but dont get me wrong. i have my guilty pleasures (also, i dont usually use HMTL coding, so im sorry if its broken links)

I'd have to go with Adagio for Strings by Barber. But it isn't really sad per se, more of a "I've got something in my eye" kind of song. It's possible it's actually just a very beautiful song, but that Platoon was such a tremendously depressing movie and because they always play it at funerals, now its sad.

These are very narrow minded comments for such a thoughtful piece. I sense there are deeper subconscious reasons why this video offends you; reasons that you perhaps do not feel comfortable sharing in front of a largely atheist crowd, hence the use of shallow nitpicks. If you have something more substantial to say, I respectfully encourage you to say it.


How is it narrow minded to feel that the "emotional" background music doesn't fit into the video of him explaining how he had fun at christian boyscouts as a child while believing in God? It's a (not so) subtle attempt to add negativity to his narrative. That's the real cheap shot. I wouldn't have downvoted it if it wasn't for that. What's the next video going to be? Is he going to explain how he loved Christmas and believed in Santa, set to the sound of Adagio For Strings?

There's no "deeper subconscious reason" and I'm not religious at all. Also I don't get your large crowd reference (there's no crowd forming outside my house, atheist or other).

Atheist or Christian, it doesn't really matter. You can lead a good life either way, what's the big deal? And why, oh why are you so butthurt that some people don't like your video?

I remember asking about the music on their forums back in the day...before the game came out. I asked if it was a redone version of Adagio for Strings and they replied with a bunch of cool behind the scenes type info about doing the recording. Their choral version is awesome and it really set the tone for the sadness of the story. This was one of those games where the plot really added to the tension of the game...at least for me.

Seriously - I like the William Orbit "song" but Agnus Dei is an awesome piece as is Adagio for Strings. I must have about 10 different recordings of this wonderful creation.

Whoa, whoa, whoa. No discussion of "reinterpretations" of the Adagio for Strings is complete without remembering Barber's choral arrangement of it as an Agnus Dei. I think it's much better than the strings version.
