Cops using unexpected level of force to arrest girl

Shepppard says...

@chingalera

Your delusion as to what the fuck police are baffles me. Here, we have a video clearly showing not only the cops are NOT using excessive force, be it physical or tazer, doing everything in their power to actually resolve this situation in a manor that is civil up to and including explaining why they did what they did ALL THE WHILE not releasing the information of what the girl did to keep it private (likely, there was a warrent issued for her arrest for something she did OFF camera), and yet you're still claiming to the "gun totin' bullies" schtick.

I could cite thousands of examples of police officers doing their jobs correctly, and I take PERSONAL offense to the notion that A) "All cops are cocksuckers" and B) "All cops are felons". Why? Mostly because, unlike you, I actually know quite a few personally. Including my Father, and step mother.

Lets go ahead and actually skip a shitload of the easy shit, like the fact my step mother is (and for the past almost 9 years has been) the President of an optimist group, whose primary goal is to raise funding for underprivileged children and give them access to things like sports, and in some cases educational scholorships.

Lets graze over the fact that my dad and a good deal of my own local police officers actually put on not one, but two musicals (Caught in the Act / Caught in the act II) to raise money for Charity (the womens Y, and unfortunately I can't remember the other one).

Hell, we'll even skip the time I was in DETROIT, and while on the highway blew a tire and needed to pull over to the side of the road to change it, only to have a police officer see this going the opposite direction, get off the highway, and then back ON the highway, so he could park behind us and keep his lights on so that we remained safe while doing so.

Lets focus on the fact that you're citing one example of you. Where a friend apparently was in too deep a sleep, or drugged up to answer a phone call from the people she's now paying to call the police when the alarm system goes off and they can't reach her.

They then show up, and either you, or somehow she, answers the door and lets them in, only to seemingly be a rude prick about it, and one of you winds up getting yourself arrested. Your entire post on the subject is incredibly vague (yes, I'm sure the fact that you said the cops sunglasses make you nervous was the exact reason you had whatever happen to you happen.) And yet, you still have the gall to maintain that the entire problem is with the people who did their jobs right in the first place. (You know, showing up to a distress call about a home that may be broken in to)

Also, if you're referring to those of us who actually maintain that the police aren't all the devil in bullet proof vests with badges as "cunts who are afraid to show their asses", you're once again wrong. I've stopped voicing my opinion on the matter, it typically goes nowhere. I'll cite law, you'll cite something crazily in some form of gibberish, and at the end of the day, neither person has made progress.

You want to voice your opinion, fine. I'll stay in the shadows and save both of us a lot of time arguing back and forth. DO NOT drag my family's honour through the mud by insinuating that part of it is somehow the bane of the earth because my Dad and Stepmom signed onto a group of people "To serve and protect" the damned community.

The Emperor Voiced by Mark Hamill's Joker

That was really well done. *quality

Looking back on it, Vader without the mask actually kinda sounded like Bane.

But the really interesting thing is, after all the bullshit prequels, I'd forgotten just how good the end of Jedi actually was. Ok, the ewoks were annoying, but on the other hand, you had the death star space battle and tunnel run (still one of the most exciting set pieces on film IMO), and the fantastic confrontation with genuine pathos set to one of Williams crowning musicals achievements.

It's just awesome, and it made me remember why I loved Star Wars so much as a kid.

That and the Emperor fucking terrified me.

I know my enemies and my friends and allies. I also have become quite deft at disengaging a potentially hind-brained copper from his predictable, robotic license.

My general rule of thumb is polite, courteous, etc.-Keep the robot's heart-rate down, make them feel in control, cooperate.

Sometimes this does not work, especially the further out of the city you travel, constables and sheriffs necks tend to be redder...This is Texas, you must remember and while the pigs of Tennessee, Arkansas, Alabama, Georgia, Carolinas (deep south) are much worse, you still have to factor in asshole-redneck-douchebag.

In the event I get no quarter from a cop who's simply human garbage, I let rip with my assessment, this after I already know I'm going to jail. Every time this has happened incidentally, was for unpaid parking tickets, and once for possession of an oz. of weed, which the prick searched my vehicle about 30 mins. for before he found it....A total piece of shit, this assessed after an attempt at a conversation with the asshole-The cunt risked my life with his driving as well, breaking all speed limits to get me downtown to county, probably because I would not stop verbally assaulting him from the backseat...He deserved all I had and more, the buzz-killing prick who was "JUST DOING HIS JOB."

Here's to all the people who scream "TROLL" whenever someone leaves one remark on a post without returning for a "discussion" (perhaps that's all that one felt needed said to make a simple point?)

@shatterdose "Who typically freaks out? People that are guilty or crazy"-That sounds like a willing herd animal using broad generalizations in favor of a police state.

@arekin-Agreed-I am not implying that I would have handled this scenario any differently-

@bmacs27-All relevant and valid observations-Our distrust, fear and derision of cops in the U.S. comes from conditioning-The so-called, "war on drugs" has been the bane of law enforcement since prohibition, that and CORRUPTION from top to bottom-

@moopysnooze THANK YOU!!?? How much more WILL the cattle take, eh??

And you don't think that this creates more harm than good. If you live with an adversarial relationship with your local police then you have to expect them to treat you in the same fashion. This "authority corrupts" attitude will only lead to it doing so. In my work I deal with people daily. The people who start giving me shit right away are going to get no favors from me. They are going to get the bare minimum of me doing my job and are probably going to be less happy with the experience. The people who are polite and nice get every effort I have to help them. And I don't know what hell hole of a town you live in, but most cops are just trying to get to the end of the day, just like everyone else. I would love to see a case by case scenario where you can provide evidence of a personal experience where a cop abused authority for personal gain. I'd wager that your experience of corrupt cops lies more in the realm of "he turned on his lights to run a red light" and nothing of actual abuses (no running red lights with your lights on is not an abuse of authority).

Upcoming Videos - Default order (Sift Talk Post)

lucky760 says...

Interestingly, queue sorting was a frequent topic of discussion/complaint in years past, and that only ended once we introduced the best votes-to-views ratio.

Way back when the queue first started growing to several pages long and the default ordering was Newest Queue Date, the frequent gripe was that there were so many new video submissions that other posts would keep getting pushed back beyond page 1 without getting any views. Many people had good videos going straight into the discard pile (before the Personal Queue was invented) as a result.

If we revert the default sort, that same problem will once again be the bane of every video submitter.

Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it,

I had a problem with this in just a conceptual way. First of all there's no way in hell the American government would let that stand for even a day, they'd destroy the entire fucking city and have no problem doing it. Which makes me wonder, couldn't we have it be two movies and have Bane own the city without it being a hostile takeover with guns and outward aggression? I mean Bane would be the strong man absolutely, but his handler would've done better to create a criminal utopia instead and try to drive it into the ground through corruption. You could make allusions to Chicago or Baltimore, it could get seriously deep.

Spreading it over two movies would be essential to tell a more complex and weaving tale. It would've been the greatest series of movies ever made if they had done it the hard way, I think they were just trying to get it done or something.

Well, the city was being run by a crazy warlord with an army of machine gun-toting thugs and criminals, so I'd say that the majority of Gotham were probably holed up in their houses. I know that's what I'd be doing.

And it wasn't ALL of the police in the tunnels. There were obviously a bunch of them in Blake's underground resistance, and the rest were probably hiding out like Matthew Modine.
