Zero Punctuation: Heavy Rain

NetRunner says...

@Xax, buy yourself a PS3 slim, God of War 3, and Uncharted 2. Once you're done with those two games, buying the PS3 will seem like a damn smart idea, especially if you don't already have a bluray player.

Then you can do things like try Heavy Rain, Metal Gear Solid 4, Infamous, Ratchet & Clank Future, Resistance 2, and Gran Turismo 5 when it finally comes out.

Oh yeah, and Killzone 2, if you're into that sort of thing.

Context is everything. Name calling with malice is bad. It's not the words themselves, but the spirit in which they are used. Thanks >> ^JiggaJonson:
Srry chief, I can be rather bitter after developing a grudge. I'll throttle down but are gay epithets still fair game? e.g. cock-toucher or asshole masticator ?? jk jk

That's weird, I must have a memory that is either more functional than yours or I'm more conscientious when it comes to the conversations I have because I remember conversations, big and small, vividly. Either way, i still feel like you were in the wrong in our discussion. Dig it up if you need a reminder or brush it off if you don't care about it. Maybe you finally got the sand out of that black vagina of yours.

Also, in case you havnt caught on yet, most of what i say is extremely sarcastic.

In reply to this comment by burdturgler:
Honestly, I barely remember you. I guess I was arguing with you about you using "nigger" or calling me a nigger? Let me go dig it up so I can remember whatever it is that you never let go of. In any event, rest assured, I certainly don't care enough about you to actually hate you.

I said *notquality because I think it's a shitty idea. And I thought it would be an ironic way to convey the message. That's it. No hidden hatred.

In reply to this comment by JiggaJonson:
Do you still hate me because of the nigger thing?

How can that be when I'm not a Republican? I am - above all else - a fiscal conservative and Constitutional Constructionist who believes in the central philosophies established by the founding fathers in the Federalist Papers (limited federal powers & state's rights). When Republicans deviate from this platform then I eschew them as readily as the most left-wing socialist spendocrat.

If Obama or the Democrats would push a political agenda based on fiscal responsibility, balanced budgets, reduced spending, and reduction of federal government then they'd have an ardant defender (me). As it is - they are leftist big government big tax big spend stoolies.

My current support of Republicans only goes so far as they are running on platforms that either (A) gridlock Obama's leftist, fiscally disasterous agenda - or (B) fight for reduced spending & federal shrinkage. I hope the GOP wins big in November and throws the entire system into complete and utter immobility. It did Clinton a world of good.

And for clarification... Obama's stupid re-definition of fiscal responsibility doesn't count as actual fiscal responsibility. He likes to move rhethorical targets and pretend he's actually doing something when he's actually doing the exact opposite. For example - he tried to say his dumb health care plan is 'fiscally responsible' via reducing costs. His numbers are either imaginary or purely hypothetical. But like most psuedo-intellectuals who operate in a realm of theory, he actually believes he's being fiscally responsible when he increases our deficit by 2 trillion dollars and loses 8.2 million jobs (and hides the figures). He's an idiot, and his fake definition of 'fiscally responsible' is for idiots. True fiscal responsibility would be to completely abandon all of his stupid 're-image America' agenda items, slash all domestic spending by 75%, and pay off our debt. Insted of that he's increasing spending and ratcheting up the debt. Idiot.

i can still see a falling hazard when somebody going downstairs will pull on that handle to unlock it and then start moving forward while still pulling on the handle. It will remain unlocked.. Person might not fall all the way down, but enough to cause injury.
i think some sort of simple ratcheting mechanism that would allow moving only 1-2 steps per unlock would be a safer solution.
If there's more than one person needed to use such device, they can attach 2 handles.

Look at the design and you can see that you can't unlock it while going down. It has a square clamp and a square rail so it can't rotate. It can only rotate on the end parts because those parts of the rail are round.

Any gamers in the crowd? (Blog Entry by JiggaJonson)

KnivesOut says...

I didn't know this was going to (d)evolve into an E-Peen thread, but I love that game, so here goes:

My first gaming experiences were, of course, Atari-2600 related. I still have the console and ~80 carts in my closet.

