How To Cover These Police Riots - SOME MORE NEWS

A Deer In Headlights

wtfcaniuse says...

The way he used to talk always made be think he was just an account used by a troll farm. The changes in spelling, vocab, grammar and tone seemed like it was different people.

Unless he just cut and pasted other peoples comments from some nutbag "patriot" FB group he's in.

How Fox News has shifted its coronavirus rhetoric

luxintenebris says...

yeah. it's a blast when it's just talk and no consequences. it was just fun for them, now it's not. how sad for them.

there are predictions that this virus could last into the spring of next year. combine it w/the next flu season this fall and Fox just might have to carry on this tone for over a year.

from anger, venom, and spittle to careful, thoughtful, and measured words? geez. what a loss.

Feet To The Fire!

newtboy says...

You realize her tone and aggression are a response to administration officials refusing to answer questions with life or death consequences, refusing to commit to following the law or using the power of their office to do anything helpful, or to commit to anything, right?
When it's your job to serve the nation and citizens by getting answers and commitments that have life or death consequences for thousands and what you get is red herrings, non sequiturs, and feigned ignorance, an aggressive tone is the only appropriate tone.

When the administration and it's allies in congress's only tone is venomous vitriol and berserker rage for anything non Trumpian and self congratulatory kudos over their own failures, an aggressive tone is the only proper response. Those healthcare bureaucrats likely do agree with her, but know that doing so in public will bring the wrath of the infant in chief and his lackeys. Only forcing them to admit their obligations and make public commitments gets anywhere, as she proved here.

What is it about her you think is terrible if her points are good? Makeup? Hair? Penmanship?

Neighbor Calls Police After Hearing A Woman Crying For Help

smr says...

Also had an amazon yellow neck, loved that bird. Neighbors thought we had a mentally handicapped family member for a while. The bird learned to imitate my mother nagging, same tone and pace. It was spot one. She learned to call my brother down from upstairs, too. That happened plenty. In combination there was more than one instance that I thought my brother was getting reamed out after being called down.
Hard to keep on a nag rant when 10 seconds in the bird starts copying you. The bird didn't last much more than two months after it learned that trick. Best nag-free two months of our childhood, though!

VFX Artist Shows You TRUE POWER of Warships!

Way too mush positive enthusiasm for a machine that is purely made to kill people. These human killing machines are brutal in their efficiency. I almost feel like the music should be a sound of dred with a somber tone explanation. Discussing them as entertainment seems wrong to me. Not only that, but this is the decommissioned ship, they didn't even get to the more modern ships which can kill way more people, more accurately, and at greater distances.

Of course, this is all to promote a video game, and they want you excited to buy and play their game, and pump them full of micro-payments. I also know their are people that thrive on guns and killing, but as a human being, to me, this seems very uncomfortable.

No, I'm not anti-video game, just anti-realism in video games and killing people. Give me Aliens and sci-fi, or demons and monsters any day

Mexico's Magical Fireflies

newtboy says...

Lol. The narrator sounds quite ominous...dark and foreboding. Judging by his tone, I expected him to finish by saying "in that one magical hour, the fireflies of Mexico eat people."
*promote a *quality natural event. Nature's fireworks.

Bathtime

Digitalfiend says...

I wonder how much "bath" sounds like "bad" to a dog when said in that sort of tone. But yeah, it's sort of funny when dogs do this but I'd much rather assure my buddy that he's being good.

Student - D'Souza to convince him life starts at conception

Sagemind says...

Personally, I am Pro Choice for women to make their own decision on the gestation of biological cells growing in their own bodies up to a certain age of the fetus.

What I don't understand is, are you calling this man pathetic because he "gave two arguments FOR pro choice"? - based on principals laid out by Lincoln in his example?
Or because
Pro Choice doesn't align with your beliefs?

Sorry, you wrap your words up in several ways but you don't come out and say what side you're arguing for so I can't tell the tone or nature of your comments.

I personally don't feel the entity, the biological growth of cells is a person just because it has a heart beat. Does it have consciousness? Is it a thinking being with self awareness? Because I don't remember anything from when I was a fetus. In fact, I don't think the brain is developed at all ...

"not until the end of week 5 and into week 6 (usually around forty to forty-three days) does the first electrical brain activity begin to occur." ~'The Ethical Brain' - The New York Times.

And even then, it's still in development and not a an organ that can contain consciousness.

What Happens When You Try to File a Complaint Against a Cop

newtboy says...

Bob.
You must be joking.
'We don't like the way you look' is justification for violent abuse of power in your great America, eh?
You really must be Russian, I've rarely heard anything more unAmerican and short sighted.

edit: I was completely respectful and compliant until the cop removed his gun from my head and knee from my neck....my respect or lack thereof had zero to do with his actions, tone, or threats.

Besides, the cop had his gun out through my window before he saw me based on his misreading my licence plate and assuming it was a stolen plate/car, a new Honda Civic....it had nothing to do with my looks at least at first.
I got the same disrespectful treatment with a buzz cut as when I had hair to my waist. I got harassed when I wore a prep school uniform and when I wore tattered army surplus.

Ever thought your disrespectful preconceptions might be wrong?

Newt not all cops are bad.

You had a bad experience and as you say "As a Mohawk sporting punk, I was often singled out as a younger teen for no good reason, "

Maybe you just looked like bad egg. Ever thought of cleaning up you act back then?

My brother had a cop put his gun to his head - he deserved it and I've been arrested a few times -- youthful kid stuff. I hold no ill will to cops. They just want to get home safe. If all interactions between cop and respectful citizens things would soften up after some time.

WRT to this video -- All were dicks and need to to have a complaint against them.

Sarah help me!

Sagemind says...

I communicate 70*80% with clients at work through email, and I totally get this. Any time, I have something that isn't coming across right, instantly I need to pick up the phone.

I've also told my son that I won't discuss things with him through text any more. Doesn't matter what I say in response to his texts, he thinks I'm mad at him, and I think he's mocking me lol

Though in person, or by phone, everything always sounds perfectly acceptable. "Tone of voice" doesn't translate in short sentences,

I have to admit, I originally thought this was a new sift. I scrolled down after watching it and saw my previous comment before seeing your new one at the end here and was a little taken aback by how cruel it reads. I can be fairly certain my intended tone was meant to be playfully mocking, but with four years to forget in between, it seems downright venomous now.

Somewhere a few years back, I read that when sending an e-mail or whatever, it is best to read it back to yourself imagining it was written by the biggest asshole you know. Then based on the assumption that it will be received the same way by the actual recipient, edit it so it doesn't piss you off anymore. That was pretty good advice.

Naturally that doesn't apply here, of course, because I am anonymous and being a giant asshole is my god given right.
