Cars suck, public transport rules, it's obvious
so... improve public transport.![](https://videosift.com/vs5/emoticon/wink.gif)
choggie, even if cars ran on fairy dust they would still take up too much space, unless you invent one that can shrink humans and their luggage.
i am not really talking about "the envirerment" here, i just don't like cars all over the city. it would be much nicer if they weren't there so much.
automating cars might be one answer, so they can't go fast or crash and you can be drunk in them if you want, and they can drive closer together.
but anyway we built cities around horses, then put cars in them, and now they are full of traffic jams, that's gotta be wrong.
Cars suck, public transport rules, it's obvious
so the point is, if the bus was good, and the car was restricted, then everyone would be happy
imagine cities without traffic jams, that's a big big big big benefit. nice ![](https://videosift.com/vs5/emoticon/smile.gif)

Oakland Bay Bridge - Accident After the 1989 Earthquake
I was in the earthquake and watched it that night on the news.
Here's part of the news story:
The 7.1-magnitude Loma Prieta earthquake, which was centered south of San Francisco, collapsed a portion of the upper deck of the eastern span of the Bay Bridge on Oct. 17, 1989. One woman was killed in that collapse.
And more:
CHP report said the woman killed when she drove into the gap left by a fallen section of the Bay Bridge during the earthquake was to blame for her own death. The attorney for Anamafi Kalausa Moala called the report a "whitewash" of the CHP's and Caltrans' bungling of the huge traffic jam on the bridge and resulting confusion after sections of deck collapsed.
Going the Speed Limit
This is a pretty stupid experiment. The signs that read "Left lane is for passing only" are there for a reason.
It is very, very, very rare for five cars to be going the exact same speed in a line. OFCOURSE that is going to cause traffic jams, etc. I agree with joshb, people who want to drive the speed limit just stay in the right lane and it wont bother anyone.
The Internet: "A Series of Tubes"
He cited not getting an email until the next day...like it was being help up in a worldwide traffic jam. That's not "the internet," that's the service provider - ironically the same people who are backing Net Neutrality.
