Seattle officer punches girl in face during jaywalking stop
So?
Innocent until proven guilty. No double jeopardy.
And of course the police would give an account favorable to the cops.

"Police said Monday's incident began about 3:10 p.m. when the officer was driving north along Martin Luther King Jr. Way. The officer saw an 18-year-old man jaywalk across the busy street about 15 feet from a pedestrian overpass. After the officer stopped the man, he saw four women jaywalk at the same location and ordered them to come over to his patrol car, police reports say. At that point, the women became verbally antagonistic, and one turned and began walking away, police said.
When the officer approached her and began escorting her back to his car, the report says, she tensed and pulled away, ignoring his order to put her hands on the patrol car. By then, a crowd had gathered. Police said the officer then began trying to handcuff her."
Apparently breaking a law, then refusing police orders, and then pushing a police officer is somehow OK and according to Nordlich, the officer should've been beaten to shit by an angry mob.
Just, wow.
edit/update: Both of these "poor girls", Angel L. Rosenthal, and her friend, Marilyn Ellen Levias, have criminal records. Angel's is pretty hefty.

Sarah Palin Book Signing - Meet The Fans
For the record, by 4:30 (I had to stop there) I had counted 17 unique people interviewed. I would assume that by the end of the 8+ minute video there's somewhere between 23-30 people. Now granted he probably still choose the "winners", but that's not so much cherry picking as a cherry truck jack-knifing on the overpass.
And I can only imagine the switch in certain comments if this video was of a democrat this bright....
And FYI - America is NOT an exceptional country. You really are just another country.
-Any- group of people has the potential of consisting of ones who are a positive contribution to the world or negative. Assuming that a single group is great just because they have a good track record, or whatever allows the negative ones to slip into power given enough time. As a nation we can achieve greatness, but not by just saying we are.

American beer is like sex in a rowboat. They're both fucking close to water.
Come to San Diego and try the beers from any of our fantastic microbreweries, then say try saying that again.

I suspected this was a viral ad, setup by Bud. Otherwise called 'fake' by some people.
It is mostly the position of the debris field of cans and boxes that does it for me. Going way past the bridge.
But I just read a news article about it provided by the youtube link.

Plus it would be sort of stupid for a company that sells beer to try to associate themselves with terrible driving and reckless disregard for public safety.

It's more like having sex in a canoe, Bruce.
Never know when an American won't know what something is, Lawrence. Gotta keep it lowest-common-denominator.

Graffiti artist BUKET tagging overpass in broad daylight
>> ^alizarin:
Graffiti is awesome, you all are a bunch of old men shaking your fists at teenagers and complaining about your taxes.
Society's resources aren't free. The next time one of your loved ones dies of a curable disease, like cancer, remember that you advocate draining society's resources from science and funneling it into these attempts at illusory social prestige.

Cleanup costs in Los Angeles county for graffiti removal is apparently close to $30 million. Sorry, but in a bankrupt state, I'd rather pay the salaries for teachers than have to put up with this stupid bullshit. I have no problem with the art form when applied appropriately, but tagging is just fucking irritating. Upvote for the arrest.
It makes me wonder: what if they gave up on graffiti altogether? I think the problem is that we call it "clean up" when in reality what they are doing is wiping the canvas clean to give the next douchebag a nice new surface to paint on. I say fuck it, let them write over their shit over and over till it is just a gray blob of melted overrun paint.

Homeless "Cave" Uncovered In Los Angeles
>> ^peggedbea:
the homeless i have known and loved were either teenage runaways- victims of abuse and addiction
If you were homeless as a young adult, it is unsurprising that you would identify with, and hang out with people your age.
I'm sure you have days worth of interesting stories from when you were homeless, but you really don't fall into the group I was discussing (after all, presumably, with internet access, you aren't homeless anymore?)
The median age is somewhere around 40 years in most studies of the homeless. Thus, while certainly many teenagers run away due to abuse, they are probably not representative of the overall homeless population.
The mean time homeless, from one study in Chicago was just under 2 years, with the median at 8 months, and the mode at 2 months; which confirms what I am suggesting -- most people wouldn't relegate themselves to being homeless forever. The majority are only homeless for a few months or years before getting back on their feet.
Clearly, bad things can happen to anyone which can quickly result in homelessness; but thats not what I'm talking about -- I'm talking about people who upon becoming homelessness, take it as a career, people like those in this video who are making an overpass their home and living there for the foreseeable future.
Theres nothing wrong with being homeless during a tough period, but I would say there is something wrong with the mentality that homelessness (sleeping on a bench, begging for change) is "good enough" and accepting it as your way of life with no plan to leave it behind.
