I'll admit that less intellectual thoughts made me cross my legs while watching it though.

I got the feeling after watching some of her other videos that she targets a group of kids that have had a tough and abusive life. Her words or lyrics or style harmonize with victims and gets their attention but may also elude the "fortunate". She also shows hope that they can overcome just as she has.

Music, no matter the genre will reach those that are looking for answers to cope with whatever the damage may be and the answer will always be, "you are not alone in being alone."

I'm in the "who cares?" camp.

If you're gonna be mad about studio tricks, why even stop there?

How about multiplying vocals for harmonic effect, speeding up or slowing down the vocals, echoes, fades, etc etc etc?

And why stop at vocals? Instrumentation and arrangements are manipulated in tons of "unrealistic" ways as well.

Production is an art in itself. I consider is as one of the ingredients, together with the "organic" stuff," in the stew which is the final recordeding.

To play Devil's advocate... why do this?

He's essentially playing a bad version of that guitar solo.

I mean, yeah, he's obviously a good musician and I'm guessing from some of his other videos he's a talented pianist (don't know enough about piano to judge).

But there are things you can do on a guitar (slides, bends, harmonics) that are impossible to do on a piano. That doesn't make a guitar better than a piano, just that it has different strengths.

He's (kinda) compensating for the bends using that pitch shifter, but it's a pretty crude version of a guitar bend, and there's no incorporation of the subtleties of how a guitar player changes little things like pick attack.

I am all for people reinterpreting musical pieces on a different instrument, but if you're going to do that, change it for the strengths of your instrument.

Some takeaways from this.

Mr. Poopybutthole goes to the same high school Morty does, at least his universe's version. Said universe is Federation controlled.

While in high school, he has a cane, so this is all after he was shot, so how old was he when he was shot by Beth?

On one of the pictures, we see furniture that has been Cronenberged, which suggests there's a universe which is not only the furniture one, but that got Cronenberged.

Did they drop out and have to take a General Equivalency Test, or is that just what the report cards are called in this universe?

They aided, while still in their graduation suits, with a human-based world's overthrow of the Federation.

The toxic containment has already been mentioned, but his proposal also matches the one where he proposes to Morty (though I suspect he's his universe's Morty).

He's Jewish... or she is.

He can carry her, despite needing his cane, though we can see him struggling.

Dan Harmon once said Mr. Poopybutthole is an adult Meeseek, and that was canon, but here not only is he who he is in high school, we can see they are the same, hat and all, in utero. So they clearly changed their mind.

Finally, who's taking some of these pics? Some are where you'd expect somebody to take a pic, but others, like him falling in love in high school, at first sight, are a bit harder to explain (I know, I know, it's a show (or a show in a show) and don't overthink it)...

Great Director, but I agree with Dan Harmon that he needs better scripts.

Pinch harmonics didn't jump out at me like they usually do in songs that feature them. Dunno if that is because my ear for identifying them isn't great, or if most songs that use them tend to lay them on pretty thick. Probably both.

I'm only a couple episodes into HarmonQuest, but it's pretty good so far, it might help tide you over. Dan Harmon is the co creator of Rick and Morty and the grey beard in that video.

I'm not entirely sure but I think it might be some sort of light-sensitive synth, so creating some sort of harmonic spectra based on the light input.

If you don't know Dan Harmon, he's the writer/creator of Community and Rick and Morty, which should establish his comedy bona fides.

That assumes that we understand the nature of the Universe to an advanced degree enough to determine through our imagination (that was created in this Universe/Multiverse) - that an advanced species that exists far back in time, for a far longer time would evolve in somehow the same way as we have ("technology") and not have evolved on some entirely other level that we could not even imagine (yet) or even have the senses for.

There is the possibility for many dimensions. Using our monkey brains, with our monkey imaginations that are still evolving & being built upon - I might imagine that an intelligent civilization that has existed for billions of years would try to find the SAFEST place to exist. The safest place to exist (without fear of black holes, planet destroying comets, natural disaster, corruption, etc) would be in the form of energy; existing on a harmonic frequency that other intelligent lifeforms can tap into if they wish. But, once again that would assume that the senses I have been given and tools/experiences I have are valid in the grand scope of the Universe; of which they probably are not.
