New Orleans Film Festival
Last night was the kick off for the New Orleans Film Festival. It runs October 10th – 16th. I attended two film showings at one of the three locations being used for the festival. Now I’m mapping out what I’ll see during the next few days. Yes, that may mean some hopscotching between locations. So far I’ve purchased two 6 film passes – saving a little on admissions prices. As you can see I’ve been by the film postcard table.

What have you seen so far? Anything good?
I hear they're showing 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea and Waterworld. What? Too soon?
These are the films I've seen thus far:
• "Happy-Go-Lucky"
• "Nerdcore for Life"
• "Happiness Is"
• "How to Be"
• "In Search of a Midnight Kiss"
None of the films disappointed me. The festival is spread across three locations that are not close to one another. Some films run late. Some films have a director for a Q & A session.
"Nerdcore for Life" not only had the director/producer Dan Lamoureux, but High-C and Monzy on hand for a Q & A session.
"How to Be" attracted a huge crowd of young women.
Films I watched today:
• "A Snowmobile for George"
• "The Last Lullaby"
• "Crazy"
• "Goodnight Irene"
Films I watched Monday:
• "Hori Smoku Sailor Jerry"
• "Shall We Kiss?"
• "The Reflecting Pool"
Films I watched Tuesday:
• "Gonzo: The Life and Work of Hunter S. Thompson"
• "The Pussycat Preacher AND Virtual Freedom"
"Gonzo" was sold out 45 minutes before showtime. I was put on a waiting list in case some folks did not show up. Fifteen minutes before showtime, names on the waiting list were called out. Mine was called and I did get to see the film.
Films I watched Wednesday:
• "Burning the Future: Coal in America"
• "One Bad Cat: The Reverend Albert Wagner Story"
• "Small Voices: The Stories of Cambodia's Children"
• "An Unlikely Weapon"
Films I watched Thursday:
• "Summerhood"
• "After Midnight"
So, what films did I miss?

There were also panels, workshops, awards ceremonies, receptions and parties. I did well to see as many movies as I did. If you see a film on the list you recommend, let me know. I’m planning to add to my Blockbuster and Netflix queues. Some of these have not been released yet.
The festival finished Thursday night.
Anyway, I’m tired. % )
