Bear in mind that you can't really compare it to the next generation like Nightmare on Elm St, Poltergeist etc. since they're already moving away from the straight-up slasher - more complex plots, adding mainstream elements like humour, and far bigger budgets.

The comparison to Halloween is reasonable since it really was a Halloween wannabe, but it's a bit like saying you're not as smart as Einstein.

Now, if you really want to diss the film, compare it to Evil Dead which came out only a year later on a smaller budget.

I don't mind a bit of silliness, but the aftermath for this prank is just not worth it. I don't care about Kimmel, but his staff don't deserve the cleanup.

I mostly stick to Colbert, Meyer & British humour for my comedy fix now, it's more biting than just... loud.

For a popcorn theme they could probably have put in a popcorn maker and holes in the sides of the buildings. That way as the corn pops, the little popcorn people jump out.

I was actually doing a bit of dark humour suggesting the only reason impeachment was being considered was the death of a faded 70s and 80s rock star who had just finished a year of his new reality show when he succumbed to cancer. So, not really funny or cool. I was in a mood.

You know, it's actually not that bad. I mean I went in expecting pretty average, but I actually found the humour in it pretty good.

And Democrats are supposed to be the opposite of Republicans. That’s the whole point of democracy. You have the option of left or right.

Except in the US, where you have a moderate, conservative, centre right party (the Democrats) and a bunch of far right fucking loons.

I try to avoid hyperbole when discussing politics (except for the purposes of humour), but the Republicans are turning into Nazis and that is not something I say lightly.

They're literally just having a chat. "You going on holidays?" "Yeah".

I've always loved that about the Russian attitude, and their subsequent sense of humour... things are crap, but there's nothing we can do about it, so why bother worrying. Get on with it, and do what you can to work around the problem.
