newtboy jokingly says...

A reminder…there’s well over 1000….

151 NV Governor Jim Gibbons - accused of assaulting a woman, settled a civil suit

152 PA GOP Congressman Don Sherwood - not for having an affair, but for assaulting and choking the woman he had an affair with

153 Republican Judge Mark Fuller - domestic violence

154 GOP Rep Trent Franks - harassment of his office staff - to serve as a surrogate for him and his wife, this makes me feel sad, actually

155 GOP Congressional aide Matthew Pennell - child molesting plea deal to 2 or 17 charges

156 GOP Presidential candidate Herman Cain - sexual harassment

157 Tennessee GOP state rep Scott DesJarlais - OK, these are consensual affairs, but with PATIENTS!!!!

158 GOP Rep John Schmitz - John Birch Society member had two families (one he did not support) - and obviously there was some sickness going on because one of his daughters is Mary Kay LeTourneau the child-raping teacher.

159 California GOP Rep Ernie Konnyu - sexual harassment

160 Styles Bridges - R-MA - This man was filth. He extorted Dem Sen Hunt of WY that he would reveal his son’s homosexuality unless Hunt resigned so the R’s could get his seat. Hunt refused, but then killed himself. This headline is from a citizen’s jury, not a real one

161 Joe McCarthy, R-WI, started the Lavender Scare, a purge of gays from government. Many other Republicans joined in. Technically not a crime, but surely an immoral act

162 Pastor Roy D. Bolden, Providence RI GOP Chair child molestation and sexual assault

163 Ron P Broussard, Jr of TRUMP UNIVERSITY - sex with 8-year-old

164 Republican state senate candidate Sherman Lee Criner - molesting a 6-year-old girl. Prosecutors used an unusual standard of enough evidence to convict rather than probable cause, possibly because he is a popular lawyer. NOT CLEARED, just not indicted

165 Wenatchee Republican Michael T McCourt molested children for 30 years behind a civic front as a utilities commissioner, political operative and community volunteer, Then asked judge for leniency because of all his community activism

166 Unsuccessful Republican candidate William C Mach - child molestation. Ironically, he ran on a campaign to fight child molestation and was endorsed by related organizations

Dn61JpVUUAAh619.jpg-large.jpeg
167 Republican Sheriff Perry Grogan continued to campaign despite indictment for child molestation, probably because of disgraceful coverage like this in the screenshot. He was convicted.

Dn65azvV4AEabLA.jpg-large.jpeg
168 Republican campaign consultant and Baptist pastor Kenneth Adkins - child molestation. By the way, he said Pulse victims got what they deserved. So should he.

169 GOP candidate for OH legislature James E. Dutschke = child molestation, also investigated for ricin letters to Obama

170 Brian O'Toole, Republican Sunnyvale mayor convicted of child molestation. See screenshot as the newspaper is on NewsBank, accessible with some library cards, but not for everyone.

Dn69oLGUwAEfpET.jpg
171 Last month Indianapolis Republican City Councilman Jeff Miller resigned/plea deal for child molestion

172 While Douglas Marks was a teacher, he was probably able to abuse two generations of children because of his wealthy Republican family. His brother was Speaker of the House.

173 Vermont Republican state senator Norman McAllister who's one of the Legislature's most outspoken conservatives charged with sexual assault, human trafficking, and prohibited acts. Made a plea deal

174 SC Rep Chris Corley - domestic violence

175 Gordon Blake, a CA political activist who twice ran unsuccessfully for the GOP nomination to the state legislature - child molesting, sentenced to 194 years.

Anonymous Exposes Ron Paul

dystopianfuturetoday says...

@aurens, One of the main techniques Ron Paul uses to manipulate people like you is by telling you that his definition of liberty is the ONLY definition, and that his interpretation of the constitution is the ONLY interpretation. By doing this, he leads you to believe that you are heroically fighting for liberty and the constitution, when in reality you are actually fighting for a very partisan and fringy set of far right political beliefs.

I find this fundamentally dishonest, whether you are aware you are doing it or not. I was mocking you, yes, but don't assume humor can't be 'part of the conversation' too.

Without using delusional 'constitution liberty, blah blah blah' type rhetoric, tell me why federal civil rights protections should be ended. Become part of the conversation.

Important point---> The constitution is like the Bible; people can use it to justify just about anything they want it to. This is fine, but when you use the circular reasoning that 'my candidate's subjective interpretation of the constitution is the ONLY interpretation of the constitution, therefore I am right and you are wrong by default', people like me might mockingly call you out on your self deception.

And, @artician, don't give me that condescending and assumptive 'you might learn something' bullshit. I've studied and discussed Ron Paul and libertarianism intensively over the last few years. The more I learn, the less I like it, which probably explains why Paul's support is wider than it is deep. I doubt you have anything more to teach be, as I seem to know more about the movement than you do, but if you have a new talking point, feel free to recite it for me. Ron Paul is a joke. If you are interested in learning about your candidate, here are some study materials: http://www.reddit.com/r/politics/comments/of1yc/why_ron_paul_is_possibly_the_worst_presidential/

As far as 'racism' goes, how many excuses are Ron Paul supporters going to come up with before they come to terms with the fact that this guy, if not racist himself, has certainly used racism for profit and political advancement?

The facts (off the top of my head, I'm sure there are more)
-RP ran a number of racist newsletter for many years.
-RP changed his position on the letters from 'the quotes were taken out of context' to 'I didn't write them.
-Many members of his staff have attested that he signed off on these letters.
-He has been photographed with many white supremacists.
-He has received campaign contributions from big names in white supremacist circles, which he kept.
-He has appeared on white supremacist talk radio shows.
-He speaks for the John Birch society.
-He was against the civil rights act.
-Anonymous found heavy organizational ties between RP and white supremacists.
-He uses the same states rights rhetoric as white supremacists.

