Arnie vs. Sly -- A fan mashup of two action movies.

Disney buy Lucasfilm for $4.05bn. Star Wars Ep. 7 for 2015 (Cinema Talk Post)

moodonia says...

Gaaaah! Pardon my nerdgasm. I'm going to find only the positive in this news. It was always a head scratcher to me that they werent doing more with the Star wars universe. Like getting some of the many talented people out there to create even a self contained movie, like Boba Fetts Big Score or Sly Snootles struggle to make it in a jawa dominated music industry or something.

Protester in conversation with plain clothes surveillance

dannym3141 says...

He was being condescending, perhaps passive aggressive - "You want to calm down, you do," is not a phrase i've ever heard said to make an honest point in the middle of a tense argument. Afterwards i even think he was trying to spark a reaction by being condescending because his threats hadn't worked.

These sly little fuckers ought to be sacked on the spot if they were police. Abusing power like that is the most cowardly, weaselly act.. only the lowest, stupidest kind of human being does that kind of stuff.

TYT - 63% of Republicans STILL Think Iraq Had WMDs

messenger says...

It wasn't an ad hominem attack. Yes, it was a sly insult of your analytical powers, but between the lines it also was a rebuttal to your argument. I'll explain: The point is that you think Saddam's having WMDs in 1988 has some impact on the fact (not the opinion) that there were no WMDs in 2003. What happened in 1988 doesn't change facts in 2003. But 63% of Republicans (seemingly, including you) still think there were WMDs, even when all the top Republican leaders say so. If your position is, "There were WMDs in 1988 therefore there were WMDs in 2003," that's illogical. We know there were none.

The implication in the joke is that the reason you still believe there were WMDs is that you watch Fox News, which is notorious for wilfully spreading misinformation, particularly following Republican party lines, including about the existence of WMDs.

@KnivesOut, sorry for ruining your joke by explaining it.>> ^lantern53:

You realize you lose the argument when you make personal attacks and avoid the question?
Also I don't watch Fox and Friends. But I agree that the TV becomes an idiot box when you watch TYTs.
Here:
The Halabja poison gas attack (Kurdish: Kîmyabarana Helebce), also known as Halabja massacre or Bloody Friday,[1] was a genocidal massacre against the Kurdish people that took place on March 16, 1988, during the closing days of the Iran–Iraq War, when chemical weapons were used by the Iraqi government forces in the Kurdish town of Halabja in Iraqi Kurdistan.

U.S. Military being used as Government-Paid Missionaries

@shinyblurry (and @Morganth), you might be surprised to hear this from me, but I am all for having chaplains (of all faiths) in the military that soldiers of faith can go to. I don't think they provide the same help professional psychiatrists could but it's probably better than nothing. The way the US abandons its troops to the psychological trauma they face is truly outrageous; so far we seem to be in agreement.
But as @enoch pointed out, the point of this video is to call out the sly, cowardly tactics of evangelical missionaries in the army who take advantage of the traumatizing nature of war to bully people into belief when they are at their most vulnerable. It's a bit like stuffing fearful stories about eternal torture into the heads of small children (oh wait...).

I agree on the point that no one should use psychological manipulation to try to bring someone to Christ. It will only result in a false conversion, save the Lords grace. They believe they are doing a good thing, but the goal isn't numbers. We preach the gospel, but God is the one who changes the heart. Without a change of heart, there is no real change of mind. That said, it is the truth that man is a stubborn creature who, when things are going well, thinks nothing about God. It's only when things take a turn that he realizes his need for God. Man is naturally rebellious against God, and that is just the reality of his nature. Many people need to hit rock bottom before they will change, and God will bring them there if He has to.

Ron Paul Newsletters - Innocent or Guilty?

shagen454 says...

The strange thing is this doesn't surprise me. I always have felt that Ron Paul is sly and he is not giving the whole truth of what he actually thinks. Sure, we should get rid of the Fed and have a government with less power; but he wants to do it with complete deregulation to make an even freer system for the corporations. Our corporations are the reason the government is so fucked and he essentially wants what we have now, but even worse. The corporations would turn us into a racist, homophobic, Fascist State overnight without our pseudo democracy.

This shit wreaks of a smear campaign and I dislike smear campaigns.
