Leftfield - Release The Pressure

Farhad2000 says...

Someone please tell me why this pumping ass version never made it to the album? The album version is shit compared to this! This is my favourite Leftfield song

Leftfield were a duo of electronica artists and record producers, Paul Daley (formerly of A Man Called Adam and the Brand New Heavies) and Neil Barnes, formed in 1989 in London, England. The name Leftfield was originally used simply by Neil Barnes for the first single Not Forgotten but after this Paul Daley was involved firstly in remixing songs and then in the creation of following music[1]. The pair were pioneers in the fields of intelligent dance music and progressive house, being the first to fuse house music with dub and reggae [Release the Pressure (1995)]. They furthermore were among the first electronic musicians to incorporate live guest vocalists, along with The Chemical Brothers and Underworld. Ultimately the duo have been influential on the electronic genre as a whole, with The Crystal Method's Scott Kirkland referring to them in 2005 as "The best Electronic band period."

Their downtempo music style has inspired a genre which has been recognised as simply leftfield, with several charts appearing in magazines such as DJ magazine and Mixmag. The genre is also known as "Chillout".

Chemical Brothers Live - Hey Boy Hey Girl

fdisk says...

I already liked Chemical Brothers but I found this on Adelphia on demand a while back and it had just never occured to me that they would play live AND rock. It looks like a blast! Once the stock CB/HBHG video made it through the queue I knew I had to find and post this followup.

You know I'm probably going to upvote a video when I gasp moments after seeing it in the queue.

I swear, a Chemical Brothers video must be the easiest thing in the world to film - you set this music to just about any imagery and it'll come out looking cool. Or is that just the fanboy in me talking?

minor *pg for the bathroom bit around 2:20, and minor profanity and ongoing past 2:35, and for anybody with kids freaked out by skeletons - although the tag should provide adequate warning of that anyway.

Nice find fdisk, welcome to the Sift - hope this vid gets promoted.

DJ Fresh - Nervous

Just saw this http://www.videosift.com/story.php?id=24749 (chemical brothers out of control) in the queue and was slightly disappointed after seeing "amazing" in the title. It's a nice song but doesn't get me goin as much as this video!

DJ Fresh is a drum n bass producer. Drum n bass (a.k.a dnb) is a fast, broken-beat form of dance music (~170 bpms). It's hugely popular in the UK. I've been listening to it for years now.

I'll post some more dnb vids as well

Here are some dnb sites:

this comment is put here to remind everyone that michel gondry is the famous french director of music videos for bjork, daft punk, and the chemical brothers. he directed "eternal sunshine of the spotless mind", which is beautiful. he also directed "the science of sleep", which was released this year. i haven't seen it yet but really want to. his work is full of clever editing tricks and visual effects.
