White Guilt In A Box-Safety Pin Box

Things aren't always as they seem

Jinx says...

Dunno, some relatives really hate each other

I'd love to see my DNA ancestry so I can say nigger (sorry sorry sorry) without white guilt because it says I'm 0.3% Sub-Saharan African.

No rly tho, I'm English as far back as anybody has looked so I'm actually a bit worried that it would turn out that the DNA indicates that my family have been sitting on this island FOREVER. I want an excuse to travel the world to find my "roots", fuck Holidays in the UK, it had best tell me I'm a Slav with bits of African and, err, Turkish! Yeah, I want to see Istanbul. Give me a bit of Turk too please.

*quality idea to make comparative DNA compulsory. It would certainly screw with people that advocate separation by race. It's much harder to dehumanize people when you realize you are likely related.

Red Band Trailer - "Keanu" ft. Key & Peele

Payback says...

True Story: When I first saw the trailer for Force Awakens I said to myself, "Peele??? no wait, not Peele."

Felt some good white guilt over the whole "they all look alike, hey?" reaction.

How Systemic Racism Works

This video makes some good points. It also perpetuates the problem. It also has a lot of deception.

Where's my 'white guilt' button?

Bill Maher and Ben Affleck go at it over Islam

Real Time with Bill Maher - Racism in America

Mordhaus says...

It is not a white problem, it is a human race problem. Every ethnicity has racism towards others. I refuse to allow people, whose only real knowledge of racism is what they've been taught by professors who make a living off 'white guilt', to label my race as inherently the only racist one based off of what happened almost 150 years ago.

Are there white racists? Hell yes! There are also Hispanic racists, Asian racists, and Black racists. Every culture fears and has stereotypes about other cultures that are not logical, but are ingrained into their sub-conscious from the moment they learn how to listen. If you have ever been to Japan, you learn very quick that there is a undercurrent of racism that is extremely strong. Same in the Middle East, same in many parts of Africa.

Is it fair to only label white people as racists when most of the people living today do not come from a family that owned slaves, or in some cases were close to slaves themselves? Half of my family came over to this country from Germany and immediately went to work in the coal mines, paying a huge chunk of their wages to the company store to subsist. The other half came from Italy and were also relegated to the poor jobs that no one wanted. I am 100% certain that they were scared and racist towards other races, because everyone is scared of the unknown. You grow out of it over time and the mixing of cultures.

White Guy vs Black Guy Break Into A Car Social Experiment

Yogi says...

Well it's natural to assume that he owns that car, because he's not black.

I think this would be a more interesting experiment if it was done multiple times in multiple cities over the course of say a few months. Doing it once isn't exactly scientific, it's interesting but I'm full of white guilt and I'm still not convinced.

Rep. Bridenstine (R - Okla) Questions Obama's Leadership

lantern53 says...

Blind adherence to the cult of personality.

Why do liberals love Obama?

1. he's black (not really...he's half white) so...white guilt
2. big choom smoker back in the day
3. has a great smile
4. young, so he's cool
5. trying to lessen the impact of America in the world, because they believe America is the root of all evil
6. supports abortion

How Obama gets away with it:
1. No one wants to be the person in the history books who 'brought down' Obama.

But don't give up hope, people, his chickens will come home to roost.

TYT: Have Republicans stopped pretending they're not racist?

shuac says...

Small tangent...

As far as terminology goes, I never got on board the "African-American" train because it was silly and it stank of white guilt. I don't feel guilty in the slightest so, yes, black people are still called black people around my place.

I'm not sure about pluralizing it with "the blacks," however. That might be going a bit too far. That's like say "the jews."

White people. Jewish people. Black people. That's how I roll.

Do Black Americans Believe Ron Paul Is Racist?

longde says...

One vote proves groupthink? Seriously?

I can show you votes where a majority of any particular group votes one way. On that particular election, there are other explanations: 1) the mormons heavily canvassed black communities, while the opponents of the measure took it for granted blacks would vote for their issue. 2) the rampant anti-black racism present in many pockets of the gay community in California.

On your link, I could pick out the qualities on that list and apply them to any given ethnic group, if I were to use stereotyping and conjecture, as you have done.

Race is a social construct, with real consequences for the people put in a group by society. Blackness in America is defined by appearance and the "one drop rule". Blackness is also defined by a shared culture and history, especially due to the forced isolation of black americans over the years. Given that, for you to flippantly say that blackness doesn't even exist (and to imply that by extension anti-black messages and bigotry similarly don't exist) is absurd and kind of arrogant.

All that said, the black american community still has a rainbow of perspectives, political views, religious views, aesthetic tastes, etc, that belies the premise of this video.

Don't work too hard. Peace out.

