The ref apparently called hindrance. The USTA defines hindrance as being hindered in playing the point by an opponent's deliberate act. I think one could reasonably argue that the opponent's scream--mocking or not--was a deliberate act that hindered the other player.

That's some ol BS right there. If one can grunt, the other can grunt back. If grunting is a problem, guy in blue should lose.
No wonder these judges get hit with tennis racquets.

I'd never heard it called a Galilean Cannon before, but I was doing this with two of my kid's balls this week. Kids love it, but adults are completely confused by how powerful it is.

I love table tennis, but I know it looks kinda silly to most people when played seriously. Grown men and women taking giant swings with tiny paddles. This is a new level of silly. It combines the most ridiculous part of soccer with an already silly looking sport. I'd still rather watch it then baseball though.

I was wondering about that one too... It seems that they took questions asked of women or comments made about women, and tried to translate some of them into questions that could apply to men - but they obviously dropped the ball on that translation.

They give some quotes on their webpage, and one that might have been the inspiration for the mobility question is “Generally, I'm all for chunky sports stars ... but tennis requires a mobility Serena cannot hope to achieve while lugging around breasts that are registered to vote in a different US state from the rest of her.” But that's not a comment that would pass without criticism if it was said about a woman either, so it's not a great example.

Well, this fellow is very white, frisbee golf just seems like a very white thing to do, and partly I'm channeling Bill Burr's rant walking throughout Newport as he spouts hyperbolically about white privilege and then there's a motorhome driving through that he refers to as white trash. This fellow definitely isn't white trash, but there's a certain blissful socio-economically absurd trashyness/kitsch to a black and orange painted motorhome driving around with a frisbee golf cage on it, like the world's things are but toys in this man's sway. There's just this feel that pervades the short films, like we're seeing another of the Winkelvoss twins at play. He reminds me of a friend in university who learned to play Mario Tennis on the N64 against himself, each hand with a separate controller.

He's just so absurdly (yet innocently) white, in such a way as to be deserving of light ribbing. There's clearly an ineffable quality that I'm struggling to describe but do you know what I mean, even partly?

Fine, I get that they don't want to have men fighting women. Personally, I don't have a problem with it (I train with women all the time). The important point is that it's not a man "beating up" a woman, it's a man "competing with" a woman where both parties are consenting.

Sorry, but it's exactly the same as golf, tennis, or basketball. The men's competition is the "X/Y/Z champion" and the women's is the "women's X/Y/Z competition".

It might not seem like much, but omitting "Men's" from the bantamweight title makes it the default, "real" competition and the "women's" is the secondary.

I wasn't thinking he was rich kid who goes to tennis camp because he was at a tennis match; it was because he was courtside and was very skilled--he doesn't look like some kid who has never held a racquet before or only plays at the park with friends. He was too good.
