I always heard it came from the fact black folks were banned from public pools until recently, thus never learned to swim.

Water is a dangerous thing.

My brother has been a river guide in denali, colorado, life guard, etc. It is shocking who he has to rescue. Last week he had to save a 6'5" muscular army guy who rolled his kayak on the Chicago river (completely flat). He was pretty much stuck upside down.

There continues to be a big racial divide with learning to swim. I wonder how long that trend will persist.

You know that classic video with the kid that tries to jump in the pool but miscalculates where the water starts and face-plants on cement... Perhaps that kid learned to swim in this pool.

I like EIA and see it as something completely different than Fail

1. When I was 4 or 5 I fell on a log that contained a bees nest and was stung over 30 times. I'm not afraid of bees anymore.
2. I wish I had gotten to meet my maternal grandfather and I wish I had known my paternal grandfather better before he died.
3. I seem to be immune to poison ivy and poison sumac.
4. The only time I feel comfortable in my surroundings is when I'm out in the woods.
