Bernie Sanders: I thought this question might come up
Trump and his cultists are the most active terrorist group in America for the last 3 years. They are all extremists and have proven how dangerous they are through multiple deadly attacks and constant death threats to anyone who doesn't agree with them.
Before you proudly state "but Bernie said something positive about Castro, that's anti American." remember how Trump gushes about lil' Kim, president Xi, and Putin, proclaiming his deep love and admiration for multiple murderous communist dictators while showing outright disdain for most of our democratic allies.
Not one Democratic candidate has secretly sold out our national interests or our allies for personal gain, no, not even Biden. Trump has, repeatedly.
Trump, and all his cultists are anti America every time America's interests don't align with theirs.
Funny, when the right spends public funds on their projects like useless fencing, free bailouts for the banks their lack of regulation let fail, or farmers Trump's idiotic trade war hurt you think they're just giving money back, but when democrats want to invest far less than that amount into education they're Santa Clause. *facepalm
Trump is not extreme nor dangerous , Bernie is. Every Democrat candidate is anti America.
Bernie is just a Santa Clause.
Bernie Sanders: I thought this question might come up
I like Bernie, but his answer to "how do we pay for your plans?" seems to always be "We tax the rich more." That seems naive imo.
I agree, the extremely rich should pay way more, but I don't think it's reasonable to say that higher tax rates for the top 5% can pay to revamp our entire society. We are too deep in debt, and too shallow in our commitments towards the public, whether those commitments come in the form of investments in education, health, infrastructure, the legal system, prison reforms, ecology, climate change, .....the list of things we put on the back burner and ignore is long and fraught with perils far more pressing than, let's say a fence, or golf outings, trade wars, or another aircraft carrier.
As to the Castro ridiculousness, get a grip people. I can give you an example of something Hitler did that everyone, including holocaust survivors, can agree was a great thing he did.....he killed Hitler. If your ideological blinders and hatred are so thick you can't admit bad people/systems might also do some good things sometimes, you have a serious problem accepting reality and you need therapy.

John Green Debunks the Six Reasons You Might Not Vote
Again democracy cant decide the death penalty, abortions, taxes, religion, defense spending and all the other puny details. Democracy can choose leaders, agendas and assign responsibility.
Noocracy is just a new name for despotism, you let inteligent people have their way, the first thing they do is take care of themselves. Stupid people must have a fair representation. Experiments are being conducted to just let them think they have a fair representation, but I am afraid they may not be that stupid. I mean I hope they (we) are not.
Democracy is fairly simple and straightforward - either there is a way to change the ruler or there is not. Putin cant lose. Erdogan cant lose. Chinese communist party cant lose. Castro cant lose. Not democracy. Obviously the details of implementation are very nuanced, like if there are only two parties is that democracy? Etc.
Basically if the ruler makes it impossible for himself to be deposed peacefully democracy ends.
So let us assume some artificial system to pick perfect leaders could be devised. They would have no responsibility (after all they are the best possible leader) no compassion (everyone else is stupid) and no motivation (Im no. 1 so why try harder). Add a secret police and Stalinist Russia is born.
The ignorant herd is painfully hit and miss, but so is the stock market. This is still preferable to any dictator, even a clever one.
Bernie's New Ad. This is powerful stuff for the Heartland
He honeymooned in Russia.
Bernie Sanders is a Communist Sympathizer.
Bernie Sanders is the first Democrat who is honest about being a socialist. After all, with their policies demanding more and more government intrusion into our business and personal lives, they could only hide the truth of what they actually believe for that much longer. However, since socialism has failed everywhere it’s been tried, Bernie even admitted that the word socialism has become somewhat of a hindrance. Of course, you could point out all the despotic Socialist regimes, and you’d be making a good point. However, Bernie would still disagree with you! Not because he doesn’t think the mass murder and famine were a bad thing, but a good one. That’s right. An interview with Bernie emerged where he praised Fidel Castro’s regime. If you think his rape fantasy essay was shocking, or his folk album was hard to stomach, just wait until you hear his opinion on Communist Dictators A lot of people don’t know this, but Bernie actually hung a Soviet Flag in office when he was mayor of Burlington. According to reporter Trevor Louden, Bernie hung the Soviet flag in his office to honor the Soviet sister city of Yaroslavl. You know, singing praises to the opposing side while you’re at war might seem treasonous to some, but if you’re a mayor of a major city, it’s perfectly acceptable and everyone will forget about it. No need to mention that the USSR was responsible for what some believe to be the biggest genocide in history. You’d be crazy to call Bernie a Communist. He only proudly hung their flag in his office.
Bernie Sanders did not only vacation in the Soviet Union, he honeymooned there. He described it as “strange honeymoon”. Once again, Sanders used the excuse that he did so in his town’s sister city of Yaroslavl. You have to wonder how much bad the Soviet Union could have done that Sanders was willing to overlook . Perhaps if Bernie loves Yaroslavl so much, he could do everyone a favor and move there.

