QI - Learning For The Sake Of Learning

I think what yogi is trying to say is that he is an idiot and he shouldn't feel pressured into not being one.

I think that's a little harsh. The way I look at it is that when you're still in school it's your job: you should do it as best you can or leave and work in burger king instead. He's just saying academia isn't his cup of tea and I'm left to wonder why he's even in college if he cares about it that little? It's possible to make your way in the world with a college education.
P.S. Yogi: If you don't think you can make in the real world yet, maybe learning in college might bring you to that point.

Hopefully he doesn't mind wielding a shovel instead of a pen. And there are ways to make it in this world without college...but there's never a way to make it without taking every opportunity you can to learn something.

ACORN Natl Spokesman Gets Kicked Off The Set By Glenn Beck

brain says...

On the previous post, I commented on how stupid the parallel was to bathing in the Burger King kitchen sink. A better parallel would be Burger King employees pocketing money from the register. I'm sure it's happening with more than 20 out of 13,000 employees.

A much better parallel than bathing in the sink would be: Burger King employees who pocket money from the drive-thru. I'm sure Burger King has greater than 20 per 13,000 employees.

Also, Glenn Beck is insane.

Ahhh.... Dijon mustard? Fancy? Really? He asked for spicy mustard or dijon? If it is a burger place I am sure they have both.

And not to nit pick... but Burger King has spicy mustard. You can get it for your chicken nuggets.

Just working like a fucking dog these days. I try to spend as much as my time after work with my son, so that doesn't leave a whole lot of time for ol' Siftie. Or sucking dicks.

In reply to this comment by rottenseed:
I'm sure you can just remember your pay periods at the Burger King. Plus, if your boss wants you to suck his dick, you should do it out of respect and love for the sport.

I miss you, where have you been trolling around at?

In reply to this comment by kronosposeidon:
A tracking mechanism. Yeah, that makes perfect sense. Next time my boss gives me my paycheck I'll suck his dick, just to help me remember if it's a new one or an old one. Paycheck, that is.

In reply to this comment by rottenseed:
I get so many messages about my upvoted comments I need to keep track to see if its a new one or an old one. It's merely a tracking mechanism. Don't get too excited...

WTF, you upvote Siftbot's comments when he gives you a Scooby snack? What a loser.

The Worst Media Moments in Obama's First 100 Days

enoch says...

/blood pumping...
/chest pounding...
/feels like head is going to explode......
/cant take teh stupit much more....gonna...have..a...coronary..
but then i remember to take a breath, and remember that the hosts of these shows are just paid tools of the NUMBER ONE lobbyist in america!
that,s right kids!..the media!
these political whores have been bought and paid for by the very same people that brought you:
'WMD'S and the "war" on TERROR"
"illegal TORTURE *cough* interrogation procedures"
"sorry about your 401K,i hear burger king is hiring"
"KATRINA:where did grandma's house go"
"we thought he had a gun,so we shot him 17 times..oops..our bad"
"the "free speech" zone is 5 miles THAT way"
"MISSION ACCOMPLISHED..well,sort of..we did get the oil right for chevron and BP though"
"TEABAGGING..wait..what does that mean again?"
and so many more wonderful hits for the whole family to enjoy!

in all seriousness, why would anybody believe an institution that has failed us all on so many levels?
the very institution that relies on the political machine for,not only its money, but access?
would it not be prudent to surmise that the fourth estate, who's job it is to watch the powerful, and keep a free-flow of information, but now is so entrenched in political lobbying(3 times that of big oil)is playing for the other team?.that maybe they no longer for the common man,but those who pass the very laws that benefit big media?
that maybe people like glenn back, sean hannity and rush limbaugh are just doing their jobs?
jobs they were paid to do?...which is simply pure obfuscation.
they dont actually have to win an argument, just muddy the waters enough to make people go.."well..maybe".
sorry for being so wordy, its the preacher in me,but these tools make me ill.
thanks for listening kids..till next time.

Who's Keeping Burger King Workers Below the Poverty Line?

rottenseed says...

>> ^rougy:

Don't work at burger king??

I think that's missing the point, because BK is just one of hundreds of big businesses that operate under the same system, i.e. screw your labor force every chance you get because there's nothing they can do about it anyway.
If labor was unionized, however, then they'd have a chance to push back.

pffffft...labor unions for unskilled labor? That's effing retarded HAHAHA! Labor unions only work if the members have a knowledge or skill that can't be replaced by somebody right off the streets. BK, anybody can do it...

rottenseed says...

I don't get it. If the burger kings are franchises, how come the main corporation is being blamed for violations against labor laws? I mean, financially, I understand the burden that they must hold, but it's not up to Goldman Sachs to make Joe Schmo work an extra hour for no additional pay, that's up to the manager and ultimately, the franchise owner.

Furthermore, I don't understand what they're saying about a worker working longer than their shift being automatically owed time and a half. That is only applicable if the employee works more than 8 hours that shift/day or if they work more than 40 hours that week. I doubt many employees are getting those hours.

Sorry if it seems like I "missed the point" but I thought I'd just pose the thought...
