A different type, but yeah, they can be found under just about every pot these days. Every somewhat covered crevice seems to harbour some, really.

I had only seen singular examples in damp corners until maybe 3 or 4 years ago when they started popping up in ever increasing numbers. Nowadays, go outside and lift any pot, you'll find 5+ of them scrambling. When I pulled up the edge of an old sheet of rolled roofing the other day, there were dozens of them.

Since you've noticed such a decline in insects where you are, have you noticed a corresponding increase in pill bugs (really crustaceans)? I have here in N Cali

Authentic Medieval Sword Techniques

I don't know much about HEMA, but why would you have a guard that requires you to hold the blade?

I can understand it on a single-edged blade but on a double-edged sword?

Why Are There Razor Blades In My Walls?

Mordhaus says...

I still use one of those double edged razors, works soooooo much better than the new ones.

EDIT: If you are wondering, the new razor containers have a slot in the back to slide the used ones in. They also last for a lot longer than one shave, usually about 2 weeks if I shave every day. You can tell when they start slightly tugging at the hairs prior to cutting them. They are a lot cheaper than normal disposable razors as well.

I have to agree (it has lost it's edge) even though i enjoyed this season of GOT it was hardly as WTF as previous seasons. I mean it's still GOTs, so still awesome. I however had thought some of the same things addressed in the video while watching. Won't talk about specifics because SPOILERS if anyone accidentally reads this.

Fear of heights will not deter this dad

You should go to Toronto and do the CN Tower Edge Walk.

I just recently developed a fear of heights. For me it's not that I'm going to go over the edge, but that at that moment when looking over, the building will fall over or the ground under me will give way and crumble. It's only in the past few years that this fear has developed. I don't know why and I hate it.

My friends growing up were the type to grab onto you and scream while you're at the edge. I'm always certain it will happen again whenever I get into these situations. Probably has more to do with the time they screwed up and I went down a 100ft sand embankment.

Spoiler: I survived.

Fear of heights will not deter this dad

AeroMechanical says...

I'm not afraid of heights (outside of the normal sense of being afraid of anything that will kill me), and I had to do exactly the same thing to look over the edge at the Cliffs of Moher. Going in, I thought I was going to be cool about it and just walk right up and look over the edge, but about five or six feet from the edge my hindbrain said "no sir, bad idea" and took away my voluntary movement privileges.

Tony Awards 2013 - Neil Patrick Harris and Mike Tyson

bcglorf says...

To be fair, his ability to punch people really hard was top notch. Additionally, as he lost his edge of being the best at punching people, he was good at biting people, so there's that too.

Honestly I couldn't agree more with you. Maybe I just haven't seen what the 'redeeming' factor is, but seems like his celebrity of personality just managed to carry on and the industry just kept cashing in on it. So blame everyone of us that still cares enough about his appearances to comment on him for both good or ill. You know, like we are...

In light of how awesome that was, I feel churlish bringing this up; but what is with Mike Tyson coming back into things these days?

The guy's a convicted rapist. Yes, he served his time and everyone deserves a second chance, but do we really have to embrace him as some kind of pop culture icon?

In an atmosphere where everything from Penny Arcade to Game of Thrones is being labelled as a "trigger warning", why is no-one questioning this? If my facts are wrong, please correct me, but honestly, it seems pretty fucked up to me.

Helicopter Rescue Accident

jimnms says...

It has a fan driven by the main gearbox. It's pretty rare for those to fail, but does spin like it lost control of yaw though. My first thought was since it's landing so close to the edge of that cliff, if the wind is moving from the right to left, there is going to be a big updraft coming over the cliff.

Watching it again, it looks like the pilot is having to fight some wind and seems to be having trouble keeping it down. Between 40-45 seconds, it looks like the wind changes as the helicopter appears to lift up and weather-vane into the wind just before losing control.

I found this video which is in German. If the Google auto-translate isn't too off, it says the cause is still unknown, but whoever they're interviewing at the end speculates that the helicopter was too heavy for the altitude it was operating at.

Rhino Rules The Road

lucky760 says...

The aspect ratio of the video is wonky, and the "smart" sizing doesn't know how tall it should make the viewport.

It's an edge case and the video player is too dumb to know to keep the control bar in the viewport, so it allows it to go out of the bottom of the frame where you can't touch it. If you right-click you can select pause and mute. I wonder if you long-hold on a tablet it'll give you those options.

Oh wow i see if you use the new sift design it starts muted and there is no option to turn on the music In the old sift design(which i use ) you can turn sound onhttp://imgur.com/a/8Bl1t. You can Opt out of the new design at the very bottom of the page or try this https://videosift.com/video/Rhino-Rules-The-Road?vs6=optout.

When i try it on an ipad it starts with sound and has no option to mute. Weird.
