EPIC FAIL! Twitch Live Streamer Accidentally Burns His House

RFlagg says...

It's not the game. He was playing Minecraft. What you hear is the text to speech of his donation bot. Many Twitch streamers now use text to speech to read donations. I believe somebody said that it kept saying "behind you" but I haven't been able to independently verify that.

There has been contradicting information on the extent of the damage, to being minor with no injuries, to burning his place and 3 others down. There were initially rumors of a death, but that was later found to be another fire.

It rather much an epic fail though. I mean there's being Swatted: http://videosift.com/video/Raided-by-SWAT-SWATTED-while-live-streaming or being robbed at gunpiont: http://videosift.com/video/Twitch-Streamer-Robbed-At-Gunpoint-During-Stream, neither of which is the Streamer's fault, but this guy....

Can someone translate what the game is saying? Sounds like it would be either hilarious or creepy. Especially the last words.

Hero Defends a Defenseless Blind Kid

I think twitching and other weird movement is normal after getting knocked out. I've only watched a little MMA, but seen it plenty of times. You can also see it in ride-along fighter jet videos where the pilot pulls G's until the passenger blacks out. While they're out and/or waking up some weird stuff happens.

My only issue with the design is the hover comes too quick. I tend to mouse around a lot, and jump tabs while watching videos and even if I am getting ready to tab out for a moment, the hover effect blocking the video sort of irritates. If it pushed the rest of the video down below the hover, that'd be okay, or a slightly longer hover, that'd be good.

Other than the hover effect, I don't mind the layout personally. Sort of a more "Theater mode", which both YouTube and Twitch offer as an option. I'd say perhaps offer this new Theater mode as the default, and if a user sets it to "normal" than allow for that (non-users get a cookie that expires quicker rather than an option setting).

I'm not going to break much new ground with the rest, most of it has been stated and I'm echoing with my own thoughts.

The loss of channels seems odd. Either put it under the submitter or under the description. Same with number of views and video length.

The who voted could be put into the hover effect over the vote counter, again with a small delay.

Perhaps time stamps on the comments.

I'm looking at this via a desktop I should note, with a 1080 screen, so the layout works so far. The vote buttons for me are in a good spot. How this works via mobile I don't know yet.

Nah, that looks like cluelessness on the police's part. Look at the police's body language there. They aren't adrenaline pumped, twitch reflexed anger balls, and that's mostly my point.

Japanese Sword skills - Modern Samurai Isao Machii

The rice split was impressive, you can see that his initial aim was a bit high, then at the last moment he twists the blade. That is extremely fast twitch, not conscious movement but a reaction.

Raided by SWAT (SWATTED) while live streaming

I haven't looked into him specifically, I just went to their twitch page http://www.twitch.tv/thecreatures
where they have a subscription and people occasionally donate to their favorite streamers. Assumingly, he gets a cut of the subscription and whatever people donate to him.

Anyway, gold nova (which you can see when he gets kicked to menu on mid-left above friends) is the competitive rank in CS:GO meaning he's basically in the 60-70 percentile. http://blog.counter-strike.net/index.php/2012/10/5565/
So he's slightly above average, but maybe he's fun to watch, or interesting to listen to.

Kevin Ward Jr. hit and killed by Tony Stewart

Sniper007 says...

Here's a counter theory by another racer:

"I haven't seen how Stewart handled the car preimpact. That said, those vehicles require speed for what little grip they have, as it's largely generated by the roof fin, and they don't really steer so much as surf. If you watch the cornering style it's a full on drift. That makes twitch steering pretty ineffective - you steer from the back which requires heavy throttle.

You don't see Stewart's approach ( at least on the vid I've seen ), and the fishtail post impact I would attribute to the impact itself. His approach does not seem consistent with trying to spray the other driver with dirt ; that would have to be a at a high angle relatively speaking and he seemed to come in straight.

It's possible that Stewart intended to kill, but I really think it's highly unlikely. When you're racing you have a lot to deal with, and whilst under a yellow flag undertaking is typically verboten and in theory you should be slowing down, but in reality you are always looking to get the drop as soon as the yellows disappear. To that end you're scanning the track looking for disabled vehicles.

You're not scanning for drivers standing in the middle of the track - the assumption would be that the driver stays safely secured in the car, or they hop the barrier. If that can't happen for some reason, it's the job of race control to red flag the race.

My personal theory, based on incomplete footage - I'd like to see in car footage from Stewart ideally - is that Stewart just didn't see him in time to make any effective attempt to miss. It's a night race, and Stewart would have been concentrating on the disabled vehicle to his right. There's not much about Ward's outfit that would attract attention - from Stewart's perspective, black helmet, black racesuit, against a dark dirt background. These vehicles don't use headlights, so there's nothing to offset the glare of the spotlights.

In a perfect world Stewart would have seen and avoided, but ultimately Ward put himself in a fucking stupid position and paid the price. I'm not surprised to see lack of remorse on Stewart's part ; Ward shouldn't have been there, plain and simple.

Anyhow, that's my thinking on this - I don't know or follow anyone in that type of series, so I'm claiming to be bias free here. Racers know that motorsport is dangerous, so you do what you can to mitigate risk, not increase it by orders of magnitude.

Edit : Looking at it a few more times, it's also possible that Stewart was trying to rotate the car around Ward - throttling up and steering right would have pushed the back away from Ward, which might have made the outcome different. I still say it's a Darwin."

Kirikou and the Sorceress

Oh, I watched this on tv around 2001 or so on CBC I think it was, I always remembered the name, the video is very great and something a person would watch on a friday night before bed with the kids type thing, or in the afternoon after triscuits and cheese tea party. or after bong hoots and heroin overdoses while you lay there twitching this could be on in the back ground.
