Is The Global Temperature Record Credible?

newtboy says...

Lol...an old Glen Beck video he himself has admitted is nonsense. Great proof there Bob....I thought you said yesterday that CNN videos are all bullshit lies, today you link one that's been denounced by it's own creator as pseudoscientific propaganda as your good supporting proof?! You are just too funny, buddy.

Are you really just trying to prop up weak straw men for us to knock down? Because that's what you're doing, and it makes you look pretty dumb or dishonest, your choice.

And this one, some random internet dude actually claims there's no decent temperature data before 1950. Also, note the thumbnail graph has one line go to 1974 and the other 2018 on a graph that ends in 1970. That's all the brain numbing stupidity I'm willing to stomach for this latest dishonest industry attempt at spreading unscrupulous nonsense.
Would love to see the facts on their funding, but we won't because they hide their funding by funneling it through private third party donation companies so oil, gas, and coal money can be hidden and claimed as "small donations on this blog" but are actually well organized industry funding of industry shills.
Just asinine.

I spend a lot of time blabbing about it, if that's what you mean :-)

As for maintaining a healthful diet, once you know what to put in the shopping cart it takes no more devotion than eating any other diet

It's essentially this https://www.drcarney.com/images/easyblog_shared/b2ap3_large_PCRM-Power-Plate-Small.PNG

which is very similar to the government's recommendations - https://i.dietdoctor.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/06/myplate-467x425.jpg, minus the dairy. (Canada has recently dropped dairy from their government recommendations, so it's becoming a mainstream thing to accept that dairy is not required in the diet - and even the dairy industry themselves are starting to give up, no longer is their own biased research saying dairy is healthy, they've begun to settle with dairy is not harmful lol)

It is important to me, personally because my close relatives died from easily preventable diseases, and I myself suffered from nephrotic syndrome, which would have killed me. And I mean suffered, my wounds were opening up, I had ulcers appearing on my skin, my joints were swollen, and my muscle mass was wasting away because I was pee'ing out all my protein....... AND THEN I FIND OUT IT'S BASICALLY AN OPTIONAL ILLNESS - and my life is saved.

It absolutely pains me to see the western world with it's epidemic of obesity, diabetes, heart-disease, cancer, and less common diseases like multiple sclerosis and rheumatoid arthritis and so on, suffering unnecessarily like I did because they do not know the how easy it is to avoid, prevent, and often reverse these diseases. The vast majority of people could easily be healthy if they switched to a whole food plant-based diet. Not everyone, but most.

We're doing it to ourselves. We're giving ourselves these horrible diseases, and destroying the planet, and killing 80 billion land animals, and 2 trillion sea animals to make ourselves sick. To me it's pure insanity.

I get a sense you devote a lot of your time towards a healthful diet. Is that an interest or a need? Just curious. Not sure if its a passion or a need?

I'm sure an honest fellow like yourself, would also call out bias where ever you see it right? Like if the link you posted was from an organisation posing to be a non-profit diet advisory, but was really just a front created by meat and dairy industries to help sell more of their products. You would call that out too right?

here's more detailed information about industry in California specifically, looks like it's been growing steady for a while.

Also, note the sharp uptick in government spending starting ~2014 -current numbers late 2018

That spending doesn't account for all of the growth, but there's a parallel growth happening in the "All industry total" category, defined as - "The All industry total includes all Private industries and Government."

Kids Cover Puppy in Glue For Fun - And An Amazing Transforma

Esoog says...

From the YT Description:
Pascal, a stray puppy from Turkey, was at the wrong place at the wrong time, when two twisted children started torturing the helpless dog.

He was only four months old when a rescue team found him in an industrial building and brought Pascal to He’Art of Rescue organization in Istanbul, Turkey. The kids did a lot of terrible things to the poor dog, and even covered the fellow in industrial glue.

The glue acted like cement and Pascal was so stiff he could basically move only his tongue. The staff at the facility shaved off the glue, along with twigs and mud that was stuck to Pascals fur. His skin was raw, pulsing with red wounds. It suffered significant damage from the chemicals, so the pup had to undergo a series of medical baths to recover.

Sexual Assault of Men Played for Laughs

JiggaJonson says...

@bcglorf

Use is not evidence of efficacy. Ask the homeopathic medicine industry about that.

I'd like to see some solid evidence of torture producing the results you'd want to see. A closely guarded secret revealed only after X amount of hours on the rack or under the water board.

