New Poll Numbers Have Clinton Far Behind And Falling
I agree that 'writing off' a huge, near majority of the population is disastrous....but it's pretty damn close as it stands, with neither party doing much to improve things. It's already not a great time to be Mexican, black, or a woman in America today.
I, also, am at a loss on what to do. Southpark said, and I agreed, that 1/4 of Americans are mentally defective. I'm seeing now that that number is probably closer to 3/4, making meaningful, helpful change impossible. (Trump will be 'meaningful' change, but there's a >99% chance it won't be helpful to anyone not named Trump.)
A constitutional amendment declaring politics off limits for businesses and/or large groups, and making lobbying completely illegal, and funding elections rather than making them 'pay for play' would be a great start...but since the people who benefit from the current system are the same one's charged with making those changes, it's a non starter with no legal solution beyond voting every incumbent out of office...and that's not a good solution either.
Trump is likely not the answer if America is to continue as a united country.
It depends on the level of rot. If every load bearing beam in your home is infested with termites and rotten to the core....burning it down just might be the only way to save your neighbors homes, yours is already gone. We are at best on that knife edge where it's a toss up which is better, repair or replacement...but we aren't doing either, which is making the decision for us as the rot gets worse and less repairable. Perhaps a new structure is needed, one built to eliminate the rot from the get go. Of course....I see that leaves us all homeless in the interim, and many won't survive that, and in that circumstance it will be MUCH worse before it's better....most people advocating the dismantling of the government don't see that. I'm not advocating it, but I am considering it as a possibility.
That's the thing, I think they probably are.
I saw a quote the other day that said if Trump wins, "it won't be a great time to be mexican or black or a woman in America, but other than that things will be pretty much the same".
It's 2016. Writing off huge demographics like that shouldn't be an option.
@newtboy, I don't know what you do to affect change in the US. Your political system is awful, your voting system is borderline insane and your judicial apparatus is compounding the problem with some unbelievably short-sighted decision (i.e. Citizens United).
But I do know the answer isn't Trump.
If your house has rot, you don't burn it down. You have to do the hard work of finding the problem areas, scaffolding them to protect the rest of the house, ripping out the problems, replacing them and then insulating so you don't get the problem again.

But maybe the stakes aren't as high for everyone else.
Samantha Bee on Orlando - Again? Again.
I dunno. I feel it could go either way.
On one hand, the sharks would probably think it was kinda dumb.
On the other, they might be impressed with your cajones.
Either way, for some reason, I am picturing the sharks as mexican gangsters. My mind goes to weird places at times.....
and the sharks
Bernie Bros For Hillary
Yeah, fuck all those Muslims and Mexicans and women! It's only 4 years, right?
Trump may have his own issues, but at very least he won't make an already unfair system even worse, which would have a longer term impact on the democracy of this country.
Walls can be torn down, Muslim immigrants can start entering again after 4 years.
Hillary SuperPac runs first Anti-Trump ad in several states
That is factually incorrect.
There are 4051 pledged delegates available. So to win the pledged delegate count, you only need 2026. Hillary currently has 2203.
You need 2383 INCLUDING the superdelegates (Hillary has 2777).
On both counts, Hillary has won.
It's over. Bernie lost.
I don't like it either, but short of Hillary being unable to accept the nomination for some reason (dying, dropping out, being disqualified somehow), she is now the presumptive Democratic nominee. If Bernie is staying in the race, it's only to gain some leverage (maybe a VP ticket?)
That said, I agree that this is a pretty weak attack on Trump. Everyone already knows he's an asshole, and his supporters clearly give zero fucks about insulting people with disabilities. They probably think it's hilarious.
A candidate needs 2383 PLEDGED delegates to win the nomination. She has 2184. Because there seems to be some question among Clinton supporters, 2184 < 2383. She's 199 short. That doesn't mean Sanders has much chance, it means the claim that "she won the nomination" is a BOLD FACED LIE that apparently 90% of Americans are gullible and ignorant enough to buy. Don't be a sucker and fall for then repeat another lie. Wait for the convention before calling her the nominee. She didn't win yet.
Cholos Watch Speedy Gonzales
Maybe, but it certainly seems there are plenty of Mexican stereotypes that are reinforced by the cartoons!
I thought Speedy was being used to disprove the racial stereotype that all Mexicans are slow and lazy when I watched it. He IS Mexican, and he's not slow or lazy by far, nor is he dumb.