How much smoke do you need to inhale before you pull the fire alarm?

Enough hero worship already. Try Occam's Razor instead.

RichardDawkinsNet: The Best Reason To Oppose Ron Paul (Religion Talk Post)

kceaton1 says...

For as long as Huntsman was here in Utah and then his actual time as governor, he was a very good middle of the road Republican. I'd be happy to take him back as governor. His Lt. governor that took over had tea party affiliations and with no one around to oppose him, he decided to act on his impulses. Of course, he has seen bad numbers in the polls so he has pulled back. I think he forgot that he replaced Jon Huntsman without a vote and he isn't a middle of the road candidate, like I said he has Tea Party ties (like our Senator Mike Lee, who's an idiot).

Just so you know Jon Huntsman is what is known by regular attending church goers as a "Jack Mormon", basically someone that doesn't go to church all the time. I can't blame him as the services are anywhere from FOUR to SIX HOURS long! Basically, your whole day is gone and used up by the time you're done. The last poll I saw showed that the majority of Mormons were in fact "Jack Mormons". So that might explain part of his appeal here in Utah (especially in Salt Lake which happens to be very democratic in its leanings), is that he isn't a holier-than-thou type of person, which Mitt Romney emanated sometimes.

As for Ron Paul... Ron Paul lost any chance from me voting for him when I found out he had relations with the John Birch Society. It sure as hell makes sense why all of his policies are so radical.

Ron Paul in 1998 John Birch Society Documentary

kceaton1 says...

Hah, John Wayne was a member; why does that not surprise me? Sorry, but ye'ol Ron that is the last straw. I should have just looked up his background in the first place. Belonging to the John Birch Society is tantamount to pure paranoia to the tenth degree, with a ultra-right-wing-christian flavor.

I can't see it anywhere, but it seems like John Edgar Hoover would be a de facto member for sure yet it's not listed. The John Birch Society comes off more as a cult much like Scientology to some degree (both equally horrendous in their own way). One member that didn't surprise me too much was Mr. Koch himself (Daddy Koch). That one makes perfect sense...

Atleast a few people know just how ridiculous the John Birch Society is here on the sift. I'll have to look around and see if I can find a good program about them, as they most deservedly need their own defined space here on the sift for us to pummel into submission. Problem is most of the documentaries I've ever seen on them were done in the 1980's--so I'll have to look hard, there may be some connected to PBS.

/Goes to read all the backgrounds on all the candidates from thorough sources...
//Really surprised the John Birch thing hasn't come up far more often and much more earlier...

Oh yeah and the UN IS F@$KING SATAN!!1!1 Just so you know.

Tallest Man On Earth "The Dreamer"

calvados says...

i'm just a dreamer but i'm hanging on
though i am nothing big to offer
i watch the birds, how they dive in then gone
it's like nothing in this world's ever still

and i'm just a shadow of your thoughts in me
but sun is setting, shadows growing
a long cast figure will turn into night
it's like nothing in this world ever sleeps

oh sometimes the blues is just a passing bird
and why can't that always be
tossing aside from your birches crown
just enough dark to see
how you're the light over me

and by your side, girl, where the acres grow
into the strong and stunning meadow
a cowboy stumbling in the finest field
and nothing good out there won't be old

oh sometimes the blues is just a passing bird
and why can't that always be
tossing aside from your birches crown
just enough dark to see
how you're the light over me

sometimes the blues is just a passing bird
and why can't that always be
tossing aside from your birches crown
just enough dark to see
how you're the light over me

Congresswoman Giffords talks about Palins gun crosshair pic

bmacs27 says...

One thing is apparently clear. The shooter had extreme paranoia about government, and printed currency. I think the Palin map thing isn't the problem. It's all the assertions that government is far along in its plan to round everybody up, put a barcode on our arm, and throw us all in gulags. When people are really convinced of things like that, political violence is downright rational. I wonder if Alex Jones (aka John Birch Society v2.0) has applauded Loughner as a patriot yet.

How To Brainwash a Nation

^Yup, this is pretty silly stuff. The John Birch Society interviews ex-KGB talking about Walter Mondale (Uber Stalinist that he is) trying to demoralize the American citizenry by persuading them to overeat? Um, what?

Ed Griffin Defines Collectivism

GeeSussFreeK says...

All those problems are also in collectivism as well. It is one group collectively being selfish, self centered, and having lack of empathy. The problems of the systems is more of a problem of human nature and not the systems themselves. So the real question is, given the evil tendencies of humanity, do we want a system of humans having great power to tell other humans what to do, or a system where in large they decide for themselves.

Whatever. At least your public slapdown after that little trip to Texas (from Denmark) seems to have curtailed your constant habit of posting totally juvenile and inappropriate sexual comments. I'm not really surprised this childish video "makes sense" to you.

whoa..my douche meter just clocked that at around 120% dickogenes.
mind your own business kid.
now..about this video:
while he made some salient points on collectivism it is a pretty myopic view and ignores the pitfalls of pure individualistic society.he is spot on with the failings of collectivism but a pure individual society has pitfalls also i.e:selfishness, self centeredness, lack of empathy etc etc.
a pure individual society will find itself left behind in many areas while excelling in others.
both systems are flawed and will hamper a societies growth, hence the beauty of our constitution.it attempts to marry both philosophies.sometimes it succeeds, other times it fails but either of those philosophies taken to their extreme will ultimately destroy a society.
and the john birch society are pretty fucking extreme.
