If I remember correctly, they also left sizable accounts and donations during and after their runs, so I'd be willing to give him a pass where hypocrisy is concerned.

His point about a lack of guilt, the shamelessness on part of two mentioned individuals, still stands though.

During the first part, Simon specifically mentions that any additional income of his, particularly in form of tax brakes, does the economy no good. "You can only have so many yachts" is a rather fitting hyperbole in this case. So if a privileged individual actively weakens society to further increase his own wealth -- which is already at harmful levels, economically speaking --, the lack of guilt and shame becomes incomprehensible to many people, myself included.

And if a privileged individual then tops it off by likening his treatment to that of Jews in '30s/'40s Germany... well, sociopathic is one way to describe it. We all live in our own bubbles, but their perception of reality truly is disconnected to such a degree that almost makes me pity them. Almost.

The car's condition depends mainly on whether or not the engine was running at the time the air intake was submerged (water does not compress well inside a cylinder) and if the water is fresh or salt. This is lake Baikal so it's fresh. The blurb a the end says its during the Baikal Cup ice yachting event and you can see some ice boats in the background so the ice is probably safe in most areas, just not in this one.

RE: Yachts or sailboats, I'd say both terms describe these just fine. Very fast yachts/sailboats, but that's what they are.

They're fucking terrifying. I sail dinghies and yachts, and I know how much a small dinghy can hurt you (pitch pole a 49er on a breezy day and see how you fair) and they're not moving anywhere near as fast as these things.

if you listen you can here them calling "man overboard!" (two guys went over), but then the good old kiwi attitude prevails... "nah nah... keep going!". Awesome!

btw...these guys are getting up to 45-50 knots, or close to 60mph, that's 92kmh. I don't think sailboat or yacht applies anymore.

Well Qman if you want employment to improve tell the so called job creators, and dear friends of the Republican right, to stop being such greedy assholes and start hiring people. Don't fire over 1000 people and keep the rest of their staff at minimum wages for over 4 years just so they can have a private jet... but you Republicans think that guy is in the right to destroy the lives of his employees, and you think those people he fired shouldn't have unemployment, and everyone else who works for him well under the cost of living shouldn't have aid, so he can have perhaps a yacht next time... to all that I say fuck catering to the wealthy... want cuts, cut the military, and very few of the 2% are job creators anyhow, so taxing them isn't really going to hurt jobs, stop deluding yourself. Taxing some rich lawyer, or surgeon or movie star, athlete or all the rest that makes up the bulk of the 2%...hell, taxing a CEO isn't going to hurt jobs unless he owns the company via LLC, and since most executives and the like in the 2% are just employees, once again, not hurting jobs.