My folks bought their first computer, an Atari 4800 (lol.) I have fond memories of hand-entering the BASIC code for games, debugging them manually, and saving them to cassette tapes. We also actually purchased a phenomenal game called Lode Runner that is still emulated today.

First official console: Sega Genesis. I was unhappy with the palette "warmth", so I traded it up for a SNES. I still have that console as well. My wife and I resolved many disputes with Doctor Mario and Mortal Kombat Trilogy.

After I got out of the military, I bought my first PC, a CompuAdd 486, with which I happily played Doom, Doom2, Duke Nukem, Interstate '76, Mechwarrior (1,2), Tie Fighter, X-Wing, Warcraft, Populous, the list goes on.

It wasn't long after that my wife and I invested in a Nintendo 64, which I wasn't very pleased with. The games that we enjoyed were great, but the variety wasn't so much. We got a lot of mileage out of Mario Kart 64, Mario 64, and of course Ocarina of Time.

Disappointed with the 64, we bought a Playstation. There were a few games that became marital aides, primarily Tekken 3 and Super Puzzle Fighter. However, the console's primary purpose quickly became Spyro. I think my wife may have had a thing for that little dragon. Syro's 1-3 are still near to our hearts (I'm glad that they were all released on the PSN.)

Subsequently, we purchased a Dreamcast, primarily because of how easy it was to boot-leg games for the system. Other than the Sonic games, only Jet Set Radio stands out as a mentionable Dreamcast game. Simply fantastic.

After that, we dove into the PS2. Gran Turismo 3, 4, Jak&Daxter, Ratchet and Clank, Final Fantasy XII, ICO, Shadow of the Colossus were the highlights. Oh yeah, also Odin Sphere, great game. Ew, and Shin Megami Tensei 3, that too.

Back to the PC, I had purchased a beefed up system in 2006, primarily for Half-Life 2, but also fell back in love with Team Fortress and Counter Strike. That's also when I began my on-again off-again love affair with MMO games. Final Fantasy XI, the first I'd tried, was a bitch-lover, more a 2nd job than a "fun game". Since, I've played City of Heroes, World of Warcraft, Lineage2, EVE, and (most recently) Lord of the Rings Online. In between multi-player gaming, I've spent solo-time on Oblivion, Overlord, Sims3, Bioshock, and the fantastic Fallout 3.

On the mobile front, what started out as travel-toys for my son have turned into nice gaming distractions as well. We have Nintendo DS's, and a PSP. I've put a shameful amount of time into Pokemon Pearl (played through twice fully, on third play now.) On the PSP, Patapon was a nice distraction, as was Tales of the World: Radiant Mythology.

Year before last we bought a PS3. Stand-outs are: Little Big Planet, all of the PixelJunk games, Flower, and Infamous.

That's it for my gamer's resume. Hope I get the job.

Interesting. Tom Cruise ratcheting things down to just normal star actor crazy for awhile. People like him are doing you a favor when you get to interview them, that's just how good they are. Weird what that kind of fame and attention does to people.

"Here is an undeniable fact: Obama is substantially increasing US military spending, by at least $21 billion from Bush-era levels, including a significant ratcheting up of Afghanistan war spending, as well as more money for unmanned attack drones, which are increasingly being used in attacks on Pakistan. (David Swanson over at AfterDowningStreet.org does a great job of breaking down some of the media coverage of this issue across the political spectrum)."

I find it odd that they wonder at the origin of the taboo on criticizing religion. To me, it's clear where this came from: thousands of years of wars started by religions being unable to co-exist.

A couple points. First, there wouldn't be wars started by religion unless it was already taboo to criticize religion.

Second, it's not really true that there have been thousands of years of religious wars. The phenomenon of the holy war is really only found in monotheistic faiths. The Romans certainly didn't start wars with people because of religion (though they certainly found all sorts of other reasons). The Greeks didn't. Hindus, Buddhists, and Jains have peacefully coexisted for thousands of years. Buddhism spread peacefully into China, Japan, and Korea.

Monotheistic faiths haven't really had the political power to engage in religious wars until about 1500 years ago, when Christians really locked up rule of the dying Roman Empire--and they really started ratcheting up as the Catholic Church took political control of Europe and Islam unified the Middle East.