Cuba's DIY Inventions from 30 Years of Isolation
That was absolutely fascinating -- great sift!
A few random thoughts:
-If any video has ever better demonstrated the idiom "necessity is the mother of invention", I don't know what it is.
-Castro was very very clever to anticipate the technological needs of his people and have the army print that "field guide" book that spurred on greater independent development.
-Some of the things they came up with remind me of working on my family farm. Every day is an exercise in problem solving -- how to solve problem A given a set of tools/resources B. And often the things in B don't really lend themselves towards A... So you end up hammering in a nail with a brick, or patching a friction hole in a metal pipe with a few layers of plastic from a 2 liter bottle and duct tape.
-That artist Oroza is a great combination of artist, historian, archeologist, and storyteller.
-We (the US) still have sanctions against Cuba, but I can't really say why that is warranted...
Castro for Stroh's Beer

The Space Lady ~ Major Tom
Some of the best music I've ever heard came form the street performers in SF-Two in particular stand out: One guy on Haight St. played acoustic guitar and all of his arrangements he had learned by ear by spinning 78rpm rarities in his personal collection. His technique was reminiscent of each of the artists (all from the 20s-30s) he appreciated. Carl Kress, Dick McDonough, and Django Reinhardt . Guy was genius.
Another lady in her late 50s would camp out in front of the Castro theater and play musical saws. She was a hit with the gay boys and gals in the Castro, always had a fat saw-case fulla semolians.
One cat, in a wheelchair, played this modified electric slide guitar he had made himself, with the amp and battery supply all included in his wheelchair. His groove sounded like an amalgam of many great rock guitarists from the 60s, Hendrix, Beck, Page....that guys groove was SICK! Always tossed him those dillies on his watch.
Oliver Stone on NSA Spying
Stone lost his moral high ground and reputability around the time he started making fawning movies about Castro and Chavez.
Bill Burr: Gay Dudes Kissing
If ya wanna break the cycle Eric, you can always spend a weekend at ground zero in the Castro in San Fran-during the pride parade....OOOooops-43rd annual San Francisco Pride Celebration & Parade June 29-30 2013, you just missed your chance to get all man-kissy.
I've always had this type of reaction when any two people are making out in public, straight or gay, but when it's two men I tend to feel guilty for having the reaction. What gives? Must be some kind of straight guilt.

If "Heterophobia" Were Real
Hetero-phobia IS real. Head down to the Castro next time you visit San Fran....
Margaret Thatcher - (1925 - 2013)
Mandela was a terrorist in his younger days. . Although initially committed to non-violent protest, in association with the South African Communist Party he co-founded the militant Umkhonto we Sizwe (MK) in 1961, leading a bombing campaign against government targets
Anyway, what gets most people is that you never say anything so negative about real shitbirds like Arafat, Ahmadinejad, Stalin, Castro, Che, etc. All of your invective is aimed at people who would do you no harm.
Actual Gun/Violent Crime Statistics - (U.S.A. vs U.K.)
Some of you probably know I'm a few shades pinker than Castro. Yet I'm disappointed by the left on this matter. I first got nervous when the gun control debate began following the Javon Belcher (KC chief player) incident. It seemed ridiculous to me because obviously no form of reasonable gun control could have stopped an incident like that. It was a linebacker murdering his slight girlfriend and then committing suicide. He didn't need a gun. Still the media began the debate as though they were clearly itching too. That was quickly overshadowed by the Sandy Hook tragedy which was a much more effective rallying cause. Obviously it's natural for the debate to be rekindled after that sort of an incident, but I was disappointed by how disingenuous and emotionally driven it seemed. I couldn't help but think about the availability heuristic ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Availability_heuristic ) and how obviously it was coming into play. I thought the left would be better than this. We're supposed to be known for our rejection of knee-jerk responses preferring instead data driven policy. I was reminded of the Republican line-toeing following 9/11. It honestly sickened me.
The fact is every stat I've seen supports this guy's claim (and I spent many hours doing my own research, not just quoting links I found on huffpo or whatever). There is effectively no data that supports the sort of legislation being put forth and virtually no reason to fear that your children are at risk. Basically every case made against assault rifles can be made with much more conviction about alcohol. They are things that a subset of people enjoy, yet occasionally cause harm to people that don't. Alcohol much more so (by a huge factor, something like hundreds depending on how you measure it) than assault rifles. This incident is being used in keeping with Naomi Klein's Shock Doctrine. Don't get duped just because they are playing to your fears instead of redneck fears.
Also, it isn't racist to suggest that a large portion of the US murder rate is urban gang and drug related. That's a fact. That someone would even suggest that it is racist further sickens me. You all seem more interested in political correctness than data. Put on your skeptics hat folks. Question what you believe for once.
