Fletch pretty much said everything i wanted to say. Possibly the stupidest thing that has come out of gun lobbies is the parking lot sales where guns just disappear from the system. And no amount of "militia" rhetorics make any sense; if government wants you, they'll get you. They do have stealth bombers ffs. Your AR-15 won't even make a scratch on that tank running your house flat. In order for personal weapons to be a viable counter balance to military forces is when you are some where along ratios of 1/10, not 1/10000. You make a lot more damage under oppression with a wrench, wire cutter or blowtorch in the dead of night than what armed confrontation with superior force will achieve.

All you have to do is tell them that Iraq is minutes from a nuclear weapon, doesn't matter if it's true, a HUGE percentage of Americans believe it regardless of any facts. Also I was pointing out that there's nothing to be scared of, I for instance am not scared of Iran. Because I have a brain, I can look at things rationally and I'm not a reactionary idiot.

Yeah that's the stupidest argument I've ever heard. I can kill someone with a knife and with my hands but I have to make a concerted effort to do so. It's a bunch of individual decisions. A Gun takes a single decision and many times in this country not even a decision to kill someone. I talk a lot about not giving the government the permission to do certain things. What about making sure that individuals aren't given the right to have such immediate control of my life? I have to walk into a store with someone who is open carry, who at anytime can decide my life is forfeit?

Every argument I've heard from Gun Supporters doesn't hold up, yet they say "LOGIC!" No it's not enough to be logical, if you think it is you're just dumb. Also DUMB logic doesn't work at all. Gun supporters aren't stupid, they just like guns, and they'll make lazy arguments unless they're stood up to and required to fucking think.

No ones thinking, everyones just moving along.

I disagree with Penn, when he says Mormonism isn't crazier, just more modern.
It absolutely IS crazier. The founder of Mormonism is someone who we know (because there are official, historical records, from a time when these records were already pretty believable) was a convicted con man. And he stuck his head in a hat to decode ancient tablets which, by the way, he was the only one to have seen.

At least Mormonism is still a Christian religion. Sure, they are more like Christians: the director's cut with additional footage never before seen and the core tenants of the religion are based on a delusional con-man's fantasies, but they are still, at the core, a Christian religion.

I do have to give Mormons credit for their family support, charities, and their ability to take care of their members in need. They have a fantastic family support group. When the shit hits the fan and the world ends, Mormons will be the last few people standing.

I am an atheist as they get, but as an organization, Mormons do some pretty great things for the community. Scientology, on the other hand, is a scary cult that needs to be destroyed.
