I barely noticed a difference, so I agree the extra work and expense is largely wasted.

My eyes aren’t good enough anymore to justify even 4K, I’m still happy with my almost 10 year old 1080 plasma tv (although 4K would be nice for games).

Sorry if I’m being over sensitive….anything that seems to legitimize the bastardized definition of CRT, in my eyes, is buying into the intentional political ruse to paint any anti racism program, plan, or organization, even unpleasant history with the “CRT” label (and everyone knows CRT is the Devil), and I find that upsetting, even when it’s unintentional….maybe more so when it’s unintentional because that means the rebranding and improper conflation is working.

I think you know, CRT is an advanced law class taken by law students, not a racist movement to erase white people from history as the right claims, not a diabolical plan to make all white children self hating BLM activists, and it really irks me how successful the publicly admitted, intentional, blatantly racist scapegoating and misrepresentation has worked.

The republican party is too busy eating itself to pose any real threat. Beyond the massive schism between aging old school republicans and frothing at the mouth Q nutjobs that's splitting the party, the right is also hard at work killing it's voters by suggesting vaccines and masks are bad. I sympathize, I was stung on the eyebrow Saturday, and I'm allergic. My eye swole shut for days.

I have no problem with anyone cleaning up around here. I just think consideration for members recent comments should be respected by limiting the amount of dead video comments so as not to bury recent comments 15 pages back. Just seems disrespectful to other sifters. I think we could come up with a limit on how many dead videos can be deleted at one time per member. I just think smaller numbers over a longer period of time could be just as effective and less intrusive.

Again, this has nothing to do with the rules in my eyes and everything to do with consideration.

I remember the first time I saw the Ring Nebula through my Dobsonian and thought "man, that thing is really far away". Then I swung my scope to Cassiopeia's "W" and looked at the ghostly smudge of the Andromeda Galaxy. I tried to fathom the distance and came up lacking. My eyes were better then and I could see things in the mid-6s, but even with full night vision and using averted vision, I couldn't make out any detail; it was just a little wisp of light where the middle was a touch brighter than the edges.
That was the day I fully became an atheist. It made no sense that God would put a smudge of light 2.5 million light years away that was actually a trillion purposeless stars. I had no answer for that. Standing on that runway in the Sierra mountains, enveloped in blackness and looking at Andromeda, I felt a direct link between myself, time and the universe. I didn't need heaven anymore and I never felt the existential dread of death ever again. I understood that I was part of infinity and that was enough.
