special defense interest groups. Saying that these 75 "special pentagon agents" are something out of the ordinary is silly.

Saying that there was some secret propaganda machine at work seems a little tinfoil hat to me. Todays media is a biased, cash backed, forced opinion mess. Everything they put out has a hidden agenda.
