Luc Besson Directing? Sign me up.
Incidentally, with the way Besson paces his films, this is probably a compilation of _all_ the action in the film. The rest being amazing character development.
The Incal, animated trailer (2011)
The original comic was illustrated by Moebius, who also provided some production design on the Fifth Element; a film which is heavily "inspired" by the Incal.
So much so that Moebius and Jodorowsky allegedly sued Luc Besson.
Lucy TRAILER 1 (2014) - Luc Besson, Scarlett Johansson Movie
What's the last great Luc Besson movie?
Crap. I wish I hadn't watched it and had some of the powers spoiled. It's Luc Besson, I don't need a trailer to know I wanna see it.

Lucy TRAILER 1 (2014) - Luc Besson, Scarlett Johansson Movie
I think Luc Besson is amazing but god this looks like shit. The 10% nonsense is the main thing but the unimaginative casting is the nail in the coffin. Johansson is wooden and Morgan "dial it in" Freeman isn't much better. There should be some sort of law that prevents him from playing the avuncular professor type in every bloody film.

It's like Wanted meets Limitless meets The Matrix.
Looks great.
FWIW, The Family, by Luc Besson, was a surprisingly good flick.

Interview with Milla Jovovich about The Fifth Element
Married two years too. Luc Besson is a playa.
wait...
"Would you like to come up to my room so I can videotape you again?"

"Like, he'd never filmed my face before..."
Ruby Rhod's Evening Show - The Fifth Element
Agree completely on that whole not having to explain itself. Apparently it was written by a teenage Luc Besson and thinking about it does sort of reflect the kind of story you make up as a kid. A lot of imagination, not much direction and completely carefree.
My intepretation was always that Leeloo was the fifth element. She represents life in its purest most innocent form as a counterpart to that wierd ball of death/evil that calls Zorg up on the phone (wat.). Leeloo learns of all the atrocities humanity commits, she loses sight of the point of life until Gorban gives her a reason. Love is the key but not the element imo. I just threw up a little. But here we are analysing a film which defies it. It just wants to show us something fantastical and doesn't care if we understand or not.
ps. That Gorban - Leeloo relationship is still wierd. I was getting a father daughter vibe until they touch lips at the end. Meanwhile in Leon...
It's great to watch a film that doesn't feel it has to explain itself all the time. So much stuf was just a given in this film. I wish more directors would do this.
Oh yeah, fifth element is love. It doesn't have to make sense, it's just cute

The Fifth Element: Gary Oldman as Zorg
Hah, this is weird. I've been looking through Oldman clips for the last couple of weeks now (he's my second favourite actor in the universe) and found this one too, but didn't think to post it. Also one of my favourite movies, god bless Luc Besson!
