Hatsune Miku on David Letterman
I don't know. I know Gorillaz did the Grammy Awards in 2006 with Madonna. It looks these days they don't worry about the animation when they tour, more or less a background thing with the real performers front stage. Of course they have real performers, where Hatsune Miku's singing is done by a computer program as well, not just autotuned to be her. I'd think they had to appear on shows as the animated form though before...
Did Gorillaz ever do any of these shows? I'm wondering because they did concerts where the cartoons were projected onto a screen.
Goal Celebrations FX
Funny I was thinking Hatsune Miku, but I really think it's just a general reference to the Japanese fascination with leeks lol.
>> ^Chaucer:
i think the leek may have been a tribute to gantz but then again I may be reading to much into it.
Tupac Hologram Performance - Coachella 2012
>> ^lucky760:
Very cool, no doubt, and I'd love to see it in person, but I recoil a little when I hear this technology described as a hologram. It's not a 3D rendering, as far as I understand it. It's just a life-sized projection onto a really large semi-transparent surface. Right? Or am I missing something?
Yeah I think it's the same technology that they use for that japanese anime popstar Hatsune Miku.

While this is a definite +1 for technology and showmanship, it's a definite -1 for the legacy of your favourite musicians. If this becomes a trend prepare to see your favourite dead rock stars back on stage, and re-purposed, re-voiced and re-scripted to suit the the requirements or agenda of whoever's pulling the strings.
New Michael Jackson stage musical anyone?

Smells Like Teen Spirit as a J-Pop Ballad
>> ^dystopianfuturetoday:
Sounds very human to me.
I think it's a human, too, but not because of the singing. The singing sounds very much like Vocaloid, but there's one thing this song has that Hatsune Miku doesn't, and that's breathing between words.
And now, for something completely different ...
I think I saw something related on the sift a while ago. This is Hatsune Miku, a J-Pop celebrity with the added feature of being completely artificial. The song on the video is a fruit drinking version of this one.
And yes, this is all terrible. I'm sure music biz execs worldwide creamed their pants when they first saw her. Just imagine the potential! All the shitty easy to digest music you can feed the unwashed masses with a teen popstar that never ages and will never give you any crap about her "rights" or any other human emotions. She can't even lose her soul when she shills for fruit juice, for she has none to lose!
Japanese Hologram Concert
Miku Hatsune AKA a vocaloid. She is basically a text-to music computer program very popular in japan. They have many different versions each of which carries a different popstar character which they create for different voices.
http://knowyourmeme.com/memes/miku-hatsune-vocaloid You can also check out one of these in one of the vids I posted here: http://videosift.com/video/Text-to-speech-Autotune-Vocaloid
The really cool part is almost all the songs she performs are created by her fans who post the songs on niko niko douga (smile smile video).
It is definitely a *meme but I cant add this tag myself
Japanese Hologram Concert
That's hugely impressive... I'm amazed at how real it looks.

From the Huffington Post:
In what is surely a terrible omen not only for musicians but also the continued existence of the world as we know it, holographs are now playing sold out concerts in, where else, Japan.
Cross Dressing Korean Bass Player Solo
This is a Miku Hatsune song isn't it?
Leek Girl
For anyone who doesn't know: she's cosplaying as Hatsune Miku, mascot for Vocaloid2

Aural Vampire - Darkwave Surfer
This is not Exo-Chika, this is Miku, because Aural Vampire hasn't really made a video for this song as far as I know. You can check out their video for <ahref="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9loRRdMVtBk">Freeze.
