Kind of. Most laws are actually written by lobbies, and voted in by our 'representatives' (that don't represent us on any side, but represent the lobbies instead). Some few states have 'ballot initiatives' that allow direct voting on issues, but I think most don't.
(As an aside, I wish we would follow what I've read was the original draft of the constitution that 11-12 of 13 colonies ratified, but was discarded in favor of the one we follow today, which said clearly that lawyers can't hold public office outside the courtroom).

Common sense says if you are non-criminal only 99% of the time, you are criminal 1%, so at least once per day if not more often. If you don't understand that, or wish to continue to ignore it, you are insane or severely learning deficient. You can't even argue against that reality, so you turn to personal insults....so by your own rules, you loose.

I'm describing personal experience and long standing repeating investigations showing the same thing. When you're theory has been proven right, you are no longer a 'conspiracy theorist'. I didn't come to my conclusion until long after it had been proven true in many many cases (not all).

Yes, easy, and you would think that would matter, sadly not. It happened here in N Cal. 3-5 years ago, white kid even. No question the kid was shot in the back, and had no weapon, but the cop claimed he 'thought' he saw a weapon and feared for his life, and that the kid had quickly turned away right as he shot, and that's pretty much where it ended. Not the first stupid unarmed kid shot here, won't be the last with that outcome.

Being black in America is just a different experience than being white period. When you're a white kid and you have that realized to you, you have a couple of choices.

Ignore it, believe that your story is the only truth and that you're the protagonist (hero) in it and you can't be wrong. You go down this road and you willfully ignore and reject reality, living as a hypocrite.

Question it, why are things this way? Are things really this way? Maybe by understanding this situation and having empathy for others and their realities we can find common ground and move forward.

I'm not sure what that all meant, but I can sense that you are surprised/disappointed by my comment. Not to backtrack, because there is something that certainly struck me as odd and upsetting when I realized what the makeup artist had done here, but my comment was pithy to a fault; inappropriate was the wrong choice of words.

I have thought several times about it since I first made the point, and 'offputting' or 'disturbing' might have been better. I am not offended (specifically because I am white, so what the fuck do I have to be offended about) by the use of makeup in this case nor do I think that it violates some moral code (of which I am but a subjective arbiter). Rather, I think it was so poorly done as to draw attention and detract from the end product.

Blackface can be done right (a la Robert Downey Jr in Tropic Thunder) and it can be done wrong (e.g., every privileged white kid who dressed up as Trayvon Martin this Halloween). In this case, it was done wrong, if only subtly so.

Well many things would be different. Maybe the white kid would not have been profiled. Maybe he would not have become violent just because he was profiled. Remember, it takes a bigger man to walk away, and neither were a big man here.

Though Zimmerman was very racist, many Hispanics are. But I do think that if it was a white guy who dressed what's the word, typical of others yet justifiable, then Zimmerman would have. I look at my neighbors and see nice black men and women, even though the one had a crack record. I look at the white people down a house, and trash, tattoos and all. Now when you cross the block, wouldn't send my kids back to that area ever.

Your right but in Zimmerman neighborhood there have been break in by young black men. Hence young black thiefs' set the precedent for Martin to be followed.


If it were young white kids doing the break ins then Zimmerman would have followed them.

Its been later found but not allowed in the trial ( rightly so) that Martin had burgles tools and pot items in his locker, Woman's Jewelery. Also the pictures of him smoking pot and the gun photo on his phone and apparently he took a Swing at a bus driver.

In the end Martin is a young man embarking on his criminal carer and decided to teach Zimmerman a lesson and lost.

I'm not a betting man, but even I would bet that if Martin was a white kid instead of a black kid then none of this would have happened in the first place. In a perfect world the color of a someone's skin should not make a difference, but in this world it means you don't belong in this nice neighborhood and are probably a thief.

What attitude should a referee have? We're all sports fans, and seeing David triumph over Goliath is always fun. Also I didn't say I work hard to ensure that the Mexican kids triumph over the rich white kids.

Also you kinda have to know the history of the game to get what I'm talking about. Soccer is sort of a poor mans sport, which is why many of the Stars of the game have stories of coming from abject poverty.
