It's all part of Obama's radical plan to get America to start thinking of itself as a shared enterprise with the rest of its citizens, instead of a place where everyone has to fend for themselves.
Crazy, I know.
I am curious to see what the final program looks like, but from what I've read this is geared towards offering a way for underprivileged young people to go to college without having to take out massive student loans. The idea here is to give grants to people who work in professions that are critical but not normally desirable (school teacher gets mentioned a lot).
I'm still paying for my student loans. Maybe I can send my bill to you to pay? Or do I have to fend for myself on this? I've also got a lot of credit card debt now trying to pay for my movie, so can you help me with that, too? I'd hate to fend for myself.
Crazy. I. Know.

Yeah, we should pay for it.
We could do it easily, too, for you and every other student in this country.
All we'd have to do is steer a few billion dollars away from the Pentagon and into education.
Your idea is to take that money away from the military industrial complex and give it back to the people. I agree. We can start by abolishing the income tax.

Okay.
How do we make up for the lost revenue?
If we cut the income tax, our federal government's revenue would go back to what it was when Clinton was in office. You don't think that's ample?

^ That's a good site.
Just for a change of pace, I'll wait a little while and think about my answer before responding.
