First, "project blue beam" is a conspiracy theory idea that claims things like the planes that flew into the twin towers were really holograms, or that there's an alien invasion program creating odd holographic images to confuse humans, or aliens are using holograms to present us with a false messiah/Jesus/Gawd/4 horsemen of the apocalypse. Uh...yeah.
Second, I notice that only a single person in the background audience has a reaction that might be attributed to seeing a whale jump at you, the rest just clap casually.
Third, there are many clear artifacts at the whale's edge where they photoshopped it in.

I wish holograms were at this level today, and they should be, but they aren't. Projecting white into a bright 3D space doesn't work without smoke or mist to project on, and even then it's only really visible when the surroundings are darker.

I really want to like this, but that guys voice is so photoshopped it's annoying.

Don't want to be that guy espousing "it's Photoshopped" - but, I never trust these video game freakouts. Many of the most popular ones were staged... remember that kid that shoved a shoe up his butt due to WoW, then people remixed and autotuned the shit out of it? Leeroy Jenkins? All that shit was staged for views. Though, I still like re-watching that Leeroy Jenkins bit, that's a classic, regardless!

I point blank refuse to believe that anyone could be that bad at photoshop.

1 - Well let me deconstruct that a bit. Presumably you rely on news, how can you rely on any of it to be trustworthy? Several ways obviously, I would say the main are (A) Ownership, (B) Reputation and (C) Funding.

A - Ownership - RT (and it's web of shadowy news sites pretending to be local) are owned by the Kremlin or clearly Kremlin linked oligarchs. Their incentives should be clear, promote the Putin narrative. When all independent TV news has been shuttered within Russia or taken over, you would expect these outfits to be heavily biased towards propaganda. I would similarly have to be suspect of outfits like Voice of America (US government funded). Corporate news sources have their own incentives. I happen to like the Economist but I'm mindful of its ownership involving the Rothschild family and Eric Schmidt (Google) being on the board for example. After all, every news outfit is owned by someone.

B - Reputation - This is the main one to me. You can say what you will about Western media, but there is a cultural expectation among its people and its reporters of the freedom to report newsworthy stories. There are obviously biases and those form part of the news source's reputation. We know TV news tend to be short on fact and sensationalist. Equally, we know Fox News to be right wing. We inevitably find these things out because no matter how much a news owner might want to control its message, freedom of speech sees the reputation leak out. We have reports (regarding Fox for example) that memos go out to use specific language like "Climategate" or we have controversies such as when photos of NYT reporters were photoshopped with yellow teeth.

C - Funding - Advertising vs Subscription, but that's not really relevant here.

My main point is, relying on Putin directly or any of his web of 'news' to get information about Russia or America is particularly silly. We know their ownership, reputation and thereby incentives. Or any state backed news. For corporate news, ultimately any bias from ownership, reputation or say government influence will leak out.

2 - I don't see him as any more politically effective or intelligent than necessarily any other major leader. If I've expressed anything here it should be that what Putin says is just as calculated and manipulative as any politician. Just because it has a veneer of 'speaking truth to power' or recounts some truths does not mean it is true in its entirety. Bluster and waging wars is politically popular in Russia, he is simply playing to a different audience. I would say any notion that he is more 'objective' is farcical. After all the kind of imperialism that he decries of America is the exact kind he's engaged in in Ukraine and now Syria!

All of their reactions pretty much mimic my own. I am by no means any kind of professional graphic artist but when Photoshop 3.0 killed the right click copy-pasta for selections, they killed it for the majority of casual users. Now you have to use the edit menu. "shakes fist!"

Wow... I'm fairly sure I got a message from her too... I remember a message that I ignored and deleted, somebody from Texas, living in Chicago and in the UK. I didn't feel like going through the trouble of the scam.
I did once before though just for giggles. Some cute girl from Russia, or so was the claim. She gave me an address in Russia she wanted me to send her money so she could come see me (the request for money was several emails later)... when I told her I was broke, she complained how I don't trust her, and after she sent me lots of pictures (she did send me some pics, it occurred to me later I should have had her have a pic with my name and her name to prove she was who she was in the pic)... Eventually I just told her to leave me alone if she doesn't believe if I'm broke, but if she's ever in the area to look me up (not that she had any real contact information anyhow to even begin to know where I was). EDIT: I just searched my email... seems I did keep her messages, though not the ones I made to her, and she did send a pic (which looked a bit photoshopped) with my name on a paper... lol. Oh the memories... Olga was her name, though everyone calls her Masyanya... looking Olga Tomsk (the city she's from) seems to indicate she's a regular scammer. Most seem to say she was just using form letters, but mine were personalized, so perhaps she had upgraded her game. Now I wish I had started messages with the Texas/Chicago/UK girl just to have more notes to compare.
