SiftBot Rendezvous in New Orleans
The other day I was in the French Quarter finishing up my Christmas shopping when I spotted SiftBot with some friends at Café due Monde. They were listening to the Holy Cross band play Christmas carols. Here you see them enjoying their beignets loaded with powdered sugar.
And guess who else stopped by, pigeon!

Ha. Sifty gets around - and the ladies can't take their eyes off him - of course.
Sifty - the smooth operator!
mmm... beignets!
*Quality! ...if I could.
Somehow I always though Pigeon was a little taller in real life.

Haha. Great!
That's pretty neat. I've bought Cafe Du Monde coffee on a few occasions to make Vietnamese coffee (Cà phê sữa đá), which of course originated with the French.
Even weirder, I've bought Cà phê sữa đá on occasion to make Cafe Du Monde. What a crazy mixed up world!
I have spent several afternoons at Cafe du Monde enjoying the chicory coffee and beignets. Thanks for bringing back the memories.
/runs off to wiki for verification, presuming "beignets" is the other French word for "donuts"...
Here's an explanation of the origin of beignets from the Cafe du Monde site:

And some other locations besides the original one:

Out in Metairie there is another place called Morning Call that has its own history including beignets:
