The criteria for employment with the local constabulary in the U.S. uses at least a 90 I.Q. as a baseline....Cops don't need to be that bright. Most cops actions are dictated by the survival circuit and are motivated by their hind-brained impulses. You don't really exercise wisdom winding-up a fight-or-flight neanderthal.

If the world was all fluffy kittens and the sky were made of cotton candy then police would be helpful assistants in our societies with duties like earning, old-lady street-crossing assistance badges and traffic-directing patches. I also don't understand why power points are being limited. If someone is posting quality videos that are making top 15 or #1, I think they should be rewarded for their efforts regardless of how many power points they have already accumulated. I'm "new" here but feel that I've spent more "time" on the site than people that have been here for many years. Now I'm entitled to only ONE power point at a time? That doesn't seem right. I am very generous with my power points. After only 8 months I already have my level 26 assister badge and am #6 on that badge list so I am obviously not abusing my points in any way. I won't be able to help people like before and that really bothers me. What DOES it matter how many points a person is hoarding? If they have been earned from posting great videos and great comments, a person should feel free to use them (or not use them) as they wish...

Actually I guess that could work.

I think the badge levels should double at each level.

Badge level 1 - 100 points total.
Badge level 2 - 300 points total.
Badge level 3 - 700 points total.
Badge level 4 - 1500 points total.
etc.

That should really keep them within a suitable range over time.

As soon as a video hits the "Top Videos" list, sifty can go back and check who were the voters #2 to #9. Points could be 9/10 for voter #2, 8/10 for voter #3 and so on up until 1/10 for voter #9.
(Why not voter #1 and voter #10? I think the first voter should not get 10/10, as he is usually the original poster, who gets rewarded with a star anyway when the video hits the top list, and I think voter #10, who gets it out of queue is already covered by the Assisters badge.)
Points add up in the background over time and induce the early adopter badge at certain levels. If that level is set at reasonable intervals it would not lead to "ridiculous levels" either.

There's already the 'assister' badge, which I think is awarded if you promote and/or quality a video before it's sifted. I think that's good enough, and involves some effort and spending of powerpoints.

A badge for simply voting would see people end up with ridiculous levels of those badges. It's kinda rewarding people for doing the most basic thing on the site.

... saying that, anything to get people visiting the unsifted section more is a Good Thing™, I'm just not sure this is the solution.
