California was just fine until deregulation and privatization in 96.

Since then, it’s gone to shit, culminating in almost zero maintenance that caused billions in wildfire damages, more outages, and much higher prices. We even had Enron here, they deliberately shut down plants at peak demand time to artificially raise prices repeatedly.

Technically no, it's not about ballast tanks, but in a larger sense it's about stopping the spread of the carp. I'm just pointing out that no matter how well they block the river, there are other ways the fish can enter the lakes.
Also, as the video indicated, the methods have already failed since they've found the fish in the river past all the barricades.
I wonder what they've done to stop flooding from bypassing the barricades altogether.

I've been interested in this issue for decades, ever since the earlier videos of jumping fish smacking boaters started showing up. These days they allow electric fishing and other ecologically unfriendly methods in a last ditch effort to slow the spread, and none of it's working. If only someone would open a fish emulsion factory and make catching them an economically viable industry, maybe progress would be made....or not.

GM will only be selling electric vehicles by 2035, and they'll be selling dozens of EV models in the next 5 years.

know electric trollies were also a thing, but they were sabotaged by gasoline concerns (killed) because read the history of the one that use to run in our small mid-western town.

anyway...electric vehicles were viable then and if other concerns (like GMC) were kept at bay...100 years later we just might be driving all-electric vehicles (maybe flying them - we were supposed to have those by now).

necessity being the mother of invention, it only makes sense to keep the future (electric cars, solar-power, etc) alive. if the nation doesn't, china (or other visionaries) may capture the solar-driven land speeder market.

Good presentation of the big problem with wind and solar for electricity -- they're not predictable over time. For anything close to 100% renewables this has to be addressed. They're right in saying Li-ion is not going to cut it for a number of reasons. Will the solution proposed actually do the job? No idea here.