From what I've read, universally, people who are tortured see their torturers in a rapidly increasing negative light. What could your worst enemy do to get you to betray a good friend? What if you began to harbor feelings that were even more I tense hatred for your worst enemy and they wanted you to betray your best friend? Would you be more likely to work with them then ?

I think the premise itself is flawed when it comes to torture, and more importantly the evidence is on my side.

Four producers remix the same jazz piano sample

Sagemind says...

So here's my opinion.
I hate this.

Why you ask?
Because, while each producer has become the artist, none of them respect the music. I understand this is the assignment. But it's wholly representative of what's wrong with the music industry today.

Don't miss-understand me, I respect the artistry of the process they go through. They have all created a new personal piece. Respect for that part.

BUT, Music is more than re-sampling. The ORIGINAL artist matters. When I listen to music, I want to hear the artist who created the piece. I want to experience the sound of someone playing actual instruments. There is no replacement for the talent of a musician.

I would accept this IF the producer, actually crated their own samples first. This in affect is like a do-it-yourself paint-by-numbers kit.

I love the sounds, but I never want to hear music where it's so overly-produced that it erases or lays claim to a sound above the original musician's piece.

Where have all the musician's gone? - They all went digital! and the music died.

To be fair, aerial shots used to be done in planes and helicopters. With all the exhaust or downdraft and much MUCH louder noise.

Now a giant wasp spooks them for a couple minutes. The drone used here is one of the small ones. Probably no more than 6-8 inches across. The big 6 and 8 fan monstrosities are being used for heavy loads more and more. More commercial/industrial than video.

Can Alcohol Cause Cancer?

transmorpher says...

Video Title: Slurring guy on the internet defends alcohol consumption, jesus wept lol.

And let's talk about bias for a minute. Nobody is drinking alcohol for the protective effects for the 3 cancers it apparently protects against.Aaron is clearly trying to make himself feel better about his bad habits.

Moderate alcohol is not protective against 3 types of cancers, it's merely associated with it, because people who drink moderately are in a certain demographic, age, class, social/economical, education etc. and the studies that are shown in the nutritionfacts.org video control for these kinds of things.

I'm not sure if you watched the video , but they show research which says that the alcohol industry use the same tactics as big tobacco do (that Aaron is perpetuating) to keep the public confused.

The tactic Aaron is using, is cherry picking a weak study, debunking their shitty method, and then using it to dismiss all other credible evidence. It's effectively a strawman, because he did nothing to address the hundreds of studies with strong evidence.

Can Alcohol Cause Cancer?

transmorpher says...

And what exactly does veganism have to do with alcohol consumption? The vast majority of alcohol is vegan friendly.

Vegans have nothing to gain from decreased alcohol consumption.

----
Also Dr.Greger makes no claims. He simply reads out the research from a world wide scope of researchers, none of which are vegan.

And cherry picking what exactly? He's presented literally 10s of thousands of research papers all from unrelated researchers. And it's not like he's picking out some fringe groups, he's quoting the biggest health organisations in the world.

While it's easy to call him a cherry picker, I challenge anyone to find any credible evidence of cherry picking. I'm yet to hear back from someone over the last 6 years.

And I also challenge you to find an article that isn't funded or tied to the egg/milk/beef/fish industry which claims that eating x animal product is healthy.

Even easier, find an industry funded study which shows the detrimental effects of their own product. You won't, because they are inherently biased - an industry would never publish something that would hurt their bottom line. And no he doesn't ignore or cherry pick around industry funded studies, he exposes their tricks and data manipulation as well. That's not cherry picking, that's proper analysis.

And actually thanks to the freedom of information act, we can see how many studies they hide from us (when they don't like the results), and only publish the ones that suit their revenue centered agenda.

And this is why he's labelled a cherry picker - revenue loss. Broccoli ain't making anyone rich.

Let me put it into perspective:

He did a few video on how those WIFI sensitivity diseases are fake, and the comments are insane - because it's hurting people's income. And this is a pretty niche market, so you can imagine what a billion dollar industry would attempt to do to discredit him. Of course, they never address the research, just him.

drradon said:

From Media Bias website: " Science Based Medicine debunks one by one, many of Dr. Gregers claims. They also claim that NutritionFacts cherry picks information that will always favor veganism. NutritionFacts.org does provide some valuable information and certainly a diet high in fruits and vegetables is preferred, but Dr. Gregers claims are extreme."