Megyn Kelley & Bill Bennett on Trump's Federal Judge Attacks
It's hilarious to me that Trump doesn't seem to realize that the entire basis of his complaint is that ALL Mexicans, Mexican Americans, and all those of Latin descent, just plain hate him....hate him enough to shirk their sworn duties and life's work and commit criminal fraud against him for personal reasons.
IF that were true, doesn't it mean that a HUGE and growing portion of the population will go so far as to commit felony fraud to trip him up constantly if he's president? Doesn't that mean he'd be stymied, so NOT be able to "get things done", which is his main selling point to those he's duped into supporting him?
Two Veterans Debate Trump and his beliefs. Wowser.
@bareboards2
I've been operational in a war-zone. Shot at twice, and in a Mexican standoff once, but I never fired my own weapon.
Fact is, other developed nations manage just fine (for the most part) when it comes to things like this. It doesn't help that the US has never and probably will never allow any member of the forces to be prosecuted internationally for war crimes.
I know someone who was in Italy many years ago when a US plane decided to buzz underneath the wires of a gondola (the mountain kind, not the Venice kind, obviously). The tail of the plane caught on the wire and 12 people died, including a few children. There was no criminal prosecution for the pilot, crew, or commanding officers. I mean, just look at all the Wikileaks files on war crimes committed by US soldiers, barely any of them received any kind of judicial review (if any at all did, I never heard of them) including indiscriminate killing of random civilians.
Like it or not, that's a part of the US military culture and they worked hard to make things that way. In Vietnam it was estimated that one in a million shots fired from small arms actually HIT an enemy combatant. They learned it was because fewer than one in ten soldiers even TRIED to hit.
On top of that, the pay is so terrible, it's mostly those desperate to lift themselves and their family out of abject poverty that apply for enlisted positions. They are not well-educated and they are certainly not (for the most part) intelligent, hard-working individuals. The US chooses to spend the vast bulk of military spending on technology, rather than people (after all, it's easier to give kickbacks to your political donors that way).
Well, this is the result. A military with no fear of repercussions unless you're one of the poor scapegoats at Abu Ghraib (and if you think they represent even one tenth of the total personnel involved, you're out to lunch) and you're dumb enough to take pictures of yourself, there's pretty much nothing you can do to the 'enemy' that will get you in serious trouble.
Why do you think the Brits insisted on their own zones of Iraq for the second gulf war? In the first one they fought alongside Americans and suffered more casualties from American fire than they did from Iraqi fire. I talked to a Brit armored officer who was in the first gulf war. He went to introduce himself to the colonel of the American unit next to them, the Colonel stared in amazement at the Scorpion light tank and said, "What the hell kind of Bradley is that?" I can guarantee you, every soldier, from Private to the Colonel of my regiment could have identified every armored vehicle on the battlefield.
Trump Transforms for the General Election: A Closer Look
The pivots strike me as ... weird. It's strange how someone can say something one day and people get behind him and believe that thing and then say the complete opposite the next day and people still get behind him and believe that new thing. Like... I'll never forget the Trump statement stating Mexicans are rapists or that he insulted a decorated war veteran who criticized him (McCain) by saying that he's a loser because he got captured. These things will forever cloud my perception of who this man is. But some don't seem to have that same 'type' of memory...
And now for his policies to shift so dramatically and for people to just continue to support him... It's... weird. Like there's this collective, willful amnesia he's tapped into and is taking advantage of.
Bill Maher: New Rule – There's No Shame in Punting
Pedophile Bill Clinton?! Based on what? Dead bodies?!
While you are completely making things up, Trump said publicly that most Mexicans coming over the border are drug dealers and rapists. I wonder when faced with a choice between them, which negatives will Latinos focus on. Or if you are a woman, will you focus on Bill Clinton's negatives or the actual GOP candidate saying only the woman should be punished for getting an abortion?
If you honestly believe the BS you are shoveling, prepare to be shocked when Trump gets crushed should he get nominated.
I think that if it did become down between Trump and Clinton Trump will bring up all the Clinton negatives over the last 25 years.
From the 47 suspicious dead bodies to drug running as Governor to pedophile Bill and all that entails.
The media will clearly cover for the left but Trump would be able to cut through it.
The media pokes fun at Democrats but demonizes Republicans.

Bill Maher: New Rule – There's No Shame in Punting
The GOP never to this point kowtowed to that part of the base anyway until they decided to attempt to harness the energy of that faction to the point that this faction has a stranglehold of the party, and yet are wholly ignorant on the issues. We're talking about people who hold up signs that read "Keep your government hands off my medicare" caliber people. Or people who think Obama isn't an American. Or people who think Obama is "a complete socialized take over of health care". Stuff like that which is so obviously untrue, it's laughable.
And I want to be clear. I'm not accusing the right of having a monopoly on stupid people in their base. There's PLENTY of stupid liberals. The difference is the Democratic party is doing a far better job of keeping their idiots supporting them without enacting what those idiots want or succumbing to their idiocy.
Here's proof - how many times do you see Democratic leaders constantly say crap like George W. Bush is a war criminal for Iraq? Name a Democratic presidential candidate who actually has said over and over again that Ted Cruz isn't a US citizen? Donald Trump, the current GOP frontrunner, over and over again insists Obama isn't a US citizen, as have many many Republican Congressmen.
When the GOP signed the deal with the devil so to speak by trying to co-opt the Tea Party movement, this was the inevitable outcome. The Tea Party has been hijacked twice by my count because the people within it are so incredibly ignorant, they don't seem to realize what they stand for. It was Libertarian in the beginning both socially and economically. Then it got hijacked to become more socially conservative and economically conservative. Now, it's been hijacked by Donald Trump, who nobody actually even knows what he is socially or economically at this point overall.
Why did this happen? Because GOP support is so contaminated and dominated by so much ignorance, you can have a TV personality say a bunch of stupid crap they want to hear but is certifiably absurd, that he can become the front runner. Building a wall to keep the Mexicans out, no matter how you feel about illegal immigration as far as ideals go, is simply not a practical solution to stop illegal immigration. You can't make Mexico pay for a wall even if you built it. Obama wasn't born in Kenya. Replacing Obamacare with something "terrific" is NOT a policy proposal; it's non-specific anti-Obama BS to make people who hate Obama love you. He could replace it with "Trumpcare" which could be basically Obamacare, and that could be "something terrific" for all you know.
Trump and Cruz don't exist without the Tea Party, and the Tea Party wouldn't be a thing if the GOP didn't decide to eventually attempt to galvanize it. Well, mission accomplished, but you're never going to get the support of the growing minority segments of the population. You've forfeited the support of moderates like myself, too. And young people by enlarge are rejecting this version of the GOP big time. Women are increasingly rejecting it, too.
Your second point... Umm, big fat no.
https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/the-fix/wp/2016/03/21/the-last-presidential-candidate-who-was-as-unpopular-as-donald-trump-david-duke/
The party has left its base. That is why Trump and Cruz exist.
I Think more people vote against Hillary then vote against Trump.