Sorry @longde, not to be too rude but.. you clearly don't know what the hell you're talking about.
The way the majority of Californian blacks voted for Proposition 8 [Nov 2008] show clear signs of groupthink.

[3 & 4 mainly].
I'm gonna assume you're a white dude viewing this video thru a lens of what appears to be white guilt.
Which is alright, but it definitely limits your understanding of my point I guess.
Tho as a half blackie with a vehement black power father, I'll have to assure you I know just how inculcated old black men can become on positions of race and morality. [Never torture your kids by taking them to NAACP meetings please]
Moreover, since RACE DOESN'T EXIST - only skin tones and culture - it's even dumber for you, white people, black people or any people to be upset about this group of black people for supporting "anti-black" rhetoric.
I'll discuss this further if your want to understand these people's reasoning better. Late for work right now tho.
Peace

Sorry to bust your bubble, but infinite growth is simply not possible, nor is it desirable. For economic growth you need demographic growth (just look at how EU keeps sucking in immigrants to counterbalance the non-renewing fertility rate... it's definitely not out of kindness of heart). More people = more mouths to feed, but also exchanging cultivated land for inhabited land. Moreover, even if we manage to have 100% renewable power, much of the material we use (metals, gases, etc) are of a finite nature and rapidly depleting. Recycling is great, but can never be 100% effective, and even if it could, there are elements (think helium) that once they're gone they're gone, basta.

In the long run, we can only have a sustainable society if the growth imperative is scratched out of our mentality.

As long as our society is built around the imperative of growth (economic, demographic), we will continue to irretrievably destroy ourselves. The equation is simple: infinite possibility for growth - finite resources = self-destruction.

The thing is, renewable resources = infinite resources. I really believe infinite possibility for growth can be sustained, but what we have here is irresponsible growth. It's not growth as much as a viral consumption.
I think the next step is to start getting some names. Company names, shareholder names, CEO names. Find the people responsible for making these decisions, and education or kill them. Wait... what?
Anyway, this will never stop unless you confront individuals directly. It's very rare that indirect opposition (pacifist movements, ghandi/king jr. civil rights) works. So rare that I've given up on it for such dire circumstances.
Dear America: still feeling all that white guilt from the complete genocide of several hundred thousand indigenous natives on the norther continent? Well it's still happening right now. Now's your chance to make up for it.

Liberal and Conservative Brains are Physically Different

Ryjkyj says...

Very creative! Here's what you need to know about BHO.
He's a child of privilege posing as a downtrodden victim who somehow climbed out of America's drowning pool of "racism".
Every president ever has existed under an altered image. George Washington didn't really cut down a cherry tree.
He isn't terribly bright but he knows what he's doing. He was nominated to assuage idiots' "White Guilt." He is an affirmative-action president with no real political credentials.
Right, people who aren't very bright become professors of constitutional law at Harvard all the time.
He's got a grudge against America, American Exceptionalism and free market capitalism. What the "Reverend" Jeremiah Wright believes, BARACK believes.
I have a grudge against Exceptionalism and free market capitalism, but still love America with all my heart. Do you still beat your wife?
He's likely a closet atheist, but for now obviously can't admit it.
There he goes proving his intelligence again. Bush wasn't a Texan either.
He has had no achievements to speak of since taking office, unless--UNLESS--you understand what his true motives are: turn America into just another forgettable Euro-dump with no identity. Suddenly it makes sense!
Does getting Osama count? Before you say that it's the Seals that got him, remember that Obama came under heavy fire for thinking we should reach into Pakistan.
"BULLPLOP QM! Barack wants JOBS for Americans!" As long as he embraces Keynesian rubbish, it won't happen. And he can't turn back now.
You don't know that his strategy won't work, this problem was a long time in the making. And it will be a long time getting out. (I've seen Morganthau quote)
The libmedia works for BHO as if they were being paid directly from the White House. They hide his gaffes, downplay his goof-ups and hide the results of his schemes.
I can't argue with this one. I stopped watching the news a long, long time ago.
America is worse off now than when this jug-eared socialist was elected.
Again, no one... no one... could have stopped the giant snowball yet.
I'm not a liberal (anymore) so I can't match wits wit the brilliant geniuses here, but the results of the BHO Fraudsidency speak for themselves. Every day.
I don't know why I feel the need to defend this president. Especially considering that I think all politicians are completely full of shit. I guess I was just way more comfortable with him than any of our other options. Do we really believe that he's anything but a powerless figurehead anyway?

Also, as far as the video is concerned, the problems we face are way more complicated than "working harder" and "getting more". A complex system composed of billions of individuals cannot be boiled down to a few simple rules. And the rules we have will constantly have to change as people adapt to the new system anyway. All kindergartners are taught that one plus one equals two. It takes a lifetime to even visualize what it truly takes to have a functioning society.
