Dune II: The Building of a Dynasty
Man.... those were my peak PC gaming days. I was into RPG, RTS, TBS and simulations (racing & flight) mostly for the long hours, SFII and FPS for the short plays.
Loved Dune II. It's one of a handful few RTS that I would replay more than once throughout the years. I like it over C&C/Warcraft, the storylines more mature. But Starcraft was the best for an RTS. But THE strategy game that I go back to most often is X-COM.
World's First 3D Printed Rocket | Veritasium
Starcraft is good. The guy beeing so much the epitome of a nerd makes starcraft not a problem.

The Starcraft bit was pretty awful. Feel like Derek could've done the guy a favor and edited that out.
STARCRAFT II (Honest Game Trailers)
As a Starcraft fan: Ouch, too honest!! : D
Classic DOS games roundup, circa 1995
I was 13/14, games back then were magical. Anytime I was on a plane or in the car I was reading PC Gamer or CGM drooling over the demos (or shareware!), ads, previews and reviews. Remember those days? When information on gaming was largely through print?! I still remember those Dark Forces previews, I could have shot a load. PC gaming at that point really was fucking cutting edge.
1997 & 1998 also hold a special flame in gaming for me - 1997: Ultima Online (actually learned HTML and had a website for UO cuz I was a NERD), Fallout, GTA, Age of Empires, Dungeon Keeper, Quake II, Myth (incredible multiplayer component probably even still).
1998: Starcraft, Half-Life, Baldur's Gate, Thief, Grim Fandango, Fallout 2, Tribes, THIEF, Unreal, Commandos.... so many innovative games back then. Now we just build on them over and over and over again
if blizzard were 100% honest with us
He says (posing as a Blizzard exec) @3:44 --
"all of our franchises are based off of other people's games:
Hearthstone -> Magic the Gathering
Starcraft and Warcraft -> Warhammer
Diablo -> Baldur's Gate
Overwatch -> Team Fortress 2"
I can't comment on the first and last. Star/Warcraft being influenced by Warhammer makes sense. Diablo being influenced by Baldur's Gate... Not so much (I'd even disagree with saying Diablo as a *franchise* being influenced by BG as a *franchise*, ignoring the timing issue of original Diablo vs original BG).
I too was disappointed with Diablo not being "RPG enough" compared to, say, the Ultima series. But once I got past that, I actually had a lot of fun with it (and Diablo 2).
Did he say that? I didn't watch it. I remember myself ranting about Diablo 1 not being "enough of an RPG", and my room mate at the time had to point out it was never trying to be. I dunno.. I was a dumb young man at one point, too, but at least I knew which game came first, (though that might be the benefit of having lived through it).

Starcraft 2: Legacy of the Void Trailer
God damn Blizzard trailers, so awesome.
Starcraft movie next? Pretty please?
Badminton: Play of the Day alright... holy cow
It's one of those games that's fun to play with your friends in the back yard until that one super competitive dick comes around, takes it way too seriously and ruins it for everyone. Then it becomes a "sport" rather than a game. Consider: volleyball, softball, ultimate frisbee, bowling, ping pong, curling, Starcraft, and so on.
Korean 50 Shades of Grey
You must help the world crack the code of the StarCraft gene! WCS ladder seriously needs some diversity.
Being Korean I thought his 'Play Room' was going to be a Starcraft shrine.

Koch Brothers Can't Stand Their Own Organizations
I really like this idea of systemically ostracizing large portions of the population so that they have to work outside the system itself. Creates an almost shadow world of wow, who knows what goes on in this mass populace of unemployable criminals... Where would they go? Australia's full. Mars!! We send them to Mars. What does this ultimately lead to?
Oh, I know -- StarCraft
Become self employed.
Homeworld : Remastered trailer
Homeworld isn't a flight game, it's an RTS. think starcraft in 3 dimensions.
I have been playing FALLOUT 3 for a couple days. FREEAKING COOL GAME !
Too bad I JUST figured out how to use the targeting system, also known as the fighting system or whatnot - I have been playing/aiming like I was in a online deathmatch, people die much faster now. YAY for learning.
I do not play any flight games or space because I do not have a control stick, mouse is not my thing for flight.
StarCraft II: Legacy of the Void - Blizzcon 2014 Trailer
The Protoss bravely fight for Aiur.
They stand during times that are dire.
This cool cinematic
Shows events climactic?
Heck, that's why I'm a Starcraft buyer.
Overwatch Gameplay Trailer
So apparently if you are an FPS that looks like it was made by Pixar then you're a TF2 clone.
I mean, the similarities are obvious. They both have guns, they both have (mostly) humanoid characters, there appears to be a control point...and, my god, was that a healing beam!?!?! "One of the characters even turns into a turrent" - Hey now, the heavy is certainly slow and fat but he's not _completely_ immobile.
I spotted something else. That Tracer girl is TOTALLY using Weaver's Time lapse. That's another shameless copypaste from another game that Valve created from a mod made by somebody else. What next, Portals? Silent crowbar wielding protagonists? Waiting almost a decade for the next installment of a hotly anticipated IP?...hold on, I think Blizzard invented that with Starcraft and Diablo. nvm.
Honestly, it's been over 7 years. I played TF2, I loved TF2. When somebody tells me "Hey, Blizzard are shoveling all their money and expertise into creating a new game based on that other game you loved" my reaction isn't "HOW DARE THEY INTRUDE UPON GABEN'S HOLY GROUND!". I am looking forward to playing Overwatch and continuing an age old tradition of whining about how Bliz can't balance games.
