Joe Biden Faces Questions Over Claims of Civil Rights

Trump Gives Mitt Romney A Cool New Nickname

JiggaJonson says...

@bobknight33 You are an asshole. Like others have said, Mitt isn't someone I agree with but he seems to be an honest person when it counts.

John McCain was someone who I loathed mostly for picking that religious-nut-writhing-on-the-ground-chanting Sarah Palin. Genuine policy disagreements and VP pick aside though, he was a patriotic American and highlights just what a traitor this president and his supporters are to this country in comparison.

That said, he spent 5 years being tortured in Vietnam rather than leaving immediately because he refused to leave without his fellow American captors.

John McCain was and remains an honorable person and a patriotic American who cared about his own.

Here's a detailed account https://www.usnews.com/news/articles/2008/01/28/john-mccain-prisoner-of-war-a-first-person-account

"What they wanted, of course, was to send me home at the same time that my father took over as commander in the Pacific. This would have made them look very humane in releasing the injured son of a top U. S. officer. It would also have given them a great lever against my fellow prisoners, because the North Vietnamese were always putting this "class" business on us. They could have said to the others "Look, you poor devils, the son of the man who is running the war has gone home and left you here. No one cares about you ordinary fellows." I was determined at all times to prevent any exploitation of my father and my family.

There was another consideration for me. Even though I was told I would not have to sign any statements or confessions before I went home, I didn't believe them. They would have got me right up to that airplane and said, "Now just sign this little statement." At that point, I doubt that I could have resisted, even though I felt very strong at the time.

But the primary thing I considered was that I had no right to go ahead of men like Alvarez, who had been there three years before I "got killed"—that's what we say instead of "before I got shot down," because in a way becoming a prisoner in North Vietnam was like being killed."

Don't ever talk about him again you fucking traitor.

Ice Age is Coming 1978 Science Facts

newtboy says...

Yep. Who you gonna believe? A super smart scientifically minded VP or an actor who played a fictitious 60's sci fi character who "found evidence" of esp, human/plant communication, Ogopogo, aliens landing at Nazca, mummy curses, ghosts, and Stonehenge as a giant magnetic force field that covers Britain....all in season one.
The question itself exposes your irrationality.

Who are you going to believe: Al Gore or Mr. Spock? I think we all know the answer to that question.

No...I didn't say that. But Joe Biden was working on orders from the Obama admin as VP.

Imagine this for a second. Your son works at a police station and you are the mayor of town. Your son is kind of a dumbass but he got the job probably because of a reference to you. "You know...I'm Bobknight33's son."

There is an internal affairs head who keeps getting complaints. Complaints from the department, complaints form OTHER police stations. Your son is not under investigation and has not filed a complaint he is getting paid well though even though he's only a half assed employee who got in because of your position.

Finally a complaint comes from the governor of your state. This internal affairs guy is so bad that u are being ordered by the governor to remove him from his position within your power. You can't fire him directly, but you talk to the union guys, you talk to his department head, and explain we're cutting funding if this guy isn't gone. I'm being ordered to do this by my boss.

Then he's fired. All investigations remain open, transfer to a new person. You're relieved to see that your son hasn't been dealing with this old internal affairs guy in any way.

You put a new guy in there and he starts to investigate your son and his job and his partners.

Then people start complaining "the mayor only did this because it benefitted his son!!!" Bc...now his partners are under investigation under the new guy. He wasn't under investigation before but is now. How is that a benefit? How is that shady business dealings?

Explain yourself.

So in you mind as long as Joe is running for an office he is hands off from investigating.

Trump is not trying to get dirt of a candidate but to continue his effort to drain the swamp, which Joe seems to be neck deep in it.

Heck even the socialist see through the democrat BS.

370 Federal Prosecutors Would Indict Trump For Felonies

cloudballoon says...

I consider the Dems as criminals... in not impeaching Trump. There's a point where impeachment is no longer a political "calculation" (even if you think it is one) but a defense mechanism for democracy and justice. Evidence demonstrate we're long past that point.

It's not like taking down Trump the USA will not have a POTUS... you'll have the VP as immediate replacement. As much a delusional self-righteous lame-ass Pence is, the Right can at least salvage what little dignity remained by not having a chaotic egomaniac to lead them. That's a win for the Republicans no?

Stage 9 - Virtual Enterprise-D Tour v0.0.10

Sometimes I'm very glad that I live in a country that generally doesn't give a f@$% about US Copyright and Intellectual Property.

Since that is the case, and because I also happen to derive some schadenfreude-esque pleasure from the "Streisand effect", I have decided to download and seed for the foreseeable future the 6GB worth of files for the last version of Stage 9 before the shutdown, including Windows, Linux, and VR variants.

Anyone interested in following suit can use this magnet link, although there is potential for ISP strikes/warnings if you live in the US or other places where they have a less laissez-faire approach to these things than in Thailand (where I live).

Fair use needs protection. When that fails, at least one can assist with unfettered use, even if the powers that be claim that use is illegitimate.

Trade: Last Week Tonight with John Oliver

Xaielao says...

Heh I can understand why you think so. No I was talking Truman. Granted he wasn't as completely unaware as Trump was when he was elected. But he'd only served in the senate for two years before he was pushed in as VP. Note that the VP selection process was really different even though it was only ~70 years ago.

Once he got selected he became president that same year. Instead of working along Roosevelt's post-war plan and he refused to be a part of the grand alliance (meetings between the leaders of the big 3 powers that came out of that war).

Instead he started threatening the USSR with nuclear war if they worked toward developing nuclear weapons or expanded their territory... the so called Truman Doctrine.

He also played a fairly big roll in starting the whole middle eastern mess we're still dealing with to this day. Though that obviously goes back to the political failures after the Great War.

Guy was a dumb-ass who by reports of those around him didn't know WTF he was doing half the time.

Are you under the impression Reagan started the cold war? If so, you're off by about 34 years - it started in 1947, under Truman. Would be hard to argue he knew nothing about politics, particularly at that point in his life...

Newsreader Loses It On Radio When Reporting Felchers

Huitzimangari says...

It was written in an hour. Someone (VP of a media buying service in Chicago) had left an offensive but lame story about a gerbil (no tube, no names, no flames, one person) on my desk in an attempt to irritate. I took that and rewrote to the perverse, offensive wonder above. Only difference between that and my original was the name of the Gerbil.
From when I wrote it in the 80s and placed it on his desk in reply he had to have shared it quite a bit.

Bill Burr Doesn’t Have Sympathy For Hillary Clinton

vil says...

I don't know... does not seem such a bad loss in retrospect:

2016 Trump 62,985,105 Clinton 65,853,625
2012 Romney 60,933,504 Obama 65,915,795
2008 McCain 59,948,323 Obama 69,498,516

I'd forgotten McCain ran with Palin as VP, that would have been as ludicrous as Trump if they won and something unfortunate happened to him.

Bill Burr Doesn’t Have Sympathy For Hillary Clinton

moonsammy says...

All it probably would have taken was a more interesting VP pick on Hillary's part. Did anyone really care about Tim Kaine being on the ticket?

I'm curious to see how the dem primary in 2019/20 goes. Hoping for someone like Franken, Warren, maybe Bernie again if he seems up to it. Hillary had best not even try again after this embarrassment.
