TotalBiscuit | Let's not play Need for Speed: Rivals

JiggaJonson says...

YES I agree 120% about the FPS and FOV limiting in games. WHY oh WHY do they take away or limit those options with such a heavy hand? Whenever I complain about it everyone acts like I'm insane to care about that because you can't see it.

I draw an analogy to a vinyl vs a digital recording, I may not be able to hear the different frequencies produced by the vinyl, but I can feel the difference in the sound. It's because complicated changes (rapidly drumming is most apparent) are based on an approximation of the sound wave in a digital recording (depending on the quality of the recording). Vinyl, meanwhile, is a recording of the actual sound wave grooved into the plastic.

Although it's nearly impossible to hear that difference, people still buy vinyls for some reason. Back to fps and fov though, I may not be able to see higher than 30 fps, but I don't live life (or drive cars) at 30 fps like a flip book. Your eyes don't give you an accurate picture of the world, they only give you a useful one.

Real life runs @ ∞ fps and htz. I'm not asking for anything close to that, just make the choice available or don't ban me for hacking when I go into my config file and try to change my fov and fps limit manually.

The Space Lady ~ Major Tom

chingalera says...

Some of the best music I've ever heard came form the street performers in SF-Two in particular stand out: One guy on Haight St. played acoustic guitar and all of his arrangements he had learned by ear by spinning 78rpm rarities in his personal collection. His technique was reminiscent of each of the artists (all from the 20s-30s) he appreciated. Carl Kress, Dick McDonough, and Django Reinhardt . Guy was genius.

Another lady in her late 50s would camp out in front of the Castro theater and play musical saws. She was a hit with the gay boys and gals in the Castro, always had a fat saw-case fulla semolians.

One cat, in a wheelchair, played this modified electric slide guitar he had made himself, with the amp and battery supply all included in his wheelchair. His groove sounded like an amalgam of many great rock guitarists from the 60s, Hendrix, Beck, Page....that guys groove was SICK! Always tossed him those dillies on his watch.

Top 10 Worst Movie Casting Choices

chingalera says...

Thought so too, like, how do you cast a remake of King Kong anyhoo?? Black's character in that film in particular (can't really stand him in most films) suited the director's groove and Black's level of Jack...writing totally sucked, because why? Can't recall a single LINE!!! (close to 3 grueling hours)

@playback-HAH! Portrayed himself perfectly, pulled a Matrix like Reeves

John Wayne as Genghis screams tomes of the inner-workings of the OCD God of ta-tas and aeroplanes, that film was excruciatingly surreal-Howard Hughes flicks and a sanitized hotel suite with theater seats and room service....A freak can dream, can't he?

Jack Black was interesting to watch, as he usually is, so his work in King Kong was fine by me.

Russell Brand - Time for a Spiritual Revolution

Cocaines' a helluva drug ☃
Starting to really dig Brand's new groove now-He's much more tolerable as the clever sociocultural ideologue than a straight comedian-

Oceania's National Anthem - From George Orwell's 1984

Neal Peart of RUSH discussing LimeLight and vocal timing

ChaosEngine says...

Just as a dissenting opinion, I have to say I'm really not a fan of Peart. Yeah, he's an incredible technician, but for me he lacks the groove of Bonham or Buddy Rich.

OTOH, Rushs music bores me to tears (I hate that vocalist) so maybe I'd enjoy him more with a different band.

New Album Is Out! (Blog Entry by Fusionaut)

chingalera says...

Listening now-You were definitely influenced heavily by that whole Joe Zawinul/Return to Forever groove-Got a question: Read yer bio and I'm wondering if you're only an employee of the RCM as the piano-player or are you military?

Another question: All that rhythm but where's the brass and woodwinds?! Not even an Akai EWI 3020?....Whassups?!

Quite listenable, makes me wanna crash a pretentious social event!

Bad Ventriloquist Bombs Hard on Stage... Gives Up Mid Act.

chingalera says...

But you might have a good friend who offers-up your self-immolation to masses of sophomoric douche bags who have nothing better to do than point, laugh, and project their own insecurities upon those deemed unworthy, and that would spoil their groove!

braindonut said:

Man... takes guts to get up in front of people and bomb like that. I couldn't watch it...

If I were going to do something like that, I'd hope my friends would be good enough to keep me from embarrassing myself.

Watching the first new episode. It'll take some getting used to and for them to get back in the groove, but I'm oh so happy it's back. Bad Whose Line is better than no Whose Line.

Girl Learns to Dance in a Year

markyroboto says...

Every who says she danced at better at 'Day 136' obviously has no formal dance experience (which is not a 'diss' or anything) or knowledge of body isolation. She has learned to control much more of her body by 'Day 365'. Day 165 is a simple hand tutting routine that any average person can learn in a day (plus the waist groove-pointing thing). Day 365 she has constant body movement, and better facial expressions (which most beginner dancers are extremely scared to do since they are nervous that people are judging).
