Ralph Nader: Accused of Ruining the Gore Elect
He's saved thousands, if not hundreds of thousands, of lives, by forcing every car manufacturer to install safety belts and stronger windshields in every car made since 1966.
The man is nothing less than a saint. We are a nation of fools to not give this man the respect he is due.
World's Bravest Bird
I am right now reading a book called "That Quail, Robert" (published in 1966) about a couple who find a quail egg that hatches and they adopt the bird which becomes, in essence, their child. Several scenes in the book are similar to this video, with the bird annoying a cat or dog and the animals, allowing it.
It's a great short read.
Operation Baja Blast - "Borrowing" Soda from Taco Bell
Behold: our next next president.
And the music is great, like it belongs in a Fellini film.
For disturbing try the 1966 "They're coming to take me away "

WHY ARE WE STILL IN IRAQ?!!! Dennis Kucinich
The Alan Greenspan of 1966 supported the use of the gold standard. But this was before monetarism became standard among economists. The modern Alan Greenspan supported fiat money.
The Federal Reserve helped cause the Great Depression, but that wasn't because of the gold standard. If we had had fiat money back then, the result would have been similar. When the money supply needed to be expanded, the Federal Reserve tightened it, an incredibly stupid move. Although if the U.S had been on fiat money, the FED would have had more freedom to increase liquidity in the markets.
SR-71 Blackbird extremely low fly-by (20 sec)
The Blackbird is a fascinating aircraft. It appears to be a complete failure when you look at its design goal vs the final product. It was designed to be highly stealth and have a minimal radar cross signature. In reality it has one of the largest signatures and can be detected at several hundred miles away. As honkeytonk says, the fuselage panels fit loosely until warmed up from friction by flying at high speed. The bird would take off and circle around at high speed, dumping fuel all the while, and then be refueled in the air once the panels had expanded.
Despite this, it was still an amazingly successful aircraft with an almost unheard of 33 years service (1966-1999). As their stealth design proved to be largely ineffective, they were fired upon frequently, but not one was ever shot down. Standard missile evasion was to crank the throttle up to top speed; the missile would either be unable to keep up or run out of fuel before it did.

Thought you might want some cheese history
Easy Cheese was originally marketed by Nabisco in 1966 under the name Snack Mate. After the merger of Kraft and Nabisco in 1988, the product was renamed Easy Cheese. It is sold in the United States, where it is usually served on crackers. Ritz Crackers in particular, another Kraft Foods product, are heavily cross-promoted with Easy Cheese. However, the Nabisco brand remained until 2001.
It is available in several flavors, including American cheese, mild and sharp cheddar, Swiss, nacho, and bacon & cheddar. The bacon & cheddar flavor used to contain tiny chunks of bacon, which easily clogged the can's nozzle. Kraft Foods has since reworked the recipe to omit the bacon particles in favor of bacon flavoring. In 2007, Kraft began producing a cream cheese variety of Easy Cheese.

You're a Mean One, Mr. Grinch...
A pure classic... however, I would think that this would be *Vintage for the movie was done in 1966... If you think that it shouldn't be vintage, I hope you can remove it, though I would also think that siftbot won't let me do it...
hardcore barefoot skate punks from 1965
Cool sift! Thanks for that!
The imdb entry for "Skaterdater" sais it was even nominated for an Oscar in 1966 (Best Short Subject, Live Action Subjects)
Soundtrack was done by Davie Allen and the Arrows.
I love how they focussed on what I imagine were hardcore tricks back then:
Hopping off a curb and turning yourself around on the board like you would on a surf longboard...:)
