The Louis Experiment - What does it mean? (Standup Talk Post)
Louis C.K. has been hilarious for years, and for years has been making comedy at the expense of big bizz, and had much to do with an old favorite comedy of mine.
As an artist, your job is to convince people that what you do has value, and then give people an opportunity to express (to you) that they agree that what you do has value and that they would like you to continue making your art. At the inception of recorded music, the companies that facilitated this did much to help people to be able to express their sense of value towards recording artist, but over the last few years, those same record companies have done much to get in the way.
What LCK is essentially doing is opening up his cupboard to honesty and respect. He's fully aware that there are lots of people who will not buy his recordings no matter what, but he is fully aware that making things easy for his fans to support him will never bite him in the ass.

<> (Blog Entry by blankfist)
I spent half my youth listening to country-western music, and I'll be damned if I can remember any lyrics to speak of.
The album I remember most is Willie Nelson's "Red Headed Stranger" which was a concept thing that my dad used to play on his 8-track.
And then there were all of the old favorites that fifth-rate bands would play at valley fairs where people of all ages would waltz and two-step on some old, worn-down basketball court in this or that county hall or fair ground.
Cans of Bud, bottles of Jack and Southern Comfort, country girls preening themselves in rear-view mirrors, the faint scent of chewing tobacco, an occasional fist-fight, and maybe getting lucky and caressing a pretty girl's breast in the moonlight, hidden somewhere safe from the crowd.
Should the queue escape limit be raised? *Please read before voting (User Poll by EDD)
I am obviously one of those who are just pushing as much 'crap' through as I can. I do not think of it as crap myself... I see a funny, or featured video on LiveLeak, and if I find it funny or interesting, yes, I will try to sift it. Obviously lots of people agree that the crap I am sifting is funny.
And there are lots of WAY more crappy videos that sifter and got more votes I do try to sift both my old favorite music videos, and some more serious stuff that concerns me and touches my heart.
Funny stuff sifts easier (though Net is right.. you get votes right away and to the front page, and it will sift pretty quickly. Lots of good stuff just gets lost in the insifted queue), serious videos might take longer, more begging.. ot doesn't mean that they are worse.
I don't want to raise the limit to 12. Then I'd be sifting pure 'crap' and nothing serious.. If there has to be a change, maybe base sifting ratios based on channel popularity.. you want to sift a 'wtf' video, you need 20 upvotes.. 'documentary', just 10 votes..
And NO, I don't want to have sift work like that. Just give crap to the masses that like crap, or downvote if it really bothers you..
The Bud Light Swear Jar
^ I agree, and I'd still be happy if that is done, but this is far from the first, and it seems a real shame not to have some old favorites on the Sift.
a music video that actually does not glorify Heroin use

MintBBB in the Weekly Top Users (Happy Talk Post)
Woo, thank you! I am so happy I have been able to get that many votes, mostly just by posting my silly 'old' favorite videos! I love this place! =) I will keep posting.
Oh, and the bbb.. uh-oh, I was trying to get variations of 'Mint (my old-oldold nickname) accepted and then just got tired and decided mintbbb would be free =) Oh wait, I mean it means 'Mint, only just bigger, badder and better!

Disappearing votes? (Sift Talk Post)
It's possible that you simply never voted. I often go back to old favorites that I could SWEAR I voted on, only to realize I never have. I just vote and move on.
SciFi Books that should be Made into Movies (Scifi Talk Post)
Unfortunately, sci-fi movies nowadays seem to be more about special effects and explosions than story and characters. There are many books I would love to see made into movies, but I'd want them to be made exactly the way I envision them as I'm reading them. I'd hate to see how the movie industry would butcher some of my favorite books.
Oh, I thought of another old favorite (well... 1985). Larry Niven and Jerry Pournelle's "Footfall". Classic alien invasion.