Vegan Diet or Mediterranean Diet: Which Is Healthier?

transmorpher says...

Not so much non-vegans, but companies that sell non vegan products are viewing it as a loss of revenue. Even a 7% drop in sales is a lot of money on a country sized scale. They're constantly putting industry sponsored spokes people on talk TV to tell you that being vegan will make your dick fly off like gluten :-)

Particularly primary agriculture industries. Companies further up the consumer chain just end up selling a vegan line of their product, so they aren't so worried about it - which is also why I'm more inclined to believe that the figure is closer to 7%, as I'm seeing even mainstream companies sell non-dairy variants of their flagship ice cream, and large pizza chains with vegan pizzas on their menus. I'd imagine it wouldn't be worth their while unless they had some good numbers to go by, and would otherwise leave it to niche companies.

But it could also just be that they've discovered that vegans will basically do their brand promotions for free over social media, and could just be exploiting that. (Every time a company releases a vegan version of X, a Facebook storm ensues, and companies like free advertising)

newtboy said:

Lol. Good point.....dirty hippies. ;-)

Um....what? Vegans should want to avoid them almost as much as the hunter's helper and slaughterhouse sucker brand lozenges, not flock to the brand marketed at meat harvesters.

Um...really? You think non vegans fear a vegan culinary takeover or something enough to falsify studies/polls? That's hilarious.

As to the 7% number, even vegan organizations in Britain disagree, as does Wiki....
According to a 2018 survey by Comparethemarket.com, the number of people who identify as vegans in the United Kingdom has risen to over 3.5 million, which is approximately seven percent of the population, and environmental concerns were a major factor in this development.[140] However, doubt was cast on this inflated figure by the UK-based Vegan Society, who perform their own regular survey: the Vegan Society themselves found in 2018 that there were 600,000 vegans in Great Britain (1.16%), which is a dramatic increase on previous figures.[141][142]
United States: Estimates of vegans in the U.S. vary from 2% (Gallup, 2012)[143] to 0.5% (Faunalytics, 2014). According to the latter, 70% of those who adopted a vegan diet abandoned it.

Vegan Diet or Mediterranean Diet: Which Is Healthier?

newtboy says...

No sir....we KNOW vegans are lying.
What I can't understand is why.
There's plenty of evidence that plant based (not vegetarian or vegan) diets are the healthiest choice.
There's plenty of evidence that vegan diets are almost always lacking in nutrition....they can be healthy but it's a full time and expensive proposition.
You are wrong, studies on cultures that eat large amounts of fish show it's good, and most weren't funded by the fishing industries. The Massai are pretty healthy too, and they eat and drink beef, blood, and milk almost exclusively. They have been studied extensively. You seem to always feel compelled to exaggerate enough to be wrong.

transmorpher said:

You guys think that vegans are lying?

Every single study that shows animal products are good, or neutral are funded by the people that sell them.

It's a shame you do not scrutinize the sellers of these products, as much as you do with vegans who simple want to make the world a more hospitable place for you, and all of the inhabitants.

(There are also plenty of doctors who aren't vegans (like John McDougall, Caldwell Esselstyn, Dean Ornish) who all make very strong points about avoiding animal products.)

Vegan Diet or Mediterranean Diet: Which Is Healthier?

You guys think that vegans are lying?

It's a shame you do not scrutinize the sellers of these products, as much as you do with vegans - Where is the *they lied to us* comments from the meat eaters about this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=83q9oamxmvQ

Clearly blatant number fudging, but people are happy to overlook it because vegans are the annoying ones right?

Every single study that shows animal products are good, or neutral are funded by the people that sell them. I CHALLENGE ANYONE TO FIND A STUDY THAT SHOWS ADDING ANY ANIMAL PRODUCT TO A DIET MAKES IT HEALTHIER - WHICH ISN'T TIED/LINKED TO THE INDUSTRY. In 5 years I'm yet to find one, and almost all of them have very audacious number fudging and statistic manipulation like the above egg study.

Now compare that to the 400 studies that came out last year showing meat has detrimental effects for us...... not coming from vegans. (and this happens each and every year, since 1970).

(There are also plenty of doctors who aren't vegans (like John McDougall, Caldwell Esselstyn, Dean Ornish) who all make very strong points about avoiding animal products.) These guys still eat meat on special occasions, so clearly not vegan.
