Excellent choices. I'll add the 2nd one to the playlist during the day so hopefully they can both get some more eyeballs. If you haven't listened to it already, check out that Jack Straw - one of the best I've ever heard (hurry up and get gold so you can save it for me! )

Hey, saw your playlist and subtle plea for more material so I thought to submit a couple of my favorite Dead classics. You'll find 'em in the queue.

Tommy Emmanuel playing guitar how it should be done

A wise man once said music is about the space between the notes as much as the notes themselves.

favorite guitarists?

If I had to pick one, probably Jerry Garcia, but the list of great guitarists I love to hear is way too long for this little box.

The Grateful Dead

brendotroy says...

FYI, the song is "New Speedway Boogie", and it was written by the Dead about the Altamont Free Concert and intended as an indictment of both the concert itself (the Grateful Dead were supposed to play the show, but cancelled and left after the violence at the concert increased, specifically after Marty Balin of Jefferson Airplane was knocked unconscious by a Hells Angels "security guard"; Jerry Garcia reportedly spent part of the show hiding under a trailer) and a subsequent article about the concert by rock critic Ralph J. Gleason. The lyrics take on a lot more meaning when you have that in mind: "Please don't dominate the rap Jack (Ralph) / if you got nothing new to say", "Now I don't know but I been told / in the heat of the sun a man died of cold", and "One way or another / this darkness got to give".

Can anyone tell I'm a (formerly even "grater") Grateful Dead fan?

Ok.......how abouuuuut, pretentious cracker comedy appealing to the flotsam and jetsam of modern society, the socio-liberal, ego-enslaved, over-rated intelligence trivia junkies.....a trap door under the pastey guys' chair would have been a stellar ending......comedy central blows for the most part, time for a root beer/Cherry Garcia float, to wash the bad taste from my brain.......tough love there maudlin, Happy post-Valentines Day
