Let's Compare ( R-Type ) THE MEGA VIDEO
I first played on my church friend's Sega Master System. I didn't know an arcade game existed when I tried it in Sin City. This game was rad. I couldn't get far. IIRC, I got to the level after the green big ship.
The arcade version of this was one of the first arcade games that I could put a quarter in and play for more then an hour. I would always set the high score whenever I would find one.
Good stuff.

animation vs. arcade games
Try arcades!
I've gotten them into a few games that they've enjoyed.
The loved all the old Super Mario Bros games, Bubble Bobble, and several others, many which are on the NES Classic (and others on the SNES Classic).

Heavy Hailstorm Hits Texas
Or maybe they're kids and the arcade games are more exciting than nature to them under any circumstances?
Not everyone is watching the hailstorm. Maybe they're used to it?
NVIDIA Marbles RTX
I use to love playing Marble Madness at the arcade. So many quarters.
Mortal Kombat and the Cheat Code That Changed Gaming Codex
This is great timing for me, as I just watched the full series on Netflix of the anime Hi Score Girl. I highly recommend it. Very fun show all about growing up playing video games (arcade and console) in the early 90s with tons of actual gameplay footage.
Porsche shatters Nurburgring record
I've logged thousands of laps around Nurburgring in various PC racing simulators over the years, from rFactor to Assetto Corsa, and even if I turn on the arcade mode, I can't begin to touch this lap time. Amazing!!

Dashcam Video Of Alabama Cop Who Shot Man Holding His Wallet
also this guy is an idiot for getting out of his car in a traffic stop and actually pointing his black wallet at the cop and grabbing at it with his right hand unnecessarily. If you kinda squint it actually looks like he's trying to pull a gun and shoot. If this was one of those arcade games where you had to shoot the 'bad guys' and not shoot the innocent bystanders I would have totally lost a quarter there. (i realize that analogy dates me.)
Stranger Things | Season 2 "Thriller" Trailer
Someone did the right thing by prominently displaying the game Galaga in that arcade. *tips hat*
Coleco Mini-Arcade 1982 Handheld Games Commercial
I never knew there was a mini arcade of it. Nice! I liked the console and arcade ports.
I had Zaxxon - Played the crap out of that game!

My dad bought me the PacMan one at one point. I was pretty underwhelmed with arcade games back then, and had more fun with the home consoles.
